Do you think Sharleen leaves and comes back?

My speculation is that she doesn't go beyond hometowns (not that we ever see many hometown shots in promos anyway to be sure) and she and Juan separate amicably. Yet there is so much "concern" about her connection with Juan as there was with Tierra and Sean.

For me the line of "it makes me sick" is interesting in itself. Mike the G-Man used the line "It makes me feel sick to my stomach" regarding James last season, not that we can go with much there.

Another suggestion... in Ashley and Ben's seasons, a separate thread was used for PI shots. The editors always have contestants "time travel" from future episodes to speak in earlier ones... like Sharleen. I noticed that Andi time-traveled from the future saying she hadn't spent much time with Juan... la-dee-da... and I suspect that the editors are trying to make her more of a "frontrunner" than she really is. Yes, she kissed Juan in the concession stand, but the editors DON'T want us to know how limited her time with Juan is at a later time so they make her PI words "appear" to be spoken in week #3 instead of, let's say week #5 or #6.

Way back in Ali's season, they had Chris Lambton talk about the Turkey wrestling date after Ali dumped him and his face was beat red from crying. Many at the time question why he looked "sick" in episode #6 when it was actually shot the day his "last chance date: ended abruptly.

Like-wise many of Ashley Hebert's PIs were shot in mid-May after production ended, with her sporting the same hair perm she had for a TV Guide interview. Her line of (paraphrasing) "Bentley, if you are watching, I'm *bleep* done with you" was long after FRC! I am guessing she got some extra "inside scoop" regarding Bentley post-show.

Talking about " time travelling" I noticed that the scene where Sharlene said "it makes me sick" plus the other similar looking one where she had on a lacy white cover-up were shot at the mansion. From what we know so far, they will not be returning to LA for filming until after the HTD's (F4 eliminations), so it's possible those were filmed at that time. Including the one that was shown of her last week, presumably talking about Clare's "possessiveness." This would have been early November so that would explain the turtle neck top. Another one used last week from a future date, is the PI of Clare crying over JP and bla bla (the one we matched to the girl in the ocean), that one was most definitely taken from St Lucia and used to further her "crazy girl" edit.

That line of "it makes me sick" is The Great Mystery of the season. Watch it be about something unimportant, like Venezuelan cuisine.

Both Sharlene and Clare constantly having JP cajoling and encouraging them onward is getting a bit annoying and we haven't even started yet   .
It makes me wonder if either of these 2 ladies are his F1 then how are they going to deal with the ever presence of Camilla's mother in "their" lives.

Picking the insecure/jealous/manipulative/inconsiderate girl is the worst thing he could do. But of course he keeps them over some of the nicer milder gals.

Yes, nd, that unaccounted cap could be Miami. I haven't seen it as a background in any other cap...yet. However, at that point in the season, I don't believe they have a cocktail party...so are you suggesting this is Juan's goodbye to Sharleen? Or is this one of those, "Hey, can I talk to you a minute before you start handing out roses?" Either way, yes, it could be Miami.

That's an interesting point you make about an insecure F1. Dealing with an ex who Juan is so comfortable with will be an interesting test of the F1's internal fortitude. However, if the ex (don't know her name) makes it more than clear she is done with Juan as a boyfriend/lover, I could see it being okay. It's really about how secure Juan helps her feel at that point. Right now in the show, he's not ready to do that. I doubt at this point of the filming that he would know who his F1 was going to be...otherwise, he'd be closed off to the possibilities.

I've actually made a chart for the individual dates this season, based on caps. It's floating around in this thread somewhere. I'm only confident in my F6 girls -- Andi, Chelsie, Clare, Nikki, Renee and Sharleen. I'm confident that Nikki and Clare make it to St. Lucia...so they are in the F3. I don't know who the third girl is.

There are caps I call the Mountain-Top-Girl who I'm am strongly leaning to be Clare, which would make her in the F2. I haven't been able to clean up the cap enough to make out the girl's face, but the hair indicates a blonde with dark roots, leaving Clare and Nikki to be the top two choices. She also appears to be very short compared to Juan, which eliminates Nikki. So if I was forced to make a choice, I'd pick Clare as the Mountain-Top-Girl.

