Good for her.
While Juan Pablo definitely was shown doing things that made me personally feel he wasn't ready for a serious relationship, that is different from whether or not he is a jerk.
And, honestly, all the guys on Desire's season back then thought he was a nice and genuine guy. We should remember that.
It's really how he is with women that's more to the point. I'm sure he can be a nice, genuine guy but there were some red flags during the season on how he was with some of the bachelorettes. I really got a bad taste in my mouth at what he said when Clare left. She annoyed me all season but I'm inclined to give her a bit of a break in what she said because she was clearly shocked. He can be empathetic at times but somewhat dismissive when women aren't buying what he's selling.

If it were me in JP's shoes and someone brought my child into that conversation as Clare did, I would have been PO'd too, and I probably would have said the same thing.

I think the F2 has to be cut a lot of slack in what they blurt out immediately following their rejection. They are blindsided and expecting to be the F1. And Clare did not bring Camilla into the conversation. She said she would not want her children to have a father like him. I think that was Clare's way of saying that she didn't like the way the Juan Pablo had treated her by leading her on. Yes, the premise of the show is to lead the F2 on, but then they are going to be very hurt and may say some things back to you that you for just rejecting them that you do not like. Juan Pablo did not have to take it further by saying he was glad that he didn't pick her. He said something similar after Andi told him she was leaving, while she was walking away.

Chris Harrison Says Juan Pablo Confirmed and “Didn’t Deliver” ATFR Surprise
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
snipped from the article...
“He [recently] told a network executive, ‘Don't worry. After the final rose, I've got a big surprise for you,’" Chris says. “Then [on Monday], he texted somebody and, again, said he had a big surprise. And he didn't deliver it.” Chris adds snarkily that the denial was “in true Juan Pablo fashion.”
If this is true, then I think it is deplorable. IMO, Juan Pablo went to the ATFR show w/the intent to stick it to Chris Harrison and TPTB. I just think that Juan Pablo is coming across very badly in all of this. Yes, he got a bad edit, but I am sure part of the blame comes from him, too. Jason and Molly in one of their podcasts said that they didn't agree w/the way that Juan Pablo acted at the ATFR show. They said he came out w/an attitude and that it reflected poorly on him. Jason and Molly should know because they were in a very similar position during their season where they weren't treated very well by TPTB and were not very well liked in the public eye. I just don't think Juan Pablo has the foresight to see that he has burned all his bridges w/ABC and that may potentially come back to bite him in the future. He just wanted the temporary satisfaction of sticking it to them now w/out realizing the future implications. Hope it was worth it to him.
This next article really sums up my feelings on the ATFR show.

Re: The Bachelor 18 Spoilers/Speculation - Media - Discussion
If CH and Co. are sincere in wanting "the best" for their lead, I guess the take-away lesson would be to make sure that possible leads have watched numerous seasons and talked with past contestants before they let them sign a contract.
If tptb actually signed jp with the intent to create a season of "the worst bachelor ever" for the sake of drama and ratings, then I wonder if they are actually satisfied with their creation. Will it come back and bite them on the arse when they try to sign decent people in the future?

IMO there were a few things that CH (and obviously mostly the controlling producers  ) could have done to make the ATFR a little less uncomfortable despite a reluctant lead. For sure.
Things like opening up the floor to a few more balanced previous cast members, showing a montage of the journey of the couple on the show and backing down just a tiny bit when both JP and Nikki said they were happy - would have made the ATFR a little less contentious.
They didn't bother and if it comes back to bite them in the arse for future seasons then they will have to deal with it.
I don't think it will because a season like this with a lead like this is only going to drive fresh interest in the series. These controversial seasons (Jason Brad) have been proven to.
My husband is convinced that the whole thing has been a setup from day 1. Building on his assumption I think that someone somewhere decided something along the lines of "lets go the opposite direction from our perfect blond poster boy of a previous bachelor and give the viewers the total opposite in this season". Planned from day 1.
I wouldn't put it past them. We don't call them The Powers That Be for nothing .

I think they wanted the show to be uncomfortable and that is why I think CH pushed them so much. We are still talking about this, interviews are still being written and that is exactly what they like.

I rarely post, but am an avid lurker here. I didn't watch any full episodes this season, but even though from what I saw JuanPa came across as a misogynistic boor with few social skills, part of me was applauding him on the ATFR. The MO of this show is simple (albeit borderline unethical): In order to get ratings (i.e. advertisers >> $$), the producers and CH have to CONTRIVE a story that will compel viewers to watch. Despite a plethora of fans saying that they want to see a love story, the contrivers edit the show they way they choose. Juan Pablo was the first unpopular lead in my recollection to accuse the production staff of sabotaging him and his image. I gave him props for outing Fleiss et al in his comment about how, despite the thousands of hours of positive footage they shot of him, they opted to show all the negative stuff in order to make him pay for not doing/saying what they wanted him to say. I know that's the way of this show - that the leads have to drink the Fleiss Kool-Aid - but there's just something inherently wrong in that. I mean, they courted him to be the Bachelor, marketed him as the first Latino Bachelor, then threw him under the bus after production ended.
As I watched the ATFR, I couldn't help wishing that some uber rich person would call Juan Pablo and say, "Hey, I think these people did you wrong. How about you tell the world everything they did to you and I'll bankroll all your legal costs when they sue you." Now THAT would be the "most dramatic ending" of all! :shocked!:

For a moment each seemed unreal to the other — then the slow warm hum of love began.

Me too. I think that may be part of why they don't get a black bachelor is because they are scared of racial discrimination suits. You know Fleiss' twisted mind would do something really stupid. I have said it before I would love to see a black man and all black contestants. They know how to have fun and can you imagine the cat fights. NeNe from housewives of Atlanta comes to mind. I love her. She is all that and a bag of chips.

NeNeLeakes is a married woman, but you can watch her antics on DWTS this season.
As for a black Bachelor and all black contestants, it is just not going to happen.......ever. JMHO.
