OK. Grace please allow me to explain the difference of a business decision and a personal decision.

Even if the producers are similar to Cat and liked Cat as a person, there is this success gauge called RATINGS. And not everyone thinks like CA or NY or the Northwest. Most of USOFA is very conservative and would still be wary of interracial dating.

As a business person/producer, your biggest fear is that there will be an uproar amongst Middle America that your male lead chose the unexpected partner. Your network may panic and decide to close the franchise altogether.


SO do you think the producers will try to protect their pockets first and foremost? Hell YA!

Maybe, but at the same time, it did take some heat off them for not having enough ethnic people on the show, so in that regard she was a dream come true for them. For her to win, checks that box for them. But, what I was really questioning was you saying that they disliked her and told Mama something. That is the part I wasn't getting, though I could see CH doing that, just not the others. No biggie. Enjoy your day.

I disagree a little bit about most middle america and conservative people being closed minded of interracial dating. I am non white, very conservative and married to a white male. In my experience, conservatives are the most open minded especially if they're Christians because the God of the Bible says that we are all created by God.

I agree. I'm in Texas, white, conservative and didn't give it a thought. I think the people that would have a problem with this are in a very small minority.

I am painstakingly watching little bits of Emily's episodes, as I can only take vignettes of nonsense! Sean is pretty nonsensical too from what I've seen. I am glad Sean grew a brain.

Back to Emily I shall now call Emily chicklets as those veneers look like then chicklets!

It'll be interesting to hear what you think of Jef with one F although your views be may be biased given what we know of the outcome of that relationship. He did seem cool during the show. Noticed all the guys in the house wore hooded sweatshirts now after Jef did.

Jef looks so tiny and young. But I'll get over that first impression. Our runner here told me I should hasten to the hometown date where Jef's family obviously had $$$. Runner says Sean lost because Jef had a richer family. LOL

Correct. Jef didn't grow on me until after HTD when he seemed to "mature" more and showed more depth. Having family money didn't hurt Jef.

At the end, Jef seemed perfect for Emily b/c of his "edge", wealth and cuteness but she threw all that away. She didn't need the money, though, because her family is also wealthy.

And I've been annoyed with Chris Harrison from day one that is why I could never watch a complete season of TB till this year. If the network wanted bigger ratings, they would change the host. He's too familiar the audience is jaded.

This season I only followed the progression because I wanted to know if I was right about my hunch. I haven't watched the entirety of all the episodes from the very start, because frankly the girls and their fake cry cries were simply bad acting. Lindsey isn't even really from MO, she was living in Orange County CA for a couple of years before auditioning in TB.

So this probably explains the late one on one date between them. They kept hoping he would send her home. When he kept giving her roses each week they finally had to give her a one on one!

This makes sense. Also, not sure where I read this interview but CH made a comment once that Catherine "takes adjusting to" or something to that effect meaning it takes time for her to grow on you. This is surprising given that she made a lot of life-long friends in the house and I thought given how low-maintenance she is that production would find her easy to get along with too.

Overall, Catherine played it really smart and what sealed her fate were the love notes that she gave Sean throughout the show even from week 1. This meant that she was in constant contact with him even when they weren't together on dates and she was always on his mind. It also showed him her intelligence and humor in a subtle way that built up over time. She slipped through the evil production's grasps and planted the seed with Sean without their knowing. Even Shay was shocked!

I agree.I wonder how she sent the notes though. If she sent through her handler then that handler must have been chastised.
You see I believe the producers let some girls push through-- like Tierra and COurtney and hijack or interrupt a date. But mostly these girls get handlers accompanying them even for the most mundane task of going to CVS. So they cannot use the phone, look at internet, use email. Everything was controlled. Cat must have read the rules and figured she could communicate with him without a producer blocking her. So I believe her handler helped her out and maybe is SOOL now. LOL

I believe the notes were passed to each other in passing. For example, Sean slipped a note into her bag her when they passed each other in the airport on way to St. Croix. He crossed out destination "St Croix" and wrote "Snugglesville". He had to get it back, though, because it was his boarding card.

I think that there is a huge misconception in this country regarding conservatism. And I believe it's because of the media.

I agree completely, Pia! I don't think, at this day in age, people are as closed minded as some would assume. I see many interracial couples - and studies have show that in a few years, there will be a higher percentage of multicultural children than not. And to be honest, it's a bit tiresome having to dissect Sean and Cat's ethnicity all the time! That is probably far from their minds, and I highly doubt there was some sort of conspiracy about it like some are suggesting. In fact, I agree with you again, that the producers were delighted by the fact that Sean chose a person of color - makes the franchise look better!

btw mum doesn't like seeing a big blond blue eyed handsome boy with a thick neck cry. (it is just NOT written in the movies that way.)

if i could go back in time, and it was a storybook, i would travel to curacao(despite its' currency devaluation and historic inflation), and i would bake sean some brownies with walnuts and salt sprinkling on top. and hand him a glass of almond milk (no sweetener).

when i rub his gold hair to pat his big head, i would whisper"sean, over the blue yonder (west) the city where they invented starbucks and throw big fish at passersby..... there lies your princess."

and when he asks me how to get there. i say chris harrison will lead you to her, and then try to muddle it up for you. he is both a friend and a foe to your princess. follow the brownie crumbs....
