This time last week we were living on a dream.  Oh well...

The moments of having something that takes your breath away for a second...makes you refocus on what's important....Brooks Forester. I can't get out of my mind what he said in the park just before he met with his mom and sister, Jana. He said the fantasy date was next which was making him nervous as he didn't know what would happen afterwards. Personally, I think it was easier to talk himself out of the relationship than to find out. I don't know..just trying to figure out how and why he went so fast to running to her ....to running away from her !! I still haven't watched the big finale. It's recorded ...but I can't go there...

I listened to a PI again and I think it was the proposing that was scaring him. If there was no proposal he might have been more willing to keep dating her after the show. There were so many things he loved about her that he may never find again.

I'm old enough to be his mother and I've never tweeted before so I'll just share it with my forum friends!  I do follow him on twitter but I don't have a clue of what I'm doing.

I wonder if Des got a post-mortem from her producer friends in the weeks after taping.  I'm sure she was dying to know why Brooks had an abrupt change of heart, and was digging to find out what his mindset was during their travels and once he had his handler assigned.  Obviously she was really caught off guard, having thought he was falling in love.

Brooks was initially head over heels, I think he was really impressed by her attributes but also thought she was wholesome.  Their one-on-one date was so strong and he was excited and ready for the ride.  I still really feel that he became increasingly discouraged as she developed chemistry and relationships with the other guys, wondering if all her dates were just like his.  So he doubted - maybe their connection wasn't as strong after all.

He tweeted today:  "Inspiration comes while on the move. #keepmoving".  We know that during this show they are basically sequestered, so all that time spent sitting around thinking and trying to analyze and internalize did not his psyche.  Bottom line is I think Brooks really fell for Des but began putting up walls as the season progressed, instead of deciding to fight for her.  The only way this format would have worked for Brooks is if 1) Des had curtailed her outward affection with the other guys, 2) she had conveyed her feelings for him more openly throughout the process.  TPTB discourage both so Bres was doomed from the start.

good post laurentx, but I do disagree with the part that I bolded.  when Brooks and Des had their last 1/1 date on the fort with the fire works, Des told him she came up with a way to tell where they were in this process.  she then proceeded with the stepping, skipping, running and then the finish line.  then Brooks asked where did she see them, and she said running and he said he thought they were jogging and was pleased that they were close in their estimations.  then we came to the hometown date and he ran as she skipped, said how much he missed her, where has she been all his life (and she responded "right here") and all was going smoothly.  with his talks with his brothers, he claimed that the reason he brought her home to his family is because they have all the nuances of a relationship. his brother asks if Des can hang with him, and he says yes, she can and he explains the reasons why... she's spontaneous, she's funny, she's sarcastic, she looks for the best in people and that's where they meet on the same page and that what he sees in her, she sees in him.  then with his mom he talks about the process and how surreal it has been and that the walls that he had put up were coming down, and even tho it was hard to get into that vulnerable spot to fall in love, it was a good to feel that and it was a healing process. and then he said he was very surprised with Desiree to be at the point he was and they discussed that Des was asking about him possibly being ready for marriage.

so like Des, I want to know what on earth happened between her leaving at the htd and his getting on the plane to Antigua? when Des left SLC, he was not wanting to let her go, felt closer to the union of marriage than he had felt before (contradiction to his statement to CH at their talk). I wish I could be a fly on the wall and just know what could have turned him around so.  when he went to talk to his mom and sis, his biggest problem was did he love her enough to propose at the end of this. he knew he had an overnight date coming up and he wanted to be sure that he had "that crazy love" for her to propose at the end.

why did you think that atem... is it just cynicism? or was there something in the edit or non edit that led you there.  are you just a natural born non romantic person?  i'm being serious here... cause when I heard that I thought he would find his way to her, not leave her high and dry.
