Well, I do have it on pretty good account that he is deliberately not mingling (could mean that he is still hung up over Des, is the secret F1 or perhaps has other option coming up in the near future...;) I just don't think that after this seasons horrendous ratings they would go with smb who is pretty much edited to be Des 2.0...

I can totally see him being the secret F1 if there is one this season (spoilers notwithstanding).

I (used) to have this theory that the F1 always gets face time with the lead either on screen or in deleted scenes. Well guess what ? Zac is the only one that has consistantly got that. Right from episode 1.

AND she has consistantly made a small mention of him in her blogs. Double whammy.

And CH has been "trying" to liken this season to Seans season with Des' keeping her options open etc and alluding to a late start. That could be a complete fake out (with the spoilers very likely) or a huge clue that a late starter gets the girl in the end. For that matter that could mean either Zac or Drew or even Chris lol.

The unspoiled folks think that the F1 could follow the pattern of the previous seasons with a late 1on1 date. Heck Cat got her 1st 1on1 in teh same epi that des got her second ! That certainly fooled me (I was unspoiled and sure that Des was it with her second 1on1 prior to HTs - we know how that worked out).
(I should go type up reasons why Drew or Chris could be the hidden weapon this season if the spoilers turn out to be quite wrong which I somehow doubt lol).

So yeah - he, Zac could be the secret weapon.


I'm not sure what the reaction of america would be to him being the next lead though. Unfortunately his nakedness in his intro vid and the no shirt on night one were a bit much.
But as far as them getting a talented and more importantly educated guy - he is it. They haven't yet had an engineer have they ?

I don't go along with any theory of secretive F1 at all, especially since production staff have said it's been all Brooks from the start, and we have 4 who have reliable and different sources that confirm Brooks as F1. Plus the fact that all of the guys who've spoken to the media post-show have also mentioned the connection to Brooks, etc. Are we to believe it's all a cover up to have a surprise out of left field ending of Zak, the secret F1?

I don't go along with any theory of secretive F1 at all, especially since production staff have said it's been all Brooks from the start, and we have 4 who have reliable and different sources that confirm Brooks as F1.  Plus the fact that all of the guys who've spoken to the media post-show have also mentioned the connection to Brooks, etc.  Are we to believe it's all a cover up to have a surprise out of left field ending of Zak, the secret F1?  

While I believe our boardies on the ending - we have RS who could just be "copying" them knowing that their sources panned out correctly in recent seasons.
The eliminated contestants are just following the spoilers. This has happened every season since RS has started spoiling correctly. I don't put stock in that.

And yes it is totally within reason that the biggest fakeout has been created ever.

Besides this is all harmless speculation and if folks don't speculate then why bother coming to the boards ? Just to to Bres ? Not everyone is going to be a fangirl of the couple. Then all you have is fangirls on this board and if it comes to that - many more will be out. Like the previous b'ette season.

Sophie, you make a good point.  The only thing that I could add is that if they want the next Bachelor to have an "edge", then Zak is the only one there who does seem to possess that "quality" - per his edit.  I agree that they have not shown Zak in the middle of the drama, whereas Drew is already being shown to be a part of at least the drama next week with James.

What is interesting about Zak's edit is that he appears to be a man of mystery too, since they continue to reveal many different sides of him....like him having considered entering the priesthood in his youth.  I like Zak, but I don't know how the hardcore Bachelor fans would react to TB picking him as their next lead.  Will people tune in, since he is not considered that physically handsome by many here on this board?  And some here have expressed that they were turned off with his video introduction and his shirtless entrance out of the limo.

And, I am also afraid that the producers would pick a bunch of bimbos for him (to create lots of drama) because that is what they think the audience wants.  So, if I were Zak's friends or family, I would tell him to just say NO if they offer it to him.  If Des is the kind of girl that Zak is looking for, then I highly doubt that tptb will be bringing the "girl next door" type onto the show, because they are already saying the "nice" is not what the audience wants.

This show and this board would be very boring if we didn't come up with alternative theories. I, for one, wouldn't even bother watching the show. Yes, it's probably Brooks in the end, but the theories are much more fun.

As for Zak (if he isn't F1 ), TPTB can't have Zak until he meets my cute, almost PhD niece who also lives in Texas, and they have a chance to see if they click. If that doesn't work out, then bring on Zak!

I find Zak very interesting! He could def carry the show as the next Bachelor. He reminds me of Andrew Firestone in a way...very well-spoken, down-to-earth, and uber-intellectual. I'm digging him.

The more I see of Zak the more I like him also. I think he could have a personality that is needed to actually make the lead interesting.

I would watch a Zak season. Even with the 'nakedness', he seems to have a certain charisma that would translate well. Same way I wished Arie would've been bachelor over Sean, he didn't have Sean' bod but he had that watchable factor. But I like more serious, intellectual guys anyway....

I'm so happy to read all the Zak love! He seems to be a risk taker with a kind heart. The perfect combination for the next lead. Zak for Bachelor, I say! [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Zak is growing on me slowly but surely. I started out dismissing him as "naked boy" from the Texas bayou ideal for BachPad but now the more that I get to know him, the more that I like him.

I will hold judgment as to whether I think he is Bachelor material until next week (and until he trims down that faux hawk). Two parting thoughts:

1. I would much rather have Zak than Jef Holm. I can't believe Sean (prodded, I am guessing, by TPTB) keeps floating that idea when surely Jef can find his next 2-month relationship at any sorority house across the U.S. when school starts up again this fall.

2. If having a colorful free-spirited intellectual like Zak means having an interesting mix of women (with less silly drama/cat fights), bring it on. I'd love to see more women like Catherine, Leslie and Des from Sean's season on the next Bachelor. And, go ahead, throw in an Erica Rose just for fun.

OK I get that, but then I do not agree Drew comes out nicer than Zak. He is bang in the middle of the drama, spreading what he heard to the other guys, etc...
Dont get me wrong, i actually do not think he isnt a nice guy, guess I am just playing devil's advocate here but I am failing to see why he is nicer than Zak who has hardly said a bad word about anyone, warranted or not.

it's a little hard to explain but i would say being a nice guy isn't just how you treat people directly. zak has a wild/rebellious side so he has a bit of an "edge". nice guys don't pose naked on their balcony on national tv. :giggling:drew is a bit of a goody goody type. so, that goes into him being nice even if he is tattling on james. he's playing the moral police. i guess in some ways it is being more socially conventional too whereas zak is a freethinker and i'm guessing a bit of a rebel.

Fair enough.... I'd still take Zak over Drew or Chris for Bachelor, although I am pretty sure I would enjoy any of them!
