The Bachelor 17 - Speculation/Spoilers - Discussion

Apologies if this has been discussed and dissected, as I haven't been following the Board or the sleuthing. But have we ever had a F1 that wasn't shown having 1-on-1 time at the first epi cocktail party (that is if RS is right)? I thought they always show some alone time between F1 and lead in first epi to start building the story. Just curious...

If I am remembering correctly, I don't think that they showed Melissa Rycroft's alone time.

I beg to differ with RS on this point as I think Sean would appreciate a woman who is open and honest and to use his words "a woman that has no doubts" even if he doesn't feel the same way about her. I don't believe it would be seen as a negative as RS kind of implies. Unfortunately, it appears Sean didn't return those feelings and could be why she left at F3 - out of compassion but not because she expressed her feelings for him. I dread watching this goodbye for sure.

It makes sense why she posted and pinned those things she did when she came home. She probably fell for him hard and I could see why he let her go at the F3 so she didn't meet his family which would have possibly made it harder! I dread this goodbye too. A lot of the F3 goodbyes are sometimes the hardest. I'm sure it was hard for Lindsay too though.

If RS is right, then I don't understand why they didnt show Sean's interaction with Catherine. Call me cynical , but I don't believe its because their chemistry is so strong so it has to be hidden. I don't understand why Sean can't say if he picked someone or not either. Did he even say he is happy? I also don't like he said he's developed strong feelings for multiple women; how would his F1 feel? I hope Catherine is very strong, or don't read any press release.

It's normal for them not to say if they picked someone or even if they're happy. It seems we discuss it every season. It's unusual to not show much interaction in epi 1 but they may be going for a stealth f1. I don't worry about things they're instructed to say pre-season. For some reason Fleiss thinks it makes for drama if they hold things back and make the ending questionable.

The thing I think of is that it's not the lead that's editing the show, it's the producers who are editing it to get the best drama and not necessarily the best romance story. If it was up to Sean he'd probably only put in scenes with Catherine :winkie:

So is the first episode already edited and finished? I guess so or how would RS know that Catherine wasn't shown? Still it could still be changed up couldn't it?

I think RS was given access to watch the first episode. I think based on what some other media outlets said in regards to the first episode Catherine's interactions with Sean will not be shown much.

I hope he turns out to be wrong and the first episode does include their first private conversation. :giggle:

It depends on the lead and the type of season they are going for. The last couple of seasons TPTB have kept a tight lid on allowing the lead to share if they ended up picking someone and their current status.

During Brad's second season as the lead he was allowed to say he picked someone. There were other seasons in which the lead was allowed to share they picked someone a few weeks before the Finale aired.

It's not very often that they can say anything prior to the show starting. I don't think at this point it's indicative of how much potential the final couple has. There can be all kinds of reasons why they won't let them say anything yet.

Agreed although Sean does say near the end of the extended preview that he "knows without a shadow of a doubt who his wife is' and that he is 'going to spend the rest of his life with this one woman." That sounds declarative to me.
