Except for one time, when he snuck out to meet her. However, next time he was with her on the GD, after Josh told her he was falling in love, I couldn't see that same chemistry anymore.

Great posts. I have to agree that I don't see the same connection with Nick as with Josh. We also don't know the rest of Josh's date. I'm not expecting the whole FSD to be spent with a bunch of people. Could be though. I'm on the Josh bus still, sbolduc! Thanks for the opposing view though.

Wow, thought there would be a few posts to read this morning! Short post from me-

WTG everyone on us knowing Chris was going and Josh & Nick would be in the F2. It's interesting the two guys she has at the end...one is full of life & energy and so much fun, happy most of the time and just makes one smile. On the other hand you got the other who is the opposite and does and says "just the right things" to impress the girl, which I've questioned throughout this process. Throw in the preview with Andi STILL doubting if her and Josh can work...really??! I HOPE she does pick Nick if she's feeling that way and we finally get Josh as our bach...but you can tell by her face and the way she looks at Josh, there's just something more there and she wants it to be him.

Nick-I liked the fairytale book...but it seemed to perfect. And who has their hands in their pocket when they tell the girl they love them? So weird, she's always been the one pursing this relationship, touching him. Sorry still not a Nick fan, so won't say anymore about him.

Josh-I love how he is, his enthusiasm for life. He's believable when he tells Andi how he feels, he shows her in every move and how he looks at her. The aphrodisiac-hahaha, that was funny! The way he teases Andi, she needs that.

Chris-next bachelor for sure, be interesting the women cast for him! The whole date was painful to watch. Love the way Chris handled it and at the end he kissed her hands, sweet guy!

Loved Andi's first bathing suit cover and her finale dress, gorgeous!

I can't wait to see IF Andi does choose Josh and dumps Nick, especially with the way he didn't believe in the process...on the other hand, if she picks Nick (can't imagine they'd still be together) and Josh is left standing there, I really want him for the next bach, not Chris!

I'll leave the edit and all that other to you all, I'm just going by what I see at this point.

I have so many thoughts running through my head about last night. I'll make a longer post later (I'm sure you all can't wait!)

To me Josh fought hard for Andi. When times were tough, as happens in real life, he fought for THEM. I believe without Josh #teamjodi would never have happened. She had insecurities in the beginning, and he reassured her time and time again he was not that person. She knows that now and likely has for some time, but TPTB continued with the doubt for SL purposes. Finally TPTB let us see that side of him last night. Because of this I do see them as one of the few Bachelor/Bachelorette couples that will make it in real life too.

My favorite moments last night where when they were on the bench and he told her he loved her. When I looked at her it seems as if she wanted to cry tears of joy, but had to hold it in. I think when they are whispering he tells her "you're amazing" and then maybe "I'm blessed". Fairly certain about the first, but not as confident about the last. Then during the late night swim (I'll get to that in another post) when he is doing the PIs about his unconditional love and support for her I was in full fangirl mode as he also appeared to be tearing up. You can see the glaze over his eyes as he tries to hold it together. Those were shot at the mansion it appears. So he likely filmed those either after the show or while he was in CA during/after the F4 RC.

I hope someone will post SC from the preview in the No Discussion thread as there are some things I would like to sleuth. I will go back to the episode for TL purposes, but I would like some caps to discuss. One thing I notice is that Josh has been wearing a yellow band since at least his HTD if not before. I'm sure the spoiled side sleuthed these out long ago, but let's see if the unspoiled side can figure it out. I noticed in the previews he has on a purple one too. That seemed to be new, but I want to go back and investigate. It doesn't look like something you would buy in a store though so I'm not sure when or why he has them. To me they just seem to have some meaning, but I have no idea. He always seems to have it on, even during the RCs, wearing a suit even during HTD RC. It not as if it is fancy enough to wear with something so formal. Just has me thinking.

Ok—let’s get down to business!!

I was excited for the show last night because I thought we were going to get some answers to the edit and see a glimpse of how Andi will be making her final choice. I think we did. For the sake of brevity, I am only going to focus on Andi with Nick and Josh. Let me also say upfront that my original opinion that Josh is F1 has been strengthened.

