His mom asked if he was prepared to not be the one on his hometown date and he said yes he has been heartbroken before but it was worth it. Thought it was interesting the edit let that be shown..... forshadowing

^^ I think that was definite foreshadowing. I think that Nick has had a lot of doubts in this process, but we aren't being shown them, which is another edit clue to being F2 potentially.

He said in two promos the ITM: "I don't have any confidence in my relationship with Andi" and a voice over "I am afraid it won't be me at the end".

I think that underneath all his "confidence" he was constantly seeking reassurance.

I agree with this which is why I am excited for final 2 episodes. But I also wonder if those clips were from after the mime date/Cody fiasco which led him to say "We're back" in Venice.

Yes, I noticed all that you guys have outlined and also saw it as foreshadowing. I wish I could see a positive thing - but Nick is looking more than likely F2.... sad.

I think so too. He seemed SO happy when Bella said Andi is in love with him and crestfallen when she adorably changed her story 2 seconds later. And actually that episode that started the majority of his "confidence," he seemed totally on edge to me. I don't know what's really going on (when do I ever??) but there is something totally manufactured about this storyline and his confidence. I think his snarky sense of humor and insecurities were just a great combo for tptb to play with for the most part.

Agreed, I thought the same thing about Brussels, when he went to see her he was very skittish and he said that "he thinks he knows where he stands but he needed to find out before hometowns" that whole episode I thought he was having a minor breakdown.

This lines up with the early spoilers before the season started, that he needed by far the most reassurance and that Andi had to keep reassuring him.

Even Possessionista in her blog referred to him as the "most insecure confident guy". I think he was confident with his relationship, but I also think he overcompensated by saying how confident he was to shield his insecurities about not being the one, he voiced it multiple times last night and at other points in the season, however those were largely over-shadowed by his epic confident monologues.

I finally watched the video messages of Nick and Josh at abc.com. Those were... interesting.

OK. I always suspect they splice and dice the lead's reaction shots, so we can't tell if he or she is getting teary eyed over the future F1.

Last season, Juan was visibly crying over Clare's, possibly because...
a.) he was planning to dump her
b.) he genuinely was in love with her before Helicopter Fiasco Time... or
c.) he was actually crying over Nikki's instead and it was all slice & dice. What else is new with those $%#@ing editors? NEVER NEVER NEVER NEVER will they give us an HONEST Show.

Andi, for her part, looked pretty much the same during both. Great work, editors!

One interesting feature. They really zoomed on her face when Josh talked, but kept her face at a distance with Nick's. Huh?

Concerning the videos themselves. Well... guess I have to get opinionated here and say that I favored Nick's even though he hardly "wow"-ed me. I don't know why I felt so "cool" and detached with Josh's. He wasn't saying anything wrong... or doing anything wrong. It just sounded a bit too ESPN-ish for me. People who talk that fast make me sometimes question their sincerity, since they are rushing through a speech. Maybe Josh is sincere, but he is still a hard one to "read".

Then again, Andi is hard to "read" herself. When saying she was confident there is "great love" in one of these guys, she reminded me of a research scientist conducting tests on these guys. Maybe I just don't understand her. Does everybody else here see her all gooey in love?

Then again, so much of last episode was just... odd. That scene with Chris departing had a peculiar "staged" feel to it, as if he knew it would happen and was emotionally prepared. Also there wasn't much "foreplay" or on screen discussion before Andi and Josh hopped in the hot-tub. Humorously, that was the very first one we got this season too as I recall. Even Desiree did it with Bryden and Kasey before her F1 Chris last year. I kinda laughed during it because neither Andi nor Josh looked all "into" doing it, but probably were told to by the handlers since Nick didn't on his. (He got the "heart lagoon make-out" instead.)
