The Bachelor 17 - Speculation/Spoilers - Discussion

OMG!!! Love Arie's new website!!!!! Did you guys see it? It is awesome and has videos and everything!!! He is so funny and would make such a great bachelor!!! I am a total fan of his (as well as JEM) and I really hope I get to see him fall in love!!! (Also, he tweeted that hearing how crazy Ben is about Courtney makes him think about possibilities (or something like that). I am paraphrasing. How cute it that?!)

Last night, he spent some time quietly thanking some of the fans who had made videos and art for him, a number who post on this board a lot. He's a very thoughtful guy.

I'm of mixed feelings as to whether I want Arie as TB or not. I do believe it's always been his for the asking but he seems to be a nice guy and I'm not sure this franchise appreciates nice guys. RS also seems to have a hate-on for him and will be looking and digging for any and all dirt.

As for Sean, he may be a very nice guy but I don't like the active campaigning done by him and his sister for the position. Makes me wonder about why they want it so badly (from his many posted pictures there are plenty of women who appear as though they'd be more than willing to give him a chance at love).

Actually, I'm not sure why anyone would want this position - pretty sure it's not to find the 'girl of his dreams'. That's one of the major reasons that so few relationships have worked out (imo). Everyone goes on with another agenda other than love and if they do find 'love' it's somewhat of a by-product.

Sean was never actively campaigning for the gig. His sister and some of his fans might, but I never got the feeling he was pursuing the job.

I am happy that Arie seems to have the job. Moreso because I didn't want Sean to be it.

Ugh I hope I don't get In trouble for posting this here but for the many, many people I just PMed, the part about being on the IPad to watch BPad was in Ghana, not SC.

I'll watch regardless of who tb is. It's not so much that I like the show as it is that I love this forum. Love the way we all work together at the beginning of the season to find out information, sleuth the screencaps (hopefully they won't be as stingy this season) and try to figure out the ending before it happens on air. It's only when the 'favourites' start to emerge that some people decide to 'take sides' and then small disagreements can grow.

I agree tremendously with your last paragraph. But, as for the two guys...

Interesting that you see the two of them that way. I kind of feel the opposite. IMO, Arie is the one who would benefit more from the bachelor gig, and I just got that feeling mid way in the latest bachette season as well that this was what he was after. From what I have read, he is the son of a successful driver who has not really achieved the same level of respect or stature as his dad, and he is getting a ton more attention after his stint on this show, which could lead to better opportunities. No brainer.

Sean, on the other hand, was just a "guy" with a regular job who went on the show with seemingly no ulterior motives. Maybe that will, or has changed, but being the bachelor will not lead to the kind of opportunities that are likely to go Arie's way due to where they both began. Period.

But, realistically, it could be a disaster for either one of them (or for that matter, whichever victim is picked for the next show) because it sure does seem like the typical arc of - build them up to tear them down SAVAGELY - is the fallout from being on this show. I honestly don't understand why ANYONE in their right mind would put themselves through this unless they were hoping for some big payout in the end, and I'm not talking about love, but celebrity and fame.

Sorry, feeling a bit jaded now. Watched this past season believing and hoping for a love story and instead of celebrating that and encouraging it as an example for future "contestants" (ie suckers), we see the press tearing at them and trying to ruin the love story - for what - magazine sales... pathetic.

I agree. Did he really want the job? If he didn't, why didn't he tell his sister to back off? She seemed to want it more than he did. I always thought that he needed to find a girl in his own time. Sean is not the kind of guy that wants to be pushed or rushed when it comes to love. He seems so careful about his feelings and I think Bachelor could have been a real trial for him.