The edit:
Many have speculated why Nick got the beach/private island date; in my opinion, I think TPTB are just trying to mix things up a bit. IFRC, the edit in the past has been used to have the F1 insecurities alleviated and the relationship come to a firmer foundation. The couple is given the private island so that they can relax and “do nothing” but bask in their glory J . In Nick’s case this is the opposite of what happened. Although he gets the typical F1 date, his insecurities are compounded with this date. We see him fidgety, at a loss for words, rambling, etc…. all characteristics that have typically been seen with Josh and his edit. I think TPTB edited it this way to show that although Nick started out very confident and secure (even getting the F1 date—especially if he is a familiar with past shows and knows the ins and outs) he is now engulfed with insecurities. I think this is most likely how Nick is IRL; a little socially inept. Being on the private island left to their selves is a detriment with a lot of awkward discussions and silence; it is not the comfortable relaxed nirvana that it typically is for the final couple.

Josh IRL, is confident and secure in himself IRL compared with the edited Josh—insecure, giddy, unable to complete a sentence or give eye contact in Episode 2, etc… (more typical of Nick IRL) but now even without the “best” date (they spoke about him getting these in Belgium) he starts to become secure, take charge, able to communicate his emotions, etc…all those things he wasn’t able to do earlier on but does with ease now. Josh’s date—the town date typically given to the F2 or 3; filled with activity so that the couple stays busy and doesn’t have to worry about the lack of conversation. Josh and Andi’s date is nothing like this. In fact, the date is the springboard for good discussion and they become even more comfortable with each other and are more in their element (than Nick and Andi were on their date). You can tell that Andi is quite athletic; she hits that baseball more often than not. I’m sure she has played baseball a time or two prior to going on the show and may even do it recreationally. With this date, Andi and Josh are able to relax and be who they are IRL.

The dates:
There were a couple of things (in addition to the edit points above) that I saw in Nicks date. OT- Nice coordinating Andi’s swimsuit and Nick’s swim trunks! Andi was a bit over the top with her passion talk—especially since she was running away (14:38) and leaning away (14:56) in the ocean. Before I have some posters complaining – I readily admit there are plenty of examples of Andi responding favorably to Nick. I just thought the edit pointed out these 2 examples of what is said vs what is shown during Andi’s discussion. I also thought it was strange for Andi to be grilling Nick on how he is when a relationship ends and even talking about his family being worried about how he will be when the relationship ends. If Nick was F1, I think they would (should) be focusing on positives and not being concerned with past breakups and foreshadowing how future breakups may affect him! As mentioned previously, his insecurities are rampant during the time when he should be feeling most confident. He is rambling, sweating and their conversation is very awkward. Is anyone else wondering just how much time he had in between his morning date and the evening date?!? Really—time enough to write a story complete with illustrations?!? It makes me think that TPTB have a hand in these gifts. It was cute and a great keepsake for a couple but I, in no way think that NICK created it, JMO. When Nick said ILY to Andi (26:18) she gave little chuckle. In her ITM she has an awkward smile, she goes on to say that she is hopeful.

Josh’s date (in addition to the edit points above) was also very telling. In the preamble, they outline all of the insecurities that have led up to this date some of which have already been expelled (ie: Josh saying he is starting to have feelings for Andi). The only real question is whether or not his feelings have continued and are where they need to be so that he can get down on one knee and propose at the end of this. (In fact, I think that he already eluded to this at his HTD—giving her the roses and telling her that he wants to give her that 10^th rose and propose but, for the sake of the edit, I’ll pretend I am still as confused as Andi giggling

) HILARIOUS—the aphrodisiac—like they need one!

OT—according to Wikipedia: Mama Juana (or mamajuana) is a drink from the Dominican Republic that is concocted by allowing rum, red wine, and honey to soak in a bottle with tree bark and herbs. The taste is similar to port wine and the color is a deep red. The specific herbs that make up Mamajuana were originally prepared as an herbal tea by the native Taino Indians; post-Columbus, alcohol was added to the recipe. Besides being rumored to be an aphrodisiac, with many natives of the Dominican Republic claiming that the drink has similar effects, Mamajuana is also consumed for its medicinal value. The alcohol is said to act as an extract base that pulls the herbs' curative properties, creating an herbal tincture often served as a shot. The reported positive effects on health vary, ranging from a flu remedy, to a digestion and circulation aid, blood cleanser, and kidney and liver tonic.

