If it were just the issue of the word "pervert", I MIGHT (and I emphasize MIGHT) buy the language problem. But it's pretty hard to take what he said "out of context" when he made several bigoted statements as he spoke.

I think it's pretty clear but that's JMO.

I think I'm with Sophie in that I'll give him the benefit of doubt. I actually agree with at least part of what he said. I don't think a gay bachelor would be received well on ABC. It's one thing to have gay characters or couples on network tv but that's probably a bit too in your face for the average viewer.

Having said that it boggles my mind that they let him get in this mess. A handler should have cut off that question right away and they definitely should have coached him much better.

Unless TPTB wanted him to make a mess of himself for whatever reason---shoot himself in the foot--retribution as a gift from TPTB. That would be my take on it.
Nothing surprises me with this show, short of JP answering that he realized through this process he was actually gay. That probably would not surprise me either and leave me feeling glad JP got something valuable regarding himself out of the "journey".

English is my second language too and while I believe that I speak it excellently, there are times when I still struggle to find the right words to get my message across.
JP spoke out of turn, this doesn't make him a bad, evil person, neither does anyone stating their displeasure about what he said, makes them a bad person. He has apologized, whether he wrote it himself or not is immaterial, and I accept his apology.

I choose grace and mercy over judgement and condemnation.

I came out of lurkdom to say we should cut Juan Pablo a break. He only said what everone thinks but wisely know how to keep it to themselves or simply obfuscate the issue. How many of us have said things privately to our spouses,significant others or close friends that we know we would be pilloried if it was disclosed in a public forum. Juan Pablo having been through the fire will never make this mistake again. As for us the viewing public. .... I say let him without sin cast the first stone!

-I feel for these people, they do so many interviews and I for one don't think well on my feet sometimes and I say things and think later.....why did I say that?
-I don't think JP is a bad person and I don't think he hates gay people. I think he just started talking and one thing led to another and I'm sure he is kicking himself right now.
-I'm going to accept his apology and let those close to him (family and friends) deal with the issue because let's face it, it doesn't matter to me what he thinks but will matter to his family and friends........especially if he is being truthful about one of his best friends for the last 5 months being gay.
-To be honest, I have a gay brother-in-law but I do not want to watch The Gay Bachelor. I don't hate gay people. I don't disagree with their lifestyle. I just don't want to watch a whole show of guys making out.
-My 26 year old daughter said she would love to watch The Gay Bachelor but would not want to watch The Lesbian Bachelorette.
 

Aaaand another historical first for The Bachelor...the franchise's first homophobic star!!! Yaaay  :vomit: 

We don't believe you Juan Pablo. I don't care if you spoke Swahili with a lisp, we know what you meant. The fact that he went on and on about it speaks volumes. This LAME statement (and the "I'm not homophobic, I have a gay friend" spinning) was just the nail in the coffin. Enjoy your notoriety Grossy.
