I honestly don't know much about Chris' involvement with the family farm to comment, but having families that are supportive emotionally and seem connected and sociable together is a good thing in my mind. Disconnected/dysfunctional families seem to be a problem in these days and times. I absolutely love the relationship that Josh seems to have with his family. I think Nick probably also has that kind of support and socialization with his large family, but could certainly understand his breaking away for just a bit of space for himself having grown up in that large of a family. They all seem like great guys, and that in part stems from good family foundations.noobsleuth wrote:Keep in mind RS was living in a modest apartment and selling blankets (?) when he first started spoiling, but now I don't know. Loaded to him could me anything. I think Nick is established which is something I find incredibly attractive about him and would personally be drawn to. It seems like most who go on the show are in some sort of transitional point of their lives and are basically of the mindset, well you know I have this job that pays the bills, but going on TV could open up more doors (more money) so they happily leave their old job behind. Nick already has the good job, nice apartment, and established social circle in one of the biggest cities in the world. IMO that sets him apart most contestants. Josh and Chris seem to still be tied very much to their families for support and socializing. Nothing wrong with that, it's just a different lifestyle.
I didn't mean financially. We live close to both of our families and its every Sunday dinner and go to people to hang out with are siblings. Nick living in a different state as his family doesn't allow things like that. Like I said it's just two different lifestyles.
I have a crazy family and am attracted to men who are close to theirs, I think to make up for what I lacked. It is all a difference in perspective to me.
That being said, I think Nick still lives very close to his family, so could be just as involved with them. I am interested to see the HTD.

From Sharleen Joynt blog:
more here: http://www.alltheprettypandas.com/recaps/This was a very heavy episode in more ways than one. Every date this week had me thinking to myself: EVIL PRODUCTION. (Referring to the producers' influence on how things unfold... bearing in mind I love the producers but know they have a job to do.)
This recap, like the rest, consists of my personal opinions alone. I was not involved in this season and know nothing about its production. I merely speculate using logic and what I learned from my own experience on the show.

Great recap and I agree with her on everything. What Sharleen said about the Eric confrontation is what I wish we heard Andi say in her sit down with CH monday night.

ITA. I especially liked what she said about the Eric and Andi conversation. I can't imagine what Eric's family must have been feeling about having this on TV especially with how he left the show.
Sharleen is a good writer and I love her sense of humor.

Me too!!! I love Sharleen. I also agree with what she said about production. I have no doubt that Eric would have gotten a worse edit than he got, had he not been killed in that accident. EVIL PRODUCTION.

In particular, I think she was on point with her comments about Andi and Eric. While I also understand and agree that Dylan needs time to grieve, how I can endorse his decision is that in coming on the show he was prioritizing himself. From what he said, he has taken on the responsibility of caring for him mom (since his dad has been out of the picture) which is typically very burdensome. When we are in the role of caretaker, it makes it much more difficult to go inward (which is why many people become caretakers in an effort to avoid their internal landscape) and confront the pain. As Sharleen said from experience, Dylan had many hours doing filming for introspection and healing. I hope that is what he found.

Many past contestants have mentioned that the isolation from normal life gave them the chance to reflect and share with others. That is also the reason many lifelong friendships are created among them. If anything else, Dylan's openness to talk about his losses is the beginning of the healing process. Kubler-Ross's classic theory on death/grieving process involves denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance and not necessarily in this linear order.

Chris, I think, was really pivotal in helping Dylan. He was just the right guy at the right time for Dylan to feel comfortable enough to share his story with. I think that then made it easier fir Dylan to talk with Andi about the same thing.
Love me some Chris who epitomizes compassion. In other words, as much as I like Sharleen, I disagree with her assessment of this situation with regard to Dylan talking about his past but I think talking about it to Chris would have been sufficient. A repeat with Andi could have been eliminated however she was likely given a prompt from producers and followed through.
