Hard to know, of course. But the producers get things to play however they want them to, and stoic isn't very good TV.

And I'm not saying that because I'm a Brook's fan; I'm actually having a difficult time getting into him. I can tell there is chemistry between him and Des, but he is so not my type ...

U make a good point dw_a_mom. The producers may have kept prodding for descriptors. What I want to know is why was he holding that finger up w his other hand? Was it the drugs? Did they tell him to keep it elevated? It just made it so much more obvious walking into the cocktail party, I kept thinking "put your hand down b/f you walk in." giggling

I would imagine that if you're holding your finger downward, letting it rest by your side, blood rushes down and it would throb/hurt. Elevating it might very well have lessened pain. Just a thought.

Yeah, I had that thought too (about the elevation), but just didn't understand why his other hand was holding it. He prob just got tired holding it up. Its funny, in real life, I wouldn't think anything about it, but seeing it on the screen just looked funny to me.

Geez don't Doctor's tell you to keep your hand elevated where there's an injury? Hand above your heart? He had an open fracture with displacement people! Give the man a break!

Maybe it would start throbbing if he lowered it. That was my explanation.

It did look funny! I was hoping he'd at least stop holding it with his other hand walking in to the cocktail party as well.

From OHCH's ew blog: Well, something had to give — and that something was Brooks’ finger. There was no doubt when I saw Brooks’ face that he was really hurt. Any doubts I may have had were erased once I looked at his finger and saw where his knuckle used to be.
