Technical Questions - How do you...?

Is there a way to watch/follow a thread even if you are not posting in it and be notified of new posts to that particular thread? I know that I can use the "view new posts" and see all new posts and scroll to search for the threads I want. But I am wondering if I can mark a thread as one that I am following so that new posts to that thread will show up on my notifications? There are a few threads that I follow, enjoy reading their posts but have not posted on and would like to keep following. Any tips? Thanks for all you do and wishing you a happy holiday season.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] When you're in the thread you want to watch, scroll down to the bottom of the page, right hand side, "Watch this topic for replies".

Go to your profile, (under the banner) Notifications tab - choose the method you want to be notified. You can watch as many threads as you like.

iPad users - can you share how you post a link and a picture using an iPad? For example if you found a pic while google searching, how do you get the source, and post that picture.

I don't use anything other than a laptop so I'm not sure the procedure.

Any help would be appreciated. TYIA.

I searched through about 10 threads and decided to just ask! How do you post a video opposed to just the link? I can't figure it out!

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] sorry just noticing your post.  It depends on the site and picture.  

Sometimes you simply can hold your finger down until the option bar with copy and save show up.  Copy it and then post it here just as you normally would to post a pic.

When that won't work, if the person will look down below the picture where name/source is, on the right hand side, your will see a box with an up arrow.  If you click that a new box will pop up with options for SM and email.  At the bottom of that box you can find a link.  It'll say tap and hold to copy.  Do that and then paste the code here as normal to post a pic.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] what kind of video?  Where from?  IG vids are a little more complicated.  On YouTube vids and others you'll find a share section.  If YouTube, copy the code and use our YouTube button in the menu to post the code.  If a video from else where there should be an embed code as one of the options.

ETA: Just an FYI, some sites and articles do not have embed codes. We just have to post the link to the site or wait for someone to share it somewhere else. An example would be the main ABC site with its videos and previews. ABC/Disney Press gives embed codes.

Ok, for example, this article, 'Bachelor' sneak peek: Arie Luyendyk Jr. isn't hiding his chemistry with 1 contestant's video has a set of < / > (with no spaces in between) on the bottom play bar.

If you click that it gives you the iframe code to embed it.  Copy and paste that into your post and hit post.

And this is another example.  To see the share option, the video has to be playing. This video has a < with dots on all the ends/points.  Its on the bottom bar next to the play side.  It is a share button as well.  Click that button and copy the embed, iframe code.  Paste it here into your post and hit post.



For a youtube video such as this one from People it's a youtube video. Look in the top right corner, click the arrow.  When you do the screen changes, copy the code.  Paste it into the youtube button above (next to the link button).  

Or type out the code: [ youtube ]link[/ youtube] but remove the spaces between the words and brackets and paste the link in between.



***Just a note, if you try to preview your post with an iframe embed code, it will not show a preview post, I always get a white screen.  So you either need to preview the post before you post the code or edit if/as necessary after.

What is a gear symbol?

Click the button that looks like this < /> (but with no spaces in between) it'll give you a code. Copy and past that code into a post and hit post. It'll show the video.
