Kind of but not the whole barometer for the authenticity of a relationship. Look at JP, apparently Ashley's sis did not like him at first but look where they are now. A lot have been said of the Shay/Cat issue. I myself have said enough. Time to step back and let the whole thing play out as it should or however it is meant to be. At the end of the day what we know or apparently know are things we read from the media and from those in the know with direct or indirect contact with all the people involved. We don't live with these people much less have comversations with them so I will take everything with a grain of salt. I would love for Sean and Catherine to have their happy ending if that it is really what is in the cards for them. Analyzing things is such a headache specially if the answers can only be found from them, if and when they deem it wise for us to let us know every single thing they do or don't(which is very unlikely)That said, we can only wish good things for them and support them. At the end of the day really, it is their life and we have ours. At some point we all do need reality check on how far we can involve ourselves in their life. Obsession is unhealthy and so does fanatism. There is indeed a fine line between being a fan and a fanatic and I would prefer to be the former.

I'd hope for my family's blessing and approval in a mate and will pay attention to their feedback but sometimes you just know and see things differently from your family.

Not only as would I but that's exactly what I did. I'm married 31 years to someone my parents didn't exactly approve of but it was the right decision for me and it's been the happiest 31 years of my life.

I find Shay's silence strange but don't necessarily think it means she dislikes Catherine.

We're all trying to guess what Shay may feel but sometimes knowing when she started feeling that way is a bigger clue than we might imagine.

On Feb 11 the St. Croix episode aired (where Shay appeared) and on Feb 12 Shay did a radio interview with Kidd Kraddick and was asked if she saw anyone leading the pack, and she said that she saw a lot of chemistry between Sean and one of the girls. KK then asked her if this was chemistry or something that would last and she answered "Both". So at that point in time I think Shay felt positive about Sean's pick and the future possibilities of it.

So in my mind whatever may have happened that is responsible for Shay's current silence about Catherine is something that happened AFTER Feb 12 rather than before it as if before she wouldn't have been positive in that interview.

People say that (and there are proofs of this) that the reaction of Ashley's sister was purely production driven. They needed another arc/obstacle in the story for the leads to get through before finally having the happy ending. After filming Ashley's sister was totally on board with the relationship. Which is the opposite in the case of Shay.

People can't stop talking about it because its like a tip of the iceberg. There's something more to it. But its not like it will prevent them from marrying.

poohbear it shouldn't be a big deal. In 2008 in a blog titled "We love our Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader" Shay posted:

Note to my brother Sean Lowe...if you don't marry this girl, we are going to kill you. She is WONDERFUL!

Of course Sean didn't see Brooke as his wife. Shay also thought Emily Maynard was great for Sean, but Emily dumped Sean.

Shay's ability to pick partners for Sean is pretty dismal; with this kind of track record, I think if I were Sean I'd listen to what Shay had to say and then do exactly the opposite. Maybe that's exactly what he did.

I've said it before and I will say it again ...... Lucas, will you accept this ?

You have a way of saying what I honestly believe, but in a more kind and gentle way than I ever could. If I said what I truly think of Shay, I would be banned from this board and I don't want to be. I love it here.

I love it here too, although we sometimes have a different opinion, I can tell people who post have so much respect for one another. Hope we continue doing that As for Shay, I don't worry about that. They have lots of time to be friends when Catherine will be officially a member of Lowe Family. I am sure Catherine will WIN her love and support as she win all of us. There is something about Catherine that you can't help but adore her...like me

Catherine is very charismatic and I can't recall her ever saying something mean or nasty to anyone. She certainly won Jay over when she first met him and it's hard for me to believe that someone would not like her.

November 17 was when Sean got engaged with Catherine. November 20, Shay tweeted something about Emily creating a good impression and her son wants Uncle Sean to marry Emily.

The other interviews she did with Kid Kraddick, she didn't specify who had this chemistry with her brother. Which leads me to think she was thinking about Lindsay.
The only thing she said was that she was SURPRISED of the result (vague enough but certainly not a ringing endorsement)

Then I read about a member of this site (Lori) who is a friend of Shay's not saying anything specific but this is what she said

Funny, I didn't hear that at all. Not to discount any current relationship, as this was almost five months ago now, but AT THAT TIME, he truly was undecided until the point when we heard/saw him say otherwise.

I am flabbergasted by the term she used 'current relationship'. Like the other poster who reacted to it, it speaks volumes. She was here the whole time and she is a friend of Shay's she could have clarified that Shay may be quiet but is actually okay with Catherine. However that was not what the post is about its about making sure that we know that Sean was indeed confused and not really sure who to pick.


I am shocked by how much Catherine seemed to be disliked by the sister. This is bordering on being cruel. I guess Catherine didn't create a good impression on Shay, during the hometown date and it didn't help that Sean was confused at that time. I am not a Catherine fan, but a Des fan but this is far from an ideal situation. Nate looks harmless as a prospective in law compared to this kind of treatment. Imagine tweeting the name of Emily and telling everyone her son wants Uncle to marry Emily just three days after her brother proposed to Catherine.

My aunt wrote on Facebook that my 11 and 7 year old cousins still insist I marry my first boyfriend. They met him 5 years ago. Sometimes kids say things and adults post them. I took Shay's tweet as proof her kids don't really understand the show and still think Emily is best because they met her first and kids do hang onto first impressions quite often. Also, at the time of this tweet it wasn't known which two were the final two so Shay couldn't post anything that would hint in a certain direction.
