Smart, level-headed, mature, good-natured, straight-forward people tend to make for boring reality TV.

I think the problem lies with MF and the producers. They need to get more creative with the editing and the story-telling. Personally, I'm sick of the drama... real, and producer driven. After watching the Canadian Bach, I know it can be done! MF needs a new schtick.... this one is so old it's got dinosaur poop on it....

I agree about being sick of the pseudo drama and the stale formula.
To me, it really isn't so much about the cast. It's being able to foretell what you can expect.

No clue if he and F1 will last. Wolf seems to think not. I'd guess that Sean is one of a few Bachelors who'd try.

That's one of the reasons this season will be an interesting sociological study. If, as he has stated, he is waiting for sex to be part of a marriage relationship then except for the anticipation and sexual tension, they will build a relationship on communication and shared ideals, hopes, dreams. Wolf knows him pretty well, but I don't think he could totally understand. I think he wants a marriage that will last when the fire doesn't burn quite so hot. (Not that he won't enjoy the hot fire while it's there, but I think he wants a steady blaze more).

MF seems to think that we want to see the girls fighting and crying blah blah blah.....news flash MF .... that's the opposite of what we want to watch. Believe it or not - we still want to see a romance at the end of all this bs, and would like to see how the relationship blossoms over time.

Instead of giving the audience a dating show, MF is trying to combine The Bach, Survivor and Amazing Race laugh out loud

Hands down best post because of the bolded. I must be one of the few that is loving this season. But man everyone hated Ashley season with a passion. There was so much drama with Bentley that people tuned out because that seemed to be what the focus was. I see the same thing happening here with Sean's season. They are focusing so much attention on Tierra that we are not seeing the relationships really develop with the other girls. I mean seriously, if we did not know that Catherine was F1, I don't think anyone would pick her as F1. I know many of my unspoiled friends just found out who she was this past episode, otherwise they had no idea who she was.

Jury you are not the only one loving this season. I am also really enjoying it thus far and I suspect, I will enjoy it even more as the season progresses.

I will admit, I was not happy when I found Ashley was the Bette...she was just too perky, emotional and boring on Brad II, and let's face it, I was rooting for Chantal. The Bentley drama just reinforced my first opinion, but once she and JP had that first date, I sat up and took notice. Once the whole stupid Bentley drama was played out to the producers satisfaction, we got to see more of the real Ashley...which I would have liked from the get go. I ended up loving that season because we got to see those two become a couple...a couple I could see lasting.

You are right that Tierra is this seasons Bentley...distracting us from the real action. I am seeing relationships develop. I think part of the problem is that Sean is too nice and open to the whole process, hence he seems to like everyone...but, there is liking someone and then there is liking someone!

If I learned nothing else from Ashley's season it's that sometimes you need to be patient and you have to wait until the distracting, producer driven drama is gone to get to the good stuff.

I am enjoying this season. lol I am a pretty boring person though meaning that the boring dates and 'normal' dates are the ones I usually like versus the real fantasy type ones. :)

We all seem to be on the same wavelength...less producer driven drama and editing tricks. I would also like to add that it would be helpful if they actually tried to cast more for the lead and less for the drama.

Yes, I would love to see less drama and more of the fun moments. There has to be a ton of fun going on in the house with all of the girls and what they talk about. Especially with all the etoh they get. Show us some fun drunk moments or something at least.

Not sure who came up with the name Tierrable but that is hysterical!! #niceone
She really is something. Now have they already filmed the women tell all show yet? Who thinks Tierrable will show up for that? Can a contestant flat out say,"I'm not coming"?

NCGalBecca wrote:I am really confused by this whole season. The editing is so bad, the lighting in many scenes is atrocious, many of these dates are either asinine or total repeats and the derisive commentary on Twitter by the producers about the show and contestants has been surprising. I am guessing that Sean is so easy going and nice that they opted to create their own chaos.

I am seeing a lot of commentary where people like Sean and the ladies but aren't enjoying the season or are bored with it. It appears TPTB really like Sean a lot but didn't really put much effort into the planning and production of the show. Based on their own comments, it is almost like they view their own work product as a joke of sorts.

I haven't followed production's commentary this season except for those posted on the board. The show seems to love Sean, and they are dragging Tierra through the mud. It makes me wonder if she gave production hell so this edit is payback. Even the former contestants say rather unkind things about her. I feel badly for her.

I also have read that people find the season boring. For me, it's refreshing, and I think it will get more interesting as we get to epi 6 through 8. Interestingly though, Sean's gained viewers so the average watcher likes him.

crap wrote:Is Sean's idea of fun and romance is scaring the heck out of your date, and imploring them into doing frightening things they otherwise would not normally do, then to me, this makes him a bit of a weirdo.

Production plans the dates with input from the lead based on his interests. Sean doesn't plan the dates since they're brainstormed by the team months in advance. The nature of these dates reflects Sean's high energy and athleticism. He isn't a sedentary guy and most likely won't last with a woman who doesn't share that passion to some degree. I find this season's dates much more normal than some of the dates in previous seasons. The Joshua Tree date is right up my alley, and the relaxed dinner that night was a good way to end it. I imagine that other girls in Sean's group envied that date.

Sean said night one that he wants to "love and protect" his woman; he wants to be her rock. What better way to let him live into that than present challenging dates in which Sean becomes that man for the woman!

Who knows the reason that marketing is using these superlative adjectives in their press releases. Makes it seem more exciting? We know they exaggerate everything.

When I read your post I got to the last sentences and I thought it said, "Superlaxative". spitcoffee

Nice post by the way.

There are quite a few of us, me included, who are looking for the relationships and don't love the smoke screen. What I love about Sean is that his face IS expressive and what he's saying to the women, yes, even Tierra, is what he really feels in that moment. Do I think he thinks all those things now? No. But I think he's doing the best he can- and by being so present with everyone he's developing the problem of how to sort it out.... he self describes it as being early- which I think means that he feels (as of October whenever) that he has come to no conclusions, nor is he close to that, but he can see possibilities with a number of the women there.

I am very hopeful for his choice, and that she "gets it"- I have no doubts that Sean will be able to unpack all the things that went on when she wasn't around- and I hope they can have a good sense of humor about it all.

I'm enjoying this season and I really didn't think I would. I like a few of the women a lot and find Sean to be a nice guy. I don't find him nearly as boring as Travis, Lorenzo, & Brad. I don't think the dates are bad other than I didn't like the roller derby GD. I'm afraid of heights yet would have done both of the adrenaline dates so far.

Honestly every season you hear the same complaints. I don't think much has changed over the years. There's always a drama person(s) and they get way more airtime than the f1 in the first few episodes. Some people find the lead boring or not attractive and others love them.

that's the point... same complaints every season.... MF's style of producing is too repetitive....they need some fresh blood with some different ideas. SSDD Rolling Eyes

From what we saw, Catherine came up with the Tierrable at the party before the last RC.

They film the WTA a week or two before the final. The ATFR is also usually filmed shortly thereafter.

Courtney came to the WTA even though she was in the F2 and nobody thought she would. There have been other contestants who refused because they didn't like their edit ... Jillian's Wes and Ashley's Bentley are the two who jump to mind.
