I also agree. I strongly disagree personally with what JP has said but it sounds like he said something that he regrets, was poorly worded and has apologized. I want to give him the benefit of the doubt. Sometimes saying something stupid can be a learning experience and can generate discussion that moves everyone in the direction of greater tolerance/acceptance of each other. I would guess that JP's expression of his views has given him a great deal of feedback about how offensive his position is to many.

If I were to eliminate every person in my life that had a different position on social and economic issues I would have a very small circle. Sometimes too being challenged about my position on issues can solidify my views or can open my mind to the other persons view. I hope the feedback JP has received has opened him up to a greater acceptance of others. We shall see....I think the discussion is healthy.

Having someone else help JP with his response was expected. I doubt very few people write their own stuff without TPTB edit.

I'm so surprised there wasn't a producer or handler within arm's reach to prevent these situations. I am giving him the benefit of the doubt for now; I don't get the impression that he is a hateful person of any group. Am I a bigot if I had no desire to watch a Gay Bachelor too? I wouldn't watch, because I would have no interest, just like I have no interest in a show like Toddlers and Tiaras or Duck Dynasty or Breaking Bad. They just doesn't appeal to me, nothing more.

This really isn't about him not wanting to watch a gay Bachelor....

Mustang...Peter, one of the main producers was with him at the event and there are even pictures of him standing near by during the evening. I really don't get what happened...he was there to keep an eye on things. Maybe he was in the bathroom?

I guess. While we generally agree they edit people badly sometimes to "punish" them for not going along with the plan, or being a pain in the a** to work with, or simply just for the sake of the storyline, I do think this is different. While there is the adage that there is no such thing as bad publicity, I personally think this was just your regular, run of the mill, screw up. Take a guy who doesn't seem to be the brightest, whose English is not the best, who has now gotten a taste for people fawning all over him and who has ambition to be a star...well...this is what you get. Not particularly surprised. Oh well, welcome back to the real world JPab!

Kelly...the lady with the dog...posted somewhere that one of her parents is gay. ABC and the production company have already distanced themselves and generally threw him under that bus. I am curious to see how much he will be featured during the upcoming wedding? Sean seems to have been one of their best Bachelors and has continued to have a lot of support post show since he actually managed to have a successful relationship...and not exactly a ton of scandal. It would be a shame if their big day was overshadowed/tainted by this...Not that I think Sean and Cat care...they just want to get hitched and head to that consummation station!!!

This could very well be the case. Not sure if ABC would have wanted this kind of controversary, but it's what they got. Maybe him saying if he had to do it over, he wouldn't have done the show ticked them off - who knows. I'm just a little surprised he wasn't coached before about what to say or not to say in interviews - but then again, maybe he was and didn't care or they set him up. Who knows what the motivations are with this show, and how thoughtless some people can be. Still, he should have known better.

My speculative take:
Once filming got under way or contracts signed for filming, it became apparent JP was not going to play ball like Des or Yawn. The ending is not their regular fairy tale and JP states right out loud the bolded above(paraphrased). I'm sure there are more instances not apparent at this time, that did not endure him to the process/the machine.
So what better way than let JP throw himself to the dogs or crap all over himself? This keeps TPTB hands somewhat clean.

I think the conspiracy thing is a little OTT. They can't guarantee what will happen...but, editing, that is where they get back at them.

I have been avoiding the spoiled threads, but this one has become such a juggernaut today that I got too curious.

Gee, Sprite. I hope you can forgive Kashathediva for calling your man "yawn". In all fairness, had Tierra not been the Glitter Queen, his season would be a "yawn" simply because he was a little too goody-goody vanilla. (*chuckle chuckle*)

Just speculation on my part, but the handlers are usually pretty on target for helping out the mains and if it was a blunder on the handler's part I don't get it.
This situation seemed to get worse with each sentence that continued to come out of JP's mouth. It so could have been nipped in the bud before it ever got so out of hand by the handler.
Maybe the handler was coming down with Flu.