As far as Sharleen leaving and coming back, that's a working theory only if the cap nd mentioned above can be identified as St. Lucia. I think the performance at the end of October being removed from her website calendar recently, indicates something is being covered up  :con1: There are the seemingly distraught caps with and without Juan in a hotel room. There's a story there, but what is it? Whatever happens with Sharleen, I don't think she makes to F1. That's just an intuitive guess, I really don't know. This week's promo (posted in one of our threads) suggest a conversation she has with Juan about motherhood...so this next episode may shed more light on their dynamic. She runs hot and cold to me. I'm not sure I'm buying her interest in Juan. Either that or she in very inexperienced in relationships...she comes off as awkward...IMO.

If someone forced me to pick an F1 based on caps and the episodes shown, I think I'd have to go with Clare. Clare has the obstacle to overcome laid out pretty clear. I have no idea what Nikki's obstacle will be. We don't even know who the third girl is and what is her obstacle will be. IIRC, the F1 always has to overcome an obstacle to be resolved at the end, right? But actually, it's too early for me to call. I wouldn't put money on Clare. I'm not confident in that at all.

I actually think it might be part of the back to back episodes. I think she leaves (maybe on her own) and when she comes back he says no. Her work date is missing because that would be the answer to the cliffhanger we will get. She does have a lot of mystery caps and Andi only has one, but Andi's is a happy one. JP likes an easy going girl as he mentioned about Chelsea and Sharleen is the opposite of Chelsea. Sharleen went from a reasonable reaction of being surprised and unsure of him with the first rose to girl possessed seemingly overnight. Based on that (and her kissing) I agree with Litta that she is inexperienced. Renee is such an obvious fit and choice for him, but of course he will not see that.

We need some more SCs!! Does anyone know why there're not extended previews on Grapevine this season?

ETA: If someone forced me to pick an F1, I would say it's the girl in the red and white boat.

She's a cutie with a lot of energy. I'm kind of hoping she's being considered for the 'ette.

Chelsie is super cute. And from the next preview SCs - she seems to be having a blast with the dancing thing ! They need to highlight her a bit more though for next lead since she seemed to come out of nowhere (to the viewers) on that date.

It is too early, BUT... The Drama Queen is the one getting the "goods" so far.

I will go into some "editing" territory here briefly. If we get too far off track, this discussion can be moved to that thread.

Going through Clare's solo date and Nikki's sitdown in the last episode, we get the beginnings of their storylines and, most importantly, how Juan views each of them. Yes, it is still early, but voice-overs and what the editors decide to show us reflects future events.

Juan on Clare:

Tonight Clare talked to me about her dad and things that I would like to know about her. / I’m glad that she’s here and that she’s able to open up a little bit and I want her to feel like she is safe and she can open up more.

If you had a father who treated you like a princess, you want a man who treats you like a princess… though. Why would you not have that standard? We have high standards. Clare and I definitely have high standards on relationships, so… I want her to stay because I enjoy being with her. Just feels like it is right.

Love is very important to me. I want to have that person I can wake up every day with. So I am looking forward to see how this adventure will keep growing because I feel happy with Clare.

Poor Kat. On her date that same episode, he uses the EXACT line with her, but with a TOTALLY different ending:
"I am looking forward to see how this adventure will keep growing because I am very hopeful this process can work.".

Ouch! We can easily rule Kat out as a contender. With Kat, it is all about "the process". LOL!

Let's face it. If Clare starts spinning her head around and spitting out pea soup, Juan will still be all aglow at this stage! Until some Mystery Girl emerges from The Shadows as our new Final One, we are STUCK with Clare for the time being.

Juan on Nikki:

Since she hasn't had a solo date, we just have the following on the doggie group date:
"Nikki’s taking care of her dog. Somebody’s looking pretty. She’s cute. She’s sexy too."

