As for Des...I wonder if maybe her father said something to Sean during the HTD? In the past, I remember one dad telling the lead, if he wasn't feeling it, to let her go...and he did. I can't remember who it was? Does anyone else? Kacie?

It was Kacie's father that told Ben that during her HTD. :Nod:

According to RS, Desiree's HTD is in
CA. Her parents live in Ohio so I don't know if they were present at HTD.
unless they flew there. I wonder who has the dark family secret, too...it probably is tame, you're right Julychild.

I agree about these ladies being his sure picks. I think these were the three most easy going women of the season and we know from what Sean has told us that he likes low maintenance, drama free, fun types. While Lesley could have fit in this group as well, for some reason I think he is not feeling her ... or maybe, he is sensing, that she is not really feeling him.

The one I am puzzled about is AshLee. I just don't see anything there. Yes she is attractive, nice and kind hearted, but she is so intense and serious. Sean is an easy going, fun loving guy...and she just doesn't fit like any of Catherine, Lindsey, Des or Lesley. Frankly, she just seems so much older than he does...even though, she is only three years older. Why does she make it to F3? Did the PTB want an emotional, heart breaking drama at F3? Was there something there that we, or rather I, did not see?

I think we have heard Sean say, either on the show or in one of his gazillion interviews, that he tried to 'date' some girls whom he wouldn't normally have dated back in Texas so that he was sure to take full advantage of the season. I think AshLee fell into that camp. He probably saw her depth of thought and emotion and that she was not the giddy type. And he probably figured out eventually that that was not enough for him. I also think that Catherine wasn't his usual type and he eventually found that she had staying power. JMO.

I truncated your post, Spritey, but, yes, I think Ashlee's bigger story pushed her to the F3 as well as Dez's demise. Also, she's the first one to tell him, "ily." Guaranteed heartbreaking exit whether at F4 or F3. I also think Sean doesn't mind kissing her. I do remember that Chris said that Ash's intensity would become an issue later in the season.

As for Dez, I rewatched epi 5 & 6 last night, I think that they are showing us the trajectory of that relationship, which reminds me very much of Ash and Brad's. She too had massive doubts. Dez told Daniella that she knew how she felt and had been there, words she used to comfort Daniella after she saw Cat and Sean's lap sitting. Did Dez observe his intimacy with other girls and start to realize that she was slipping?

In epi 5, Sean's cocktail party talk with Dez showed a very insecure Dez, and I think that her insecurity and admission that she was questioning her feelings threw Sean for a loop. I think he used the second 1:1 to try to get her back in the game, but I don't think it worked for either of them despite the things said. It seemed as though her doubt flipped a switch in him that they were on the decline. I imagine that it coincided with the upward climb of Cat.

I expect him and Dez to struggle next week too and Cat to get stronger if I'm to believe that Dez wasn't the one he wanted before it fell apart b/c she didn't reciprocate his feelings. Otherwise, I would say that the season may too closely parallel Dee's.

One other thing about Dez: when she described her husband, she said she wanted someone who was assertive and would take care of his family. I wonder if, watching Sean with Tierra, if Dez saw that as passivity. Not only was Sean being played by her, but worse, if he knew about her all along and was being guided by production and refused to stand up to them, then that too caused concern for her.

Just a thought.

My apologies for the comparison but I haven't seen an F4 so out of the bubble as Dez since Graham (not saying it's the same result). I see similarities in their state of awareness.

You would think if her parents were going to be part of the HTD it would have been in OH. If she's keeping her family from Sean then I think she's trying to pull away from him.

To your point, the prank at the beginning of the season with the "artwork" was so, so telling, and from her reaction I formed my impression of her. Dez wasn't fooled, and she didn't even pretend to be fooled. Nor she didn't laugh at the joke, nor did she say "I wasn't fooled". Her only reaction was a lackluster "I didn't do it", which almost seemed like an "I don't care, not my problem" reaction. Kind of a scrappy, street-smart reaction, if you ask me.

Desiree seems too common-sense no-BS intelligent for Sean for a long-term relationship. I always thought she'd be better suited for someone more complex and astute.

thanks for pointing that out!! I remember thinking at the time that the prank fell flat and he/they didn't get the desired reaction they thought they'd get... or would have gotten from somebody else.

Des and Sean would be a terrible match in the long run. Glad she didn't go further than HTD's, would have wasted both of their time.

Something else to think about:
Maybe Yawn can dish it out, but not be so smoothly able to "take it". My measure of a true sense of humor is the person who can truly laff at him/herself first and foremost.
We saw the pranks both season he was in and both seemed fairly cheesy to me, but apparently this was TPTB's way to showcase Yawn's sense of humor. So now the tables will be turned on Desiree's HTD and maybe it goes over like a lead balloon.
Now--for what I think: this again is just a Machine ploy to jazz up the epi as they always need one of the dates to have the eccentric vibe. I do not think the idea was Des'. Not buying that tomato cart today. Already had my V8. I think she may have gone along with the prank knowing she was probably for whatever reason not going further in the process.
Also, wonder if Yawn does not take this prank well, what the Machine is trying to say about him.

I would not take the prank well if I know I was interested in a person and she had a boyfriend on the side because I do believe Sean is really looking for a wife

I took her reaction as being someone who doesn't suffer fools gladly. It's the same reaction she has towards Tierra. Maybe she felt if Sean is so into her, why would I want HIM?
