The Bachelor 17 - Speculation/Spoilers - Discussion

Well the last few days have been interesting. Last night, we 2/3 confirmation that Arie is the bachelor and tonight we get insistence from RS that he will not be. What gives?

I remember hearing him say that, but it all comes down to ratings and ultimately money. If he needs to change his mind some day, he will, I think.

If MF could get a 'name' to agree to do the show he go for it in a flash. Hey, maybe he should woo Tiger Woods - help with his lawsuit and we know Tiger loves the ladies. Wouldn't that be a train wreck???

The decision will be made in the next week. U know those showbiz types. Any excuse to turn a 3-day weekend into a full-blown vacation...

Not that I believe too much of what he has to say but possibly on Monday's Bachelor Pad - dwts doesn't start until the 24th so they won't wait that long.

Honestly I hope they wait until Halloween to announce. We'll have the F1 by then.

Excluding RS's swearing up and down that Arie will never be TB, there are no other hints as to it being anyone other than him, right? I guess the People poll only mentioning Sean and Lochte did give me pause because that's the show's go to magazine. I wish we would know so we can all move on. :)

Wasn't it RS who swore up and down Emily would never be the lead?

IF it's Arie, is it possible they are waiting to announce it after his announcement this weekend for racing? I know it's probably possible but that's a lot of sponsers, media, travelling, racing and practicing to juggle for TB and a racing career.

Does anyone believe RS and think it's absolutely anyone other than Arie? Do we really think a decision hasn't been made?

I hope it isn't going to be Ryan Lockte. There are several media quotes where he says he wants it. I think the show would turn into a Jersey Shore type show if he is the Bachelor.His family is something else.Maybe they are kin to Honey boo boo :shocked!:

Perhaps a decision has been made but I don't think there would be a lot of upside to announcing right now..politics, hurricane, holiday weekend..are occupying the media. It's a crowded news space going into a lull..dead space for 3 days with the holiday.

Twitter right now is all about the Republican Convention and the Hurricane. Next week, it'll be the Democratic Convention and post-hurricane issues for most of the week. So the timing currently would align with the BP finale. Of course, there could always be a leak before then.

I agree. Mixed feelings about Arie, or anyone I really like being TB. And even more than that, would love to see new blood and a different story line...

I keep thinking that I'd like new blood and then I remember Lorenzo/Matt/Jesse - maybe when they take a person they have experience with it works out better (although there was Jake).

As for a different story line I suggested somewhere a couple of months ago that during the Fantasy dates the couples should have to arrange (with tptb money - set amount) their own dates and get themselves to the airport and hotel. They'd quickly find out if they travel well together and agree on doing the same sort of activities.

Yes, I remember that you suggested this.....and I like it a lot! I would watch this for sure! I am so very tired of the stilted edited conversations and the formulaic casting too. I am waiting to see if this will be the end of it for me. It's getting stale and all the acrimony on the boards this season has taken away another reason for me to be involved. I have not made it through a single full episode of BP either this time, even though I find some of the characters amusing. The format holds no excitement any more, sad to say.

I believe Blondiegal ANYDAY over RS. He hasn't had a good lead in a long time!

I was really confused about RS being so confident...but, I remember him being so confident about Ali being single and Brad/Chantal. Even, when there were many clues that he was wrong (US Weekly saying Roberto proposed, people saying that they saw Chantal on a date, Emily not being -ette, etc).

I still maintain that he's going off on old information and is biased by personal opinion.