Loved his response: She says thank you! The baseball game was going back to Andi’s criticism of Juan Pablo last season—that he didn’t pay attention to what others wanted/were feeling (although we all know that was because he was only interested in Nikki and was going through the motions with the others!) Josh even spells out that it is nice that Andi knows that baseball is important to me and ….the fact that she’s doing that for me is a big deal. Afterwards when they sit down to talk about his HTD (Again: Nick’s HT=how he handles breakups / Josh’s HT=the fact that he is ready to have a family) and he tells her ILY—how does Andi respond? Does she have a nervous chuckle and wide smile (like she did with Nick)? NO—is starts giggling (like he did episode 2) pulls him in by his neck and starts kissing him. Anyone else see that he gets teary (35:22)?!? He also acknowledges that the reason it has been difficult for him to say it wasn’t that he didn’t feel it but more that he knew she could respond back to him saying it. Everyone else (except 1) who threw that out early on has exited saying I feel like an idiot—well, he held onto it a little longer until he was more sure of how she feels for him. How does Andi respond during her ITM? Not with a nervous giggle and big non-committal smile she says: more than I expected and could ask for! That little pout and head shaking (36:15) tells me that he is still talking about being in love with her (has tears in his eyes again at 36:25) and it is her response as if to say— that makes me happy, ILY too.…not that she is “hopeful” . Her next moment saying that she is still “not sure...I need to make sure he’s serious about getting down on one knee”—come on, good grief, he almost (if in fact, he didn’t!) proposed to her that afternoon; all TPTB inspired! Josh goes on to say: you know what that means to me (to say ILY). Andi goes on in her ITM to say that it was good to hear him say that but she does know it deep down, as well. AND THE FS—WOW! Anyone else remember “back in the day” when we could tell the F1 by who had the nicest FS? I think Josh got it hands down! I wonder what a night in that suite runs?!? I would also point out that the FS with a private swimming pool trumps a city date in my mind any day!

The previews:
I am a little saddened that TPTB are portraying Nick as arrogant (as they guys said) but also as cocky —this directly ties in to the stereotyping that Andi did with Josh; she thought he was cocky instead of serious at the beginning vs thinking Nick was serious but instead he is cocky. I do think that with the greater understanding of him from his HT, he will be broken hearted when Andi chooses Josh. It will be interesting to see how he’s doing at ATFR. I think the previews show the typical drama—will he/won’t he propose. I think the tears in the car are based on the fact that she will be breaking Nick’s heart and that weighs heavily on her. In the end, I think (hope!) we will have a happy couple with a twirl at the end. giggling

What does everyone else think?

^^ They are, GG! Great posts, everyone! Just finishing watching and, oh boy, imo we are finally really getting a love story this season. I thoroughly enjoyed Andi's and Josh's date and will be totally shocked if she picks Nick. The last season that seemed so clear to me by overnights was Ashley and JP. That's a long time ago!

Neither do I, Libby. Also, it looked like there were 400+ words on each page. That would take a long time. Maybe Nick worked on it the week after HTDs before DR. But the last illustration was from the day portion of their date, so yeah, it was sweet, but there's no way I think he had time to do that. He was so awkward and continually playing with his hair -- that was hard to watch. I see Andi likes him, but I still don't see anything close to what I see with Andi and Josh.

Libby, yes! I saw Josh tear up on the day portion on the bench. Did Andi tear up too, in response to seeing his emotion? I couldn't tell.

Interesting, GG! I'd love to see the screencaps. I hadn't noticed the ribbons, but I do know that Andi went to LSU and their colors are purple and yellow. Wonder if there's anything to that? That would realllllly be love, since Josh went to an opposing SEC football powerhouse. giggling

Thank you for including the wiki of Mama Juana juice, Libby. I was worried that was something really bad! Josh speaking Spanish with the locales was great. He seemed so comfortable in that environment, and it was one of the more believable city dates of the last few seasons.

Chris going home was handled well and he seems like a great guy. Perfect exit for the next Bachelor. I'm still not excited about that, though. There's really no one in this cast compelling enough to carry the lead, except Josh. And, he's happily taken (at least I hope so!) :yes:
