We don't know if he used the word phony! She says in the sneak peak that he told her she had a poker face. I am willing to bet that Eric had no idea she was going to react that way. He maybe even thought she was going to give him reassurance and instead she went off and sent him home.

Here is RS statement at the end of today's column about the circumstances surrounding Eric's exit:

I’ll be back with another column tomorrow which I’m sure a lot of you will have thoughts on since, judging from the previews, looks like they are going to show Eric’s exit in full. I mean, they’re showing Andi’s reaction to after she let Eric go and they even show Eric leaving in a cab, so it looks like they’re gonna show the whole thing. Here’s what I can tell you how he left. During the cocktail party, Eric and Andi got into an argument outside. He confronted her about being fake and being an actress who wasn’t reallyt here to find love. This obviously set her off, she got upset, she starts crying, she let him go and ends up canceling the cocktail party. Looks like we will see more of that conversation tonight but that’s the gist of it. Eric thought she was being a bit phony and called her out on it. Does it make Eric a bad person? Of course not. That’s his opinion and he’s entitled to it. If that’s what he witnessed, then that’s what he felt like he needed to express to her.
Unfortunately, the circumstances surrounding what happened to Eric after the fact magnify this situation. If Eric were alive today, this thing would have been promoted from the very get go, because unfortunately, Eric’s drama is what brought the mood down in Connecticut. If he was eliminated at a rose ceremony, it would’ve been easy not to show. But this was a separate argument she has outside with him, it got a little heated, and it made Andi upset enough to start crying and cancel the cocktail party. In a sense, Eric is right. Of course she’s acting. Every lead has to act or else there wouldn’t be a show. They act like they like some people more than they do, and they have to act like they don’t like someone as much even though they really do. It’s part of the job. Eric had every right to call her out on it if that’s how he felt, especially if they just had a 1-on-1 date less than two weeks previous and he’s noticing a change in her behavior. He called her out, she got upset and sent him home. So yeah, it didn’t end well for him and it certainly wasn’t positive, but the show wants you to see everything that happened, so it looks like they’re gonna show it. I don’t know how they don’t considering they’ve already showed her reaction to it.
Seeing a guy who got the first 1-on-1 of the season already gone by episode 4, you knew this was bothering him enough to speak up. And unfortunately the guy ended up passing before this topic could’ve been examined more in depth at the “Men Tell All.” Guys were not happy with Eric and this drama he brought to the table, right or wrong. It’s just how they felt at the time. Obviously in the grand scheme of things, it’s small potatoes. Eric spoke his mind before he left, and unfortunately, this will be the lasting image of him on the show. But lets not pigeonhole the guy into whatever they show tonight because he’s obviously much more than that. Because he didn’t like a girl on a reality TV show and called her out for not being real and being an actress doesn’t minimize anything he’s previously done in his life. Talking about it the day he died wasn’t necessary. Too soon. But you’ve all been asking since he died what the circumstances were surrounding his exit, and the show certainly looks like they’re not shying away from it, so that’s what happened. I’m sure what airs tonight will be a lightning rod topic for the next week or so.

I know this will not be popular opinion, but….
I think it doesn't reflect unfavorably on Eric. I do think though, for Andi, that it wasn't her fault either. I know some will crucify her for this, but I really believe you lead people on, especially in week 3. I don't think she actually lead all on (like JJ for instance) but she may have had an interest in Eric. She wasn't going to only concentrate on 1 or 2. First of all, she couldn't be totally sure at that point, second of all, there would be no show.
I am sure it is tough on the guys being there in the moment…….I wonder if he was truly interested n her, would he have approached it a little differently and not left??

Yeah, but what I'm seeing is that Andi goes too far. She's manipulating the guys into mistaking her seeking ATTENTION (all about her. She loves them chasing her) for AFFECTION. They are ALL being point blank lead on. They are thinking that she is into them ONLY.

I've seen the previous leads sort of stroke the guys egos to get the show finished (so they didn't bolt), whereas Andi shows too much interest crossing the line. To me, THAT is not making anyone feel special, but she IS being FAKE, as fake can get.....bless her little heart.  :shocked!:

Nope it totally agree with everything you said.

Poor Andi, she's about to get crucified for Eric. Luckily Josh the grown ass protector is 2 blocks away so hopefully he'll have the wine flowing and the chocolate all ready for her tonight.

Honestly I feel bad for Andi as she's going to be CRUCIFIED tonight.

Eric was a wordly, traveled person. He has seen a lot of simple, spontaneous things in his travels and different threads of real life.
I would suspect the entire scene of the "just so happens" flowers being delivered during his time, Andi taking the time to address the flowers and note, again, during his time and then being off kilter the rest of her time shown with him, made a huge impact.
Did it make him realize what a farce this was compared to real life? Perhaps. But it definitely showed the differences between real life and reality tv and maybe he asked himself did he really want to be a part of this.
In real life there are no retakes. In real life you would have had the social graces to say: "Oh flowers how nice." Moved them off to the side and address them at a more appropriate time. This is reality tv. So they made the most of Andi's response and some of it regardless of producer ploy]
