I don't think you can form an unbreakable bond with someone after 3 dates and a couple of group dates. What she is sharing with Chris is on a whole different level, so I don't think she is regretting not ending up with Brooks. I think she was still a little sad at the FRC, but not now. JMHO and it took me awhile to get there. Maybe I will even change my avi. I like the pic of Chris laughing in the People spread. :Smiley: 

Hey Grace, nice write up, you may want to share with some of the Brooks fans that is if you are allowed to post in their fan thread. Maybe it wll allow them to get the closure some of them are seeking regarding all that took place :Smiley:

Thanks! I don't think they want to hear it. They have to work it out in their own way I think, even if we disagree and unfortunately there's not a middle ground discussion thread for people to come together on it.

Good thoughts, Grace! I had a long list of things that I wanted to see from Des going into finale and some I got (letting Drew go ASAP, seeing her smile w/her eyes again with Chris, her family instantly liking him) and some I didn't (Brooks coming back and Des rejecting him). What helped me accept the finale proposal were several things:

1) Believing all along that Chris/Des relationship was far stronger and more grounded on shared interests and family backgrounds. Chris & Des were always moving forward and never once did I see either one pull back whereas I saw Des pull back from Zak, Drew and James (the other guys who may have been in running).

2) Believing she did love Chris more all along as evidence by her actions ... writing poem, creating sketches ... her little squeal of joy in ep 4 when learned Chris wrote poetry, the tears in her eyes each time he read one, telling him in ep 7 that she wanted him to meet her parents, taking him to her bedroom in ep 6 and gushing about how he was good at everything ... she really admired Chris plus had that chemistry with him (rolling around kissing in waves during FD).

3) Des had been a crier from first episode to last. By end she had endured lack of sleep, crazy travel, lots of alcohol, producer manipulation, the "process" & emotional rollercoaster of doing the rejecting and being rejected. Plus she cried when Bryden left in Munich/ep 5 and said she just wanted to get back to her happy place with Chris. Well, she went right back there again after Brooks left and it was very quickly ... Brooks who?

3) Yes, we heard Des say she was in love with Brooks and falling in love with Chris. While producers gave us more on Brooks, she may have said just as much about Chris but they chose not to let us hear.  Good old cutting room floor strikes again!

4) Brooks never loved her. He started pulling back in ep 7/cloud nine date (and told the camera in ITM). He spent a good deal of HTD quizzing his family about how would he know. Well, you just do! It was all about the chase w/ Brooks and he just didn't want to be caught so it gave her an even greater urgency to catch him.  It was her "job," after all, to get multiple guys to fall in love with her. Plus, Des/Chris had great FD plus LCD and family date. Brooks had none of those crucial dates.

5) My own reaction ... crying throughout proposal. Yes, I am a sucker for this silly show but everything seemed so genuine & raw. I totally believed her when she said to Chris that she felt bad/guilty for letting herself get clouded by Brooks when it was always Chris ... cause it really was! Their relationship was the only love story and just re-watching their scenes/dates prove it. Even Des (and Chris H) said that she & Chris S spent lots of time together during group dates that TPTB chose not to show and he was always by her side. I keep thinking of that ship ride into Madeira with Chris being the only guy on one side and the one to hold her hand down the plank while Brooks & Co went ahead of them.

Finally, viewers want/expect a proposal. The Chris/Des proposal is just as valid/appropriate as any other for this show. My preference for ALL couples ... from Chres to JASH ... is to have them date in real world and then see proposal at ATFR. But, they did take a chance and Des & Chris are both glowing & sure seem happy/comfortable/in love.

And, I actually do love that they are focused on each other and moving to Seattle vs. milking their experience. I am looking forward to not reading much - if anything - about them in tabloids cuz I seriously doubt there is any dirt to expose unlike last season, which was H O R R I B L E for JEM fans.

And Des said He's making that up  now .
I think they like to tease each other in a fun way .

He's a standup guy. Complete respect. But desiree is a flat out fraud. No sane person can profess their love over and over for someone, state that she can't love anyone else as much, then turn around to accept a marriage proposal 4 days later from the very same person she said it wouldn't be fair to accept a proposal from since she could not love them fully.

She loves that rock with all of her heart however!

I don't have a problem being happy for the two of them, if that's your thing. I don't know them, so I don't have an opinion one way or the other.

I'm simply saying that based upon the evidence that is available, desiree is a liar and misled chris in order to get married and in order to own that blood diamond ring.
