This is very sad news to say the least. I have no medical experience what so ever but, prayers for the induced coma to be a good thing, helping him heal.

Thanks for the updates, I saw the post yesterday and wondered if there was any news today.

Definitely tragic, hoping all goes well over time.

Quick explanation (skip if your not interested): Generally a coma is induced to allow time for the swelling in the brain to reduce. The affected areas could/do have less blood flow therefore a comatose state requires the brain to work less and is intented to protect it and promote healing. The location of the acquired injury does make a big difference.
Once the induced coma is reversed, therapy is typically required.

Friends: Eric has been in a horrible paragliding accident and is currently in critical condition in a coma. Things are not looking good right now...please, all across the world, even if you're not a praying person, please pray for him. He needs your prayers more than ever.

When I found out the news yesterday, I had trouble sleeping last nite even with a prayer said. I'm hoping he comes through despite the updates. This is devastating.

He is in an induced coma, however, he wasn't conscious when found, and I haven't seen any report that he regained consciousness prior to the induced coma.
