As for a black Bachelor and all black contestants, it is just not going to happen.......ever. JMHO.
They should. Why on earth not ? (not directing this at you but at tptb).
Ditto for a gay Bachelor/Bachelorette. Why not ? They kicked up such a fuss about JPs opinion. Granted he added some stuff which was wrong but they made it seem as though he said something soooo wrong. Basically they threw him to the wolves to fend for himself.
It would send out the message that they were really on board with a Gay Lead and all gay contestants. Put their money where their mouth is.

Re: The Bachelor 18 Spoilers/Speculation - Media - Discussion
I'd watch any person of color as the lead so long as they kept it classy. I have to say, the Bach/ette seasons that I stopped watching after a few episodes have been the ones where I felt that the lead was either boring (Prince Lorenzo); more interested in hooking up with lots of people on the show (Bob Guiney, Jake, Ben); or were just trying to get their 15 minutes of fame (Jesse Palmer, Matt Grant, Travis Stork). I've also never been interested in the cat fights. One of my favorite seasons was Ali's because the guys all got along well and many are still very good friends (Jesse Beck introduced Chris L to Peyton, my second favorite contestant to Tessa). I loved the outtakes they'd show at the end of each episode - especially the one where Chris Lambton and John were trying to catch the mouse).
I'm very interested in seeing how Andi's season plays out. Although I thought she kept beating a dead horse in telling JP what she thought of him, I see her as smart and articulate. I'll be interested in seeing if she's upfront with her guys. I think she can be blunt, but as she said to JP, it's wrong and insensitive to explain away your rudeness under the guise of being "honest". Being a lawyer, I'm sure she's much better skilled at the art of diplomacy and will parse her words accordingly. We'll have to see...

I agree with you here, but in order for there to be a non-white/gay lead, Foldemort (if you get my drift with that moniker) would have to become an enlightened, sensitive, compassionate, open-minded person who cares more about the human condition than he does about money, ratings and his ego. What are the chances of THAT happening?nd4reality wrote:Columbia, MD wrote:NeNeLeakes is a married woman, but you can watch her antics on DWTS this season.

I'm with you Nonnie - she would be great. But TPTB would never want a Bach or Bachelorette like NeNe! She doesn't need them to promote a business, pay off her college debts, mend her broken heart or get her into Hollywood. I won't say which previous Bach/ette leads fit those categories, but NeNe certainly doesn't. She's very successful, has a huge following, generates her own buzz and can choose whatever projects appeal to her. such as DWTS
I'd love to watch black Bachelor or Bachelorette with contestants of all ethnicities. You know, how many people date in the real world. We can dream...

I wasn't talking about NeNe being the bachette I was saying someone with her personality on the show would be great. A whole show full of NeNe's would be a barrel of laughs to watch. It might bring back the fun in this show.

I think you have to start with the talent pool of who actually applies to be on the show. I've seen video of the casting calls. The people who show up are not ethnically diverse. TPTB have noted the same, and I really do not think they are lying.
But good point about how Fleiss would edit himself into a lawsuit. I have to agree on that.
Just give me something that looks like a real love story to help me escape into my own version of fantasy for a while. And maybe against the odds one of those stories will actually survive real life. Nothing wrong with a little hope, right?

Oh yes - I understand & agree! Poor old CH would need a co-host to keep everyone in line. It would be great fun to watch and can you imagine the love match we'd get from such big personalities?

Isn't there already a show that has done a Black lead and Black contestants?

LOVE your post!Lievta wrote:I rarely post, but am an avid lurker here. I didn't watch any full episodes this season, but even though from what I saw JuanPa came across as a misogynistic boor with few social skills, part of me was applauding him on the ATFR. The MO of this show is simple (albeit borderline unethical): In order to get ratings (i.e. advertisers >> $$), the producers and CH have to CONTRIVE a story that will compel viewers to watch. Despite a plethora of fans saying that they want to see a love story, the contrivers edit the show they way they choose. Juan Pablo was the first unpopular lead in my recollection to accuse the production staff of sabotaging him and his image. I gave him props for outing Fleiss et al in his comment about how, despite the thousands of hours of positive footage they shot of him, they opted to show all the negative stuff in order to make him pay for not doing/saying what they wanted him to say. I know that's the way of this show - that the leads have to drink the Fleiss Kool-Aid - but there's just something inherently wrong in that. I mean, they courted him to be the Bachelor, marketed him as the first Latino Bachelor, then threw him under the bus after production ended.
As I watched the ATFR, I couldn't help wishing that some uber rich person would call Juan Pablo and say, "Hey, I think these people did you wrong. How about you tell the world everything they did to you and I'll bankroll all your legal costs when they sue you." Now THAT would be the "most dramatic ending" of all! :shocked!:

What l dont understand is that they CH & Co. can write articles go on shows and say whatever they want against JP without it being edited so why can JP not speak/write his mind you would think all parties would be under the same contract. Talk about JP being controlling l true think the shoe is on the other foot. IF l were JP l would give a time frame and say if my blog is not posted by a specific date that l will go ahead a post it myself. It seems to be a one sided story here CH & Co.
