Re: Nick Viall - Bachelorette 10 Contestant - Spoilers - Discussion - Thread #4
I think Nick is a good guy. I have been reading his twitter. I think all the guys liked one another. I think it bothered Josh what Nick said about him which probably cause the rift there, but it was a hurt Nick reacting to his rejection. It appears ALL the guys are getting bad edit...when they all like one another it's hard to get the edit they would normal have (drama).

Ash2214 wrote:^ Right, there were voice overs and then we see him talking in his ITM, but isn't that Nicks voice the whole entire time? With the last VO, he said that and it sounded clear to me nothing was sliced and diced with that. Is it not arrogant to say that there's just him? No second, no third and that everyone else should just leave? There's absolutely editing, but to say that essentially every negative thing Nick says is because of editing is silly, in my opinion of course.
We don't know what has been taken out, spliced in, taken out of context. Like Sharleen, and so many others have said, the answer they showed was not an answer to the question/issue being presented.
For instance, Nick could have said there's no second, or third (for me); (if I felt I was second or third), I would just leave.
As far as Dylan, Brian and Chris, he could have said they are in the same category (as him), meaning Andi is their priority as well. We don't know.
And, the preview is mixing ITM's together as well. In the first shot of his ITM, he has an orange shirt on. The next shot, he has a gray shirt on.

Ash2214 wrote:^Yes, but considering he mentions Dylan, Brian and Chris' name, one would think it would make sense it was when the group date was going on, not long before it or shortly after, other wise why would he just say those names when those were the only three people that were on the date with him? Or even if it was long after, they were still his words. Regardless, he said "But listen, I feel like at this point there's me and there's no one else. There's no second, there's no third. If I were in anyone else's shoes here, I would just leave" which in my opinion is arrogant and it obviously irked the guys in the house while they were filming.
I just think in my opinion, if we're going to say all of Nick's negative words are due to editing and production, then I guess we could say that for everything all of the other guys say too. I'm not saying Nick is a bad guy - the fact that he's friends with some of the guys now that they're all home shows that but I'm not going to blame editing for every arrogant or rude thing Nick says either.
As far as I'm concerned Nick or anyone else can be as arrogant as they want in a PI. The producers ask them questions until they get the answer they want. I learned that early on when Ian McKee said that in an interview in Brazil. I haven't seen him be arrogant or rude to the guys. You may disagree.

That's why they do VO's; so they can manipulate what they want the audience to hear. Otherwise, it would all be done in one clean ITM.

We have been talking about Nick's friends for the longest while now.

ETA: Glad he is so nervous; very nervy thing to do, but I sort of get it. It reminds me of Working Girl where Melanie Griffith sneaks into the wedding of Trask on false pretenses... that sneak is presented in a much lighter way, so of course its all well and good.... but not this time... definitely some suspense here. Still, if I'm Andi and I like this guy, it really could be a turn on. Dying to see how it resolves!!!
ETAA: also put link in video folder ... not sure where it really belongs.

As to the bolded, If you take this statement in the context of that video - it can be arrogant. Let me add a few sentences before that and after and see if it makes a difference in context:
TPTB: How do you feel about your relationship with Andi compared to the others?
Nick: I am very confident that no one else has what we have.
TPTB: Well don't you think Josh or Chris would be saying the same thing?
Nick: But listen, I feel like at this point there's me and there's no one else. There's no second, there's no third. If I were in anyone else's shoes here, I would just leave. But then again that is just my opinion because of what I feel when I'm with her and what she shows me when we're together.
So take that sentence and put it in this context - is it still arrogant? Like what everyone else is saying things are cut up and put together to portray something and create drama. It's for us to dissect and understand if TPTB is trying to show us an F2 who is going to experience an epic fail or an F1 who they really don't care about at this point because he wasn't really in TPTB pocket 100% - I think that's what we're trying to figure out. His friendships now with other contestants, his after TB activities does not portray the evil, sneaky, tricky, liar Nicky on TV. Poor guy. I bet you the other guys are commiserating with him and showing support through SM.
Need to do something productive and stop hanging out in this forum (after Nick's season)

Yes I do disagree. At the end of the day - they're Nick's words and his voice. People will say everything is sliced and diced. While I agree to some extent, in this instance it seems like all of his words flowed continuously. In my opinion, it's quite easy to tell when editing has chopped things up and in that preview.. It didn't seem like it was. The only thing I've seen Sharleen say about slicing and dicing words is that they would take certain things she said, but would place them during something else. I haven't seen her say that they take certain words, cut other things out, and then add other words.
But like I said, the real reason for my posts were more so pertaining to the issue of saying every negative thing that comes out of Nick's mouth is due to editing. If that's the case, then all of the other guys should get this free pass too. Like others have voiced their opinions about Nick's image being because of editing, I was just voicing mine

Ash, I don't find what Nick said negative. He is here for Andi, and feels he has a better connection with her that Dylan, Brian and Chris. And I agree with him. I think right now it is between Josh and Nick. I don't like Andi, so I am personally hoping for the most shocking both F2 dump the lead ending (yes, I know it won't happen, but I can dream).
I like Josh and Nick both and think both deserve better than MeAndi.

As if! There's a camera crew with him, and the hotel clerk isn't supposed to know what's going on, that Andi Dorfman is the B'ette? Laughable.
This is something I do know, having a family member working at a venue that TB has used often ~ The hotel clerks, activities companies, etc, sign confidentiality agreements. They are told in advance, and sign the agreements before any of the cast arrives.
