That's the part that I can't get used to either. Now that all is said and done, I wish them well and happiness but I won't be following them as a couple, and that's ok, too, because they have so many that are. I am enjoying keeping up with and following Brooks.Judiful wrote:Thanks for sharing pictures...Brooks is so expressive..so photogenic and so beautiful !! Talk about being conflicted, I'm so glad to know he's free to fly, but by the same token...I really miss the adorable couple I grew to love this summer. I can't get used to her being with Chris. I wonder if she really likes that cheesy poetry ?? Yikes...that would be enough to make me run in the opposite direction..not into it !!

Brooks was initially head over heels, I think he was really impressed by her attributes but also thought she was wholesome. Their one-on-one date was so strong and he was excited and ready for the ride. I still really feel that he became increasingly discouraged as she developed chemistry and relationships with the other guys, wondering if all her dates were just like his. So he doubted - maybe their connection wasn't as strong after all.
He tweeted today: "Inspiration comes while on the move. #keepmoving". We know that during this show they are basically sequestered, so all that time spent sitting around thinking and trying to analyze and internalize did not his psyche. Bottom line is I think Brooks really fell for Des but began putting up walls as the season progressed, instead of deciding to fight for her. The only way this format would have worked for Brooks is if 1) Des had curtailed her outward affection with the other guys, 2) she had conveyed her feelings for him more openly throughout the process. TPTB discourage both so Bres was doomed from the start.

I think possibly you're right. Maybe. Maybe not. But I think these things you mentioned, and if Des was still single, would certainly have been an interesting experiment in what would've happened. Shoulda coulda woulda. Like Des said, everything happens for a reason. Brooks will probably find someone even more amazing (I hope).laurentx wrote:I wonder if Des got a post-mortem from her producer friends in the weeks after taping. I'm sure she was dying to know why Brooks had an abrupt change of heart, and was digging to find out what his mindset was during their travels and once he had his handler assigned. Obviously she was really caught off guard, having thought he was falling in love.

Exactly! And although he opened up about his father and how that affected him, apparently he did not share the painful circumstances surrounding his breakup. Maybe if he had Des would have been more sensitive to how the process might be more difficult for him than others...Adele1117 wrote:It just hit me why Brooks would be so against going with anyone who is even remotely disloyal to him or "cheating", including Des, and especially his girlfriend. It's because of what his father did. The last thing he wants is to end up with someone like him.
I don't get the impression that the other guys knew he was having a hard time, I think he internalized everything.

Rolly, keep posting it's like you are in my head and I think the same way you do.Rolly wrote:Adele1117, it's funny how people can look at the same episode and come away with such totally different views. I don't think the HTD for Brooks could have gone any better. He looked in love to me, his family loved her and she seemed to fit right in. His comments at the end of the date seemed to indicate that he was in a very good place with the relationship and was closer to the union of marriage than ever. I don't think he would have said those things unless he meant them.
The expectation at the end was a proposal and that's where I think he started to become conflicted and apprehensive. He knew what Des was looking for and saw that there were two other guys still in the picture. As much as we could see how she truly felt about Brooks, I don't think he knew it. I think there was genuine surprise from him when he saw the depth of her feelings at the end.
OK so maybe I'm . The ending left me with many questions that I will never have the answers to. What I wouldn't give have those questions answered.

I'm old enough to be his mother and I've never tweeted before so I'll just share it with my forum friends! I do follow him on twitter but I don't have a clue of what I'm doing.
Anybody else in a bit of a Monday slump? Is that all there is?
