Sometimes their first choices aren't comfortable with this sort of role - it can't be easy and just because the guys have a fan following doesn't mean they want or can  - be a lead.

From what I remember at the time, viewers didn't warm up to Kiptyn as producers had expected. There was quite a swell for Reid but he apparently was asking for too much money and concessions so they went with easy sell out Jake...remember, people didn't hate him at the end of Jillian's season. He was still looked on fairly favourably...the hate came later.

Chris L had a huge following and they really wanted him, but he had met Payton...at one of the schmooze fests they had actually set up to woo him...and he turned them down...and the rest is history.

I think a lot of times they go into a season with an idea of who they want for the next lead and for some reason, that person doesn't exactly light up the screen and the audience doesn't really warm up to them and they have to re-think. Of course, sometimes, people wise up after seeing what can happen during filming and in editing and decide it isn't really worth it!...Of course, those are usually the people who are more sincere and aren't in it to start a career in Hollywood.

I heard the same thing about Reid and was glad at the time since I'm not a fan. I think Kiptyn was too laid back to be a good fit although heaven knows he'd have been so much better than Jake. I heard they were trying hard to get Chris L but remember him being unhappy with his edit and the impact on his family. I doubt he was going to do it even before he met Peyton which was at a golf tournament that CH invited him to. I was a little disappointed he wasn't doing it but so happy when he met & fell in love with Peyton. They're my favorite couple ever related to the show.  :sweetlove: 

It's going to be hard to know who will be a fan favorite and other things seem to play into the choice. I don't even have a pre-season favorite yet.

When i raised my question, i completely forgot about the infamous Reid's comeback at FRC ...

I am going to post this in a few threads on here so that it doesn't get missed but our buddy Carlos in the DR has said that the guy dancing with Andi in Santo Domingo had DARK hair. Josh is the only one of the F4 that has dark hair.

When first asked, Carlos responded that he thought that of the four pics given for his perusal, he figured "J". (pics were identified with first initials only) Then, when asked to clarify with hair colour, Carlos said that the guy had dark hair. So, his first response by looking at all four pics was J (Josh) and then followed up with the hair colour confirmation.

I threw this out there a few days ago, but Stephanie Murray posted on twitter again yesterday another picture of Josh's dog Sabel and the caption mentioned how she's getting used to becoming a lap dog. I would assume if Josh went home at F4, unless production is keeping the F4 guy until filming is complete, that he would want his dog back considering its been about two months. I guess this seems to coincide with Chloep's info about possibly hearing Josh was in the F3.

As well, this person posted yesterday that Josh is in the DR filming...

I thought that Nick Viall has dark hair as well. What picture did you send him?

There is also a comment on RS page from someone who works with nick and he has not returned to work as of today.

I have a feeling all of the F4 may be sequestered and that none of them has returned home yet.
