I actually enjoy it more watching the lead being so smitten with a contestant. For example, Sean with Catherine and his desire to not be in the friend zone or Brad's unapologetic falling for Emily. Part of the appeal of Desiree and Brooks relationship is how smitten she seems to be. There were so many moments during the fireworks portion of their date where Desiree is leaning into him like, "please kiss me" and "hold me tight and never let go".
Wasn't the old rule of thumb "don't watch who is chasing the lead, watch who the lead is chasing"?

Maybe this show is just too fast for him or his family reminded him about reality outside the bachelor bubble but I'm very nervous for Des. I don't like that she's all in at this point. She's given up the control the lead usually has and I have to wonder if she's thinking about practical matters such as his religion.
I'm also feeling bad for the other guys because they don't have a chance unless she gets cold feet about Brooks on his HTD. Luckily the recovery time seems fast after the show for most.
I wonder if many past leads have had conversations like that with CH but we've just never been shown it before? they didn't want to give away the ending so soon so we get the "I'm falling for them all" edit, but this season something seems to throw their relationship for a loop, so we're "allowed" to see her say that she's fallen in love with Brooks because there isn't gong to be a straight path to the FRC??
The show is for sure into mind games with the edit.
Anything I post means it's Just My Opinion. Don't feel like posting it every time I post. So, I thought I'd get that out of the way.

It's very possible that others have said that before. I know Meredith was all about Ian from early on in her season. I do think we were only shown what Des said because Brooks probably leaves & returns. I don't need the guys to profess love at this point (or really ever for some of them) but would like to feel that Brooks has fallen for Des.
Yes - there is a reason that they are showing us so much of this stuff at this point. That itself it a first in the editing. They are setting Des up for some huge fall in the very near future.
I'm not sure whether that is going to come from Brooks alone with the gentle guidance from his mother or a perhaps a bit of Nate or really a combination.
But something huge is coming up which IMO will be the change that Des was alluding to in her interviews.
Somehow I don't think its a temporary bump either. Otherwise they would not have this sort of setup.
I am getting a feeling of Ashley with Bentley all over again. They edited Ash to show that she was crazy head over heels for Bentley within 2 episodes and then when he left they made it out to seem that her season was essentially done. That was what they edited. The truth was in part correct and mostly completely wrong.
They seem to be doing exactly the same thing with Des. I really feel for her right now. You could see the change in her face when CH brought up the relucatance from Brooks. It sorta set her mind moving and then she ended it with a resolute - this is not the end for me (or something).

Did you all notice last night that Brooks said "I would be nervous introducing my family to her, especially if we are not on the same page."
Remember how they used the bolded part in the preview. That's a perfect example of how they use splice and dice to totally fool people.

Yes, I noticed. They did that a lot.

I noticed it for sure. When shown in context, it had an entirely different meaning.nutty1 wrote:Did you all notice last night that Brooks said "I would be nervous introducing my family to her, especially if we are not on the same page."

Whatever Des and Brooks go through before the end, they have been spoiled as being engaged. I am very much looking forward to how we get from point A, which is from last night's show, to point B, the engagement. No matter the editing, I still believe the spoiled F1 info provided to us from seemingly four different sources.

I'm wondering if her brother has something to do with Brooks leaving. Maybe he tells the guys that if they're not 100% sure that they can propose then to walk away now so they don't break Des's heart. Maybe Brooks thinks that one of the other guys can give Des that, so he walks away, only to change his mind later about being ready to propose. We've heard a few of the other guys mention the attraction that they see Des has for Brooks, so it's something that's fairly obvious to all those around them... could this possibly what prompts all these, IMO, too early declarations of love from the rest of them? is it their attempt to win Des, to go all in so to speak to try to get Des to like them more than Brooks, as they may feel that he's holding back?
I'm kinda middle of the road when it comes to producer manipulation and "scripting" .... I don't believe that tptb sit down and tell the guys or the lead "ok, now you say this, and then the lead will do that, and then you're going to leave for a week, and then blah blah blah" I think it's more a case of tptb know what's going on behind the scenes and they know who feels what and who said what to who.... and then they manipulate with questions and chat sessions and put ideas in their heads... very puppet-master like and they play them all like a violin to get the desired results.... all the while letting natural chemistry run it's course. ie - they knew from the getgo that Des only had eyes for Brooks and they also knew that Brooks had doubts about the whole process.... so they manipulated events to get them some good tv... while the end game was always going to be that Des would choose Brooks at the FRC. In their twisted minds, no harm no foul, as long as the lead get's her man.

I sure hope we don't see a lot of Nate because, even though he may not be this way IRL, he's smarmy to me. Des seems to want to keep him in check with regard to his stating his opinion before she makes her decision about the F3. Will he be able to abide by her request? That is the question.northernviewer wrote:I'm wondering if her brother has something to do with Brooks leaving. The CH interview also makes sure to tell us that the lead girl is so much into this guy who's not quite there yet in terms
of expressing his feelings etc. Isnt this Des' MO when it comes to guys, that she's always finding someone who is not expressive
and not into her as much as she's into him.
So where is the fairy tale in all of this, if she is just repeating her pattern? If Brooks came back and realized the error of his ways, its not the kind of
fairy tale that the viewers are looking for.
This is the Bachelorette, the man should be working hard to win the girl not the other way around.
I love this post. Thank you. This is a nightmare of a season. Whether they kiss and make up I don't care. The damage has already been done as far as I am concerned with his reluctance to say he loves her.
Run Des, run!
Summed up nicely.

I'm thinking Nate doesn't get a chance to talk to the guys or we'd have seen a clip.
The guys may see that Des has a connection with Brooks but they probably all believe they also have a connection. We see the difference in dates but they don't (until now). I think it's possible the guys are more easily manipulated because they probably don't follow the show all that closely or heard what happens behind the scenes.
