Re: Episode 8 (HTD's) - 7/18 - Bachelorette 9 - Discussion - Spoilers
There's so much to say. I don't know if I'll get it all out.
Zak's date was cringe worthy to say the least. It was so evident Des had friend zoned him. Desiree played nicely and acted polite but it was so forced.
Chris's meet the family did not go how I thought it would. His sister's were cold and they seemed hung up on the last girlfriend. Chris's mom seemed like she was on some mood altering medication because I felt she didn't evoke any true emotion. And she damn sure didn't take a true liking to Desiree. I think she was just going along with it because Chris really likes Desiree. It pained me to hear the family speak about how hurt Chris was because of his last breakup. :pinkcry: If he isn't F1 it will be sad to see a repeat performance.
There's something so wet behind the ears about Drew. I don't like him and Desiree together. I feel like there's a woman out there way better suited for him. Maybe he'll find her on TB.
I was really looking forward to Brooks HTD and it didn't disappoint. Desiree is so smitten and it's adorable to watch. The Forester's are a cute clan. Nate's "Thanks for not being a total waste of time" and the mom's admission that Brooks was her favorite were fun moments. I think the Forester family (as much as Brooks) is what she needs. I have hopes that Desiree and Brooks will follow through with their relationship and that she will be absorbed by his family.
I wish we could just fast forward to the finale and ATFR. Who gives a hoot about the Men Tell All at this point?

I thought that episode was the least informative show ever! Sure, all four guys had wonderful families - they truly did. But in the end, except for the fact that she eliminated one of the guys who can admit that he loves her, not one moment of the storyline has progressed. Obviously there is nothing for the editors to do except waste time. We are still at a standstill. Drew and Chris are head over heels in love, while Desiree is so desperate for Brooks to love her that she has to remind him with a list of all their "moments"...but Brooks remains so non-committal that he cannot make any decision at all without asking his mama and the rest of his siblings. One would think that a mature man could make his decisions, even if his decision was merely that he was not interested enough to make a commitment.
What a complete waste of two hours! And you or I could have written Des' blog BEFORE we even saw the episode!! Perhaps next season the length should be shortened to six episodes. My guess is that each upcoming episode will lose voters like crazy. I trust that the ten or eleven people who watch the finale are not disappointed.

I think Mrs. Forester tells each one of her kids they are her favorite.

Let me start by saying I am a Brooks fan. I saw a lot in this episode change with where Brooks is at. Even though he is not as sure as Chris and Drew about Des in his emotional process I see him much more real and realistic to me. Do I wish he could have told her he loved her...yes...that would have been cool and romantic but I thought Des' response to that was great. She knows how he feels in ways other than words. I thinks he loves her but is afraid and apprehensive. Some people fall in love easily, for some it happens more slowly. The previews made me think something negative would happen with his family and I saw them as very loving, fun and supportive of Des. I was pleasantly surprised...I think Brooks' feelings have grown in this last episode.

I know. I can't believe she said that. But I think she sort of caught herself thinking, ah, cameras are rolling. Still, if I were her, Brooks would be MY favorite (so I wouldn't be surprised). In fact, I'd be protective mama bear who would probably drive off a lot of his girlfriends, so he's lucky he has someone like her.

A mom telling a child that they are her favorite is being playful...of course she tells each one they are her favorite. Brooks laughed and said "yeah".

I think you've got Brooks all wrong. He is trying to figure out how to know if he's in love. He obviously has enough feelings that he's wondering if it's love or not. So to say he is not interested in commitment is totally wrong. He's interested in knowing if she is the girl he should commit to. That was what all his talk with his family was about. And his mom believes completely that he's ready for marriage "when the right girl comes along" and that he'll make a great husband and father. His issue is not that he's not interested in making a commitment but that he's trying to figuring out what he's feeling for Des. He's trying to find out if she's THE ONE. That is all good. I just hope that he had enough time to truly figure that out.
I LOVED Brooks' HTD. I'm not all about finding out what's going on. I also like to get to know the contestants and the lead. I like Brooks not because he's my horse in this race, but because I really like Brooks and enjoyed getting to know him a little better through his HTD, seeing his family, his inner life, his place in the household, his relationship with his mother. Setting aside Des, which more and more I'm wishing he did, I enjoyed getting to know him a little more. I also love to see the dynamics between the lead and the families, and in turn, the contestants and the lead's family. That's my favorite thing about the show: the inter-dyamics of relationship.
Basically, I just wanted to drool over Brooks for a while longer. Gah. :eyesigh: :eyesigh: He sure is an outstanding person and has an outstanding family life.

Or he laughed because it was awkward.

I have seen a few parents that actually have a "true" favorite. All of my kids are my favorites. I do have a little spunky firecracker that tells the other kids she knows she is the favorite so they should just get over it. LOL

True Rolly. Look how happy Brooks was about the results of HTD. His family loved Des. He also mentioned something about getting closer to a union of marriage with Des. You don't contemplate marriage without loving that person. He also mentioned when walking to his home, Des and I are on the SAME PAGE about how we feel about each other. There is love involved but something screwy happens but love prevails.