Let's not forget his reaction to her limo arrival... fist in the mouth!

Here is the bulk (not every exact word) of their sitdown on the last show…

Nikki: Tonight I am hoping for something a little more intimate, a little more 1 on 1. I wants some time to explain who I am and kinda why I’ve been a little shy, a little reserved so far.
Nikki to Juan: So what was your biggest fear coming into this.
Juan: Hurting people.
Nikki: Yeah?
Juan: Yeah. That’s the biggest one. What was your biggest fear?
Nikki: I think my biggest fear, honestly was me getting hurt. You know, when you open up to someone, you open that door wide open to get hurt and that’s probably what my biggest fear WAS.
Juan tapping her forehead: That’s why you have…. [not sure of his word here] Up there.
Nikki: Yeah. It is.
Juan: So what are we gonna do about that?
Nikki: I don’t know.
Juan: What about you?
Nikki: No. I know, like, I really want to be here and I really like you. It is just, sometimes, I know, honestly, the whole pressure of such a short time and decision for me is just… I like… it’s nerve wrecking.
Juan: I want you to be here. You have something that I like. You have a psyche…  don’t know what. You know, like your vibe. You know, you’re sexy. I did the (gesturing to his shoulder as she laughs) …. So tell whatever you want. (OK) That I’m all ears and want to know more and I like you.
Nikki: Good. / Tonight, sitting with Juan Pablo was easy… and this whole time I’ve been stressed out about ‘what am I gonna say to him’ because I don’t know how long I have. Someone might interrupt me and, tonight, I was like… forget it. It was so much better.
Juan: This is my life.
Nikki: You are so much in your element, like…
Juan: It feels like a home.
Nikki: Exactly.

After hugging, she comments about not kissing, like Renee did at the dog photo show. We then cut into Andi going straight for the kissing part without much talk. Right away, the editors are suggesting that Andi is focused strictly on the "physical" part (since she thinks her kiss guarantees a rose but Nikki gets it instead without kissing).

I don't know... Nikki could be F1. We just have to see more of her.

The only problem with Nikki at this stage is that, like Chelsie and her bungee jump and Andi's nudie photo shoot, the talk is mostly about "getting over fear". Cassandra gets some similar lines that Clare gets about "opening up", but he isn't discussing Cassandra WITH himself as much as he is with Clare... making me think Cassandra's days are limited.

^^^ JBF - we actually had 1on1 time with Nikki shown in episode 2 as well. His BL towards Nikki with no 1on1 date was pretty intense (stroking her hair, nearly touching her shoulder and carrying her across the mud garden to the seat for their convo.) than what he has displayed towards Clare (hand on her leg) who already had a 1on1 and therefore a connection. At the episode 2 GD he was talking about her work. Perhaps you can add that convo and put it all in the editing thread itself.

As you said, we need to see more of what pieces of their various convos they show in future episodes to make a judgement call. I too see a strong case for Clare to be F1 but we have yet to see too much of the other ladies.

ETA : IMO the fact that he did not mention Nikki in his blog despite giving her the GR says a lot.

Can you clarify this, nd? Are you saying it's a good sign or a bad sign for Nikki to not be mentioned and to be F1? And why?

I just find it completely weird that he did not mention her and why he (imo randomly) gave the rose to Nikki. Either he is (tptb)trying to 'hide' something or he is deliberately leaving that out of his blog so that his F1 does not get upset.
What I do know is that in Brad seasons some of us noticed the consistent mention of Emily in the blogs turned out to be a 'shout out'. Ashley H mentioned JP whenever he did something noteworthy on screen.
I haven't seen a lead leave out talking about a contestant that got a GR or did something that the audience has clearly seen. If anyone has a reasonable possible explanation I would love to read it.

I suspect the 2nd of the two options but reserve the right to change my mind.

^^Well, if and I emphasize if, Clare is the F1, leaving Nikki completely out of his blog would certainly be honoring to Clare, IMO. From what we see on screen, the girls' relationship seems to be contentious. More things to consider, indeed!
