I think she is a woman in love who will give him a second chance. I know when I broke up with my husband I gave him a second chance and things have been great ever since.

The press release doesn't say much which is no surprise.  But it doesn't even hint at a possible Brooks return, does it?

Also makes it sound as if her parents may not meet the guys.  I've been wondering about that as I don't see how they can fit everything into a 2 hour episode.

"He really wanted to be in love with Des, so much that he almost forced himself into doing something that he would have regretted later".

Remember that CH writes his blogs "in the moment," as if the events really did just happen last night, not months ago. He would only write what he knew at that point in time.

Do you think it's a possibility that he doesn't leave the island and the 'dates' they talk about are not really dates but meetings w/ her and the other guys to let them down?   She's all ready to leave alone and then Brooks comes along.....maybe they get to spend time together to see where it could go w/o Drew/Chris around.....hence the few days between.....

I just find it strange that if he really doesn't love her then why in the world did he get so emotional.....that to me is strange.

They clearly show Des and Chris have a wonderful time with stingrays. No matter how you look at that--it's a date. I'm sure she talks to both remaining Chris and Drew and tells them what happened with Brooks. You can see the discussion with Drew in the promos. Both Chris and Drew do have LCD's, however, as the promos show it.
Why did Brooks get emotional? Because breaking up with someone is difficult under any circumstances and with cameras rolling to show the whole world how you handle it, what you say and do, that makes it harder. The whole world will scrutinize your every move or lack of.
Because he got emotional does mean anything more than he was human--think how badly it would look if he had refused to meet her, or merely said what he said and walked away?? He says himself he cares about her, but there is a huge stretch between caring about someone and wanting to propose and marry them and his gut was telling him he was willing to do whatever he needed to in order to get out of the that final positioning. He had multiple opportunities to continue with the process. He chose to follow through and stick to his original guns. Too bad he didn't stick to them after the cameras rolled and he went back to his rooms under the care of his handler.

Do you think they convinced him to go back and propose?? (if that's what happened)

I am not trying to be disrespectful or snarky to you, so please do not take me personally.
Now on to your question:
I do not think whoever his handler water boarded him. They did not strap him down and stick bamboo shoots under his fingernails. He was not put into the deprivation room nor in that overly obnoxious fantasy suite that Drew and Des shared.
They are subtle. They empathized with him. I think they played on his vulnerabilities and I am not privy to what they might be. They emphasized it was always him. Pointed out what he passed up by breaking up with Des etc.
Brooks by his own repeated admission, says he has deep feelings for Des. But as much as he had feelings for her, he stuck with the more difficult route by addressing his feelings while hurting her and walking away. He was true to both of them when he walked away.
Once he walks away and is on his own with his handler and crew--it's like slow water torture emotionally if they want him to do something. Earlier cast called it the hamburger theory. It's hard to say: I really don't want that hamburger, I am more in the mood for a salad.

Kasha, I want to add my thoughts here too.  Brooks said that he had been in love before and knew what it felt like to be in love.  To me that was a key point.  So, it wasn't that he was confused his feelings for Des, because he knew what it felt like to be in love.  It was clear to me that Brooks knew that he wasn't in love Des.  To me, Brooks closed the door on returning by hoping that Des finds love with either Chris or Drew.

I so totally agree. Brooks made it very clear he is NOT in love with Des. No question about it. He had thought about it for several weeks. He talked to momma, he talked to sister, he talked to CH, and then he talked to Des. No way he could decide within a few days that he was completely wrong. IMO, of course.

ITA Beader. Brooks really left no wiggle room in that. He discounted CH's attempt to lead him to considering perhaps more time with Des would make it better, he discounted being "confused". The man knew his mind. I will be MORE disappointed if he shows up and they have a proposal. I think that would be totally disingenuous.

I thought CH's comment at the end of the interview...something like "next week will MAYBE be as riveting or more riveting than last week's episode" makes me think it's really not that riveting or dramatic. Brooks coming back would definitely be rivetting. Picking Chris or Drew would not be.

I'm not sure what I would do if I were Des. I keep agreeing with points on both sides. (Though I'm sure I wouldn't get engaged to anyone at this point IRL.)

I think Brooks was absolutely done when he went to Boise and when he went to Antigua. That is why he set this is motion and broke up with her. But when she told him that she loved him I think it clicked something in his head that will continue to ruminate. It didn't automatically change his mind. But after she said it he couldn't leave her. Now it was his worst breakup ever (see also: Molly and Jason). Now he is wandering around dropping the F bomb before getting in a limo.

Remember CH said none of the four will escape unscathed? And it was a dumpster fire? Well, for once, TPTB has told us the 100% truth. I just don't think the dumpster fire is over yet. I think that was just the beginning of it.

Poor Des. Been there, it sucks. But I bet she'll be a stronger, better woman for it on the other side, no matter how it turns out. Moments like this teach you a lot about yourself and where your lines in the sand are.
