So sad about Gia Allemand. She died today.

Kind of puts things in perspective when someone like Gia dies. Cherish the ones you love (including Brooks) because they could be gone tomorrow. Don't take anything or anyone for granted. Cherish the time you have with them. Treat them well. This is all so sad.

In Munich when he walked down the ice tunnel and came across her making out and rolling around with James (gross), I thought he was done at some level (on a second viewing).  Go watch that as well.  By Barcelona, Chris intensity is rising, and Brooks is fading (his feelings, not hers).  Who wouldn't be "over it" sitting around talking incessantly about that snippet of conversation Drew and Kasey over-heard in the van or whatever.  I saw Brooks starting to "lose it" -- also, look at how she handled the James thing.  Talk about wishy washy.  I'm not criticizing either of them -- it's just one of the "downs"  I think Brooks experienced in the long long drought between the Hollywood sign date and CLoud 9 in Madeira.   Each of these shows represents about a week of his life
1. Hollywood sign (feels great)
2. Nothing much
3. Dodgeball (broken finger, Chris gets the group date rose -- look at his face then)
4. Munich (Chris/Bryden show -- watches her make out with James)
5. Barcelona -- soccer date, not much time with her 1:1, but tons of gross drama and back and fro about James 



6. Madeira -- trying to regain lost ground, decides to use family visit as a test (the "struggle" is apparent in almost every screen shot if you look)
7.  HTD - freely confesses by the duck pond that he is up and down, and loses "it" when they are apart.  Des warmly embraced and received by family.  But hard questions that hang in the air.

That's Brooks' journey.  I think he showed a lot of character and self-awareness. And, as an aside, he would never trash Chris or Des, his friends, the way some do for sport.  

People always want to say the producers and editors lie.  And they do in the smaller settings -- to participants playing the "game" of the show, etc., but most of the time the Mega Story Arc for each character tracks their actual emotional journey.  That's what the production assistants are madly logging all day long (who said what on camera, on date, in a group, ITM), and then the story folks make it into an entertainment for us to watch.

 I do think that was a turning point for Brooks. If she was even remotely interested in James, Brooks had to question her romantic tastes since he was sooooo far from James in personality. I think he became less confident in Des at that point, as far as sharing the same ideals in a relationship.

I, too, think the same thing about how seeing James and Des kissing like that in the ice igloo impacted him.  I mentioned it before on the thread, and also had wondered during the actual filming if the James alone time was before or after Brooks' alone time.  I don't think it would make much dfference, but we did see how she pulled Brooks in for a passionate kiss while he was in mid-sentence.  That kiss, along with all of the James drama, and her keeping James around for the RC after they were all certain she would send him home had to be disconcerting and confusing.  

I think.... that Des was so wrapped up n being the "bachelorette" that at the beginning she lost sight of why she was there. I know I'm not the only one who thought that in the beginning of the show she spread herself too thin. I could never tell which guys she really liked because she was making out with all of them. It was hard for me to see much difference between her kisses with Brooks and Bryden in episode 1 and from there she went on to makeout with pretty much everyone else she had a 1 on 1 date with, not to mention several guys back to back on group dates. She was so worried about giving every relationship a chance that the one she clearly wanted from the beginning she let slip away because of it. I remember when Graham told Deanna that he didn't want to be one in a bunch and she was annoyed because it was her time to figure out what she wanted. She pretty much told him that she couldn't do that for him at that time (she was indeed the Bette after all) and again, after his first 1 on 1 date and her refusal to give him special treatment, he began to slip away, and then he left.

If you go back and look at the Bachelor seasons you can see where the Bach gives special treatment to his F1. With Brad and Emily it was the picnic, Ben and Jake both took their F1s to special, secretive spots... Ben even went skinny dipping with his! If Des had it bad for Brooks, she had an odd way of showing him that he was special to her.

Yep that is odd.  Des did take Chris to her room and wrote him poems/did sketches.  Maybe that was a sign that he was the F1 all along.

I disagree. I would point out that there was ample things they didn't show us...the note Des wrote to Brooks of all their special moments was filled with stuff we did not see. I would point them running off together in AC that they didn't show us. Des talked about them passing notes which we never saw. But that aside we only had to watch and see the words coming out of her mouth (not PIs or VOs)

Des wanted Brooks. Told us over (in Germany after 1 on 1 with Chris), and over (in Madeira after 1on1 with Chris), and over plus that she wanted a proposal (after HTD with Chris ) and over (after FDs with Chris). In Antigua she told us and Brooks again and said throughout the process she wants to be with him and didn't want to give her heart to anyone else. There's no mystery here - its there for anyone watching. She was broken when he left. Her own brother is confirming now that she wanted Brooks and "settled" for Chris.

Des is happy with Chris today and im thrilled for her but to say he was F1 from the start is silly, IMO.

Fair enough, Chris maybe was or wasn't the one all along. But the confusing part for me is for all she said about Brooks being the one and she didn't want to go on dates with anyone else but him, etc. she didn't seem to act like that when she was on dates with Chris. She seemingly went out of her way to do extra things for Chris as well (poem/sketch/extra 1-1 time on group date, took him to her room, etc.) and there was a good connection between them on dates too, etc. I does seem like it was at least Brooks or Chris vs. nobody all along. She didn't seem to be seriously interested in anybody but Brooks or Chris.

That's the nature of the show...go back and watch Ben and Ashley during their LCD and tell me if you could believe watching those scenes she was madly in love with JP.

As for the Chris stuff, I think she wrote the poem out of appreciation for the two Chris had already written to her. The 1on1 time during dodgeball was orchestrated by Chris and TPTB not Des, the sketches I will give you (albeit the same thing Zak did for her). I think she definitely had feelings for Chris - in fact i believe that she was falling for him. But she was already in love with Brooks. However, now yes she seems to be love with Chris. Its easy to fall in love especially when its a great guy like Chris and he loves that much! Time will tell if they will be a successful couple but they seem to have a good shot!

If Chris was her F1 all along it is so odd that she was in love with and pining over Brooks, then. She makes no sense. Man, if I had been her Brooks would've gotten nothing but special treatment from me. To heck with being fair. I would've never let him slip away.

Her loss, gladly; the world's gain. I don't think she could "hang" with him, after all.

I think the love she had with Brooks was the "bach bubble love" or infatuation, but when he was gone, she realized that the "true" and fulfilling love that she wanted was with Chris. I understand that some see that she was in love with Brooks all along, but for some reason, I just didn't see it.

The show's own producers and spokesperson trash people for sport.  Brooks' process was an interesting story, but we as viewers really didn't get to see it.  Plus, Desiree and Chris H made Brooks out to be the one that didn't communicate when it was Desiree herself that didn't.  She was the one to want to make out and not talk.  He's always been a nice guy to me and I never got the trashing he got here just because he's from Utah.  The show should let the guys tell their side of the story, but they wait until it's too late and there's a reason why they don't.  I do believe the show planted false stories to re-inforce the 'Brooks comes back' storyline, because they thought it would bring in the ratings.  I'm glad it didn't pan out that way and got less viewers than last year's season.

I sincerely hope this is not what you really believe. I can not recall any poster trashing anyone because of the state anyone comes from--or country for that matter.  

I think you are right Kasha. I don't remember a time where a contestant on this show gets trashed on a board(namely here) because of the state he/she lives in.

I think you are right Kasha.  I don't remember a time where a contestant on this show gets trashed on a board(namely here) because of the state he/she lives in.

I can remember a recent post where people were saying no more Utah contestants after Bentley, Michelle Money, 1F and Brooks. There may have been others, but I don't recall exactly.
