Hi, I'm new here. I've searched the web over for a site like this and finally half-way through found one. I've been lurking and reading and reading. Man, there is a lot to read!! But, all of you seem to have a lot of insight to the things that no-one else notices. Something has been bugging me ever since I saw the last episode before the holidays. I am a Ben and JP fun. I've loved JP since he hopped out of the Limo, and Ben since he painted that mural, so I will be happy either way it goes.

Here's what is bugging me, and hopefully you guys can help. I watched the cocktail party and specifically looked for reactions from Ben and JP. Of course, JP would be okay because she already told him. But, Ben simply done nothing but do the downward shift of his eyes and a glance over. Disappointed, maybe, I don't know. However, there was no 1:1 time like there was with everybody else. I had to go to the kitchen, so I paused the DVR and when I got back I looked up and there was Ben sitting on a couch with Ashley behind Constantine's head when he was discussing Ashley and what she told them.

So, I watched the whole thing again. From the moment she walks away, you can clearly see Ben and her on the couch the whole time. Even when the men are all discussing her after the 1:1 segments, it pans too Ben's face a couple of times, but he's not even there. Because you can still see him on the couch behind Constantine's head when they show him. And he never says one word or joins in on the discussion until the very end when he says she needs to focus on the guys she has and she will be fine.

Does anyone know why they would leave this out or not show this too us. Is it just because they don't want to show the even keeled guys 1:1? Or are they hiding the actual conversation and what they discussed with each other from us? Or are they just saying that it's no importance? But, if it's not important why would they edit Ben to look like he is in the group of men when he clearly is not there.

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this or not, but it really has been bugging the heck out of me, and by reading previous posts, you guys seem to know the ins and outs of why the edit some ways and not others. Thank you so much for anyone you understands this.

We've discussed this at length and have to admit, we're all pretty much in the same boat as you... confused Not showing a 1/1 conversation with ashley is very puzzling as he's in the final 2. But even if he didn't have much to say you'd think they would have included something. The only thing I can come up with is that he didn't say things that a caring F2 should have said. Who knows, maybe he was doing his Scoobie Doo voice and being silly

YES, this site is wonderful. I love it! I was beginning to think I would find nowhere like this until I "accidently" stumbled upon the right search. I was actually searching out Love_Me because someone recommended that her posts were great to read and ended up here.

Thanks for answering that question.....been bugging me to know end. I was thinking either she said something we can't hear or he was chewing her out like Big Tex and Blake did. Sorry if ya'll had already covered it. But, there are so many posts.....never would have found the answers.

The only reason I can think of that they would cut out any of Ben's conversations with Ashley is that the storyline they're going for is Bentley vs. JP in the first half and then Ryan vs. JP in the second half, not Ben vs. JP. Several things point to this, like after Ashley gets roasted, the two guys we see comforting her are Bentley and Ryan. Ben was on this date, but we don't get to see any conversation between him and Ashley. After Bentley returned and left again, Ashley brings him up to JP before anyone else and he's supportive of her. At the cocktail party, he defends her and Ryan is in agreement with him. We also get to see Ryan talk to her and support her. We don't get to see any conversation between Ben and Ashley yet again. In the season preview we hear Ashley say she regretted letting someone go and that he flew all the way to Fiji. This could only be Ryan. We also hear her say she's having a struggle in her head between what she thinks is right for her and what she feels. I think she may be talking about Ryan and JP in this quote because she's said a few times he has everything she's looking for. I think she feels like she should like him because of that. And Ryan's return makes this look even more like this is the storyline they're going with. In the season preview, we see her tell someone she wished things had gone differently. She is wearing the same outfit and earrings that we see her wear with JP in another part of the preview. I think she's telling him about Ryan. All this is really just my opinion and I could be wrong about it, but it seems like this is where it's going.

Don't ever be sorry for bringing up a subject a second time. Things get overlooked, or sometimes reviewing something brings new insight, and people can miss it one thread but will discuss it in another, or sometimes we even have a life for a few days and just can't read it all and whoever gave you the advice to look for Love-Me, gave you good advice! :Nod:

Speaking of things that might have been missed: I noticed that everyone pretty much agrees that JP has had his heart broken. And we haven't heard that Ben ever has. But, I found this press release from abcmedianet.com that came out on May 3. It listed Ben as a "broken hearted winemaker", although the only mention of trouble seems to be from his father's passing.

Yes, I mean I think what I realize is that I went into a thing I wanted just a good man and somebody who is loyal and a family man, and I think as time went on there were more things that I saw in the guys that I wanted but most importantly what I realize is that I wanted someone that made feel good and made me feel like a woman, made me feel like I was able to be vulnerable. I will tell you maybe a selfish thing to say or maybe more of a kind of what I was thinking. I surprised myself with overcoming some of the fears that I had and some of the insecurities that I had so I guess that’s kind of a personal, but that’s probably my biggest surprise without giving out too much away.

Could apply to either helping her overcome her fears, although... sorry to say this... we've seen Jordan play a larger role here so far. She gained confidence about revealing Bentley in Hong Kong to the others after her date with him. Again, Ben's time may be coming soon.

So I would have to say one of my favorite group dates was, we are in Thailand and we actually renovated an orphanage and that was the most rewarding and probably the most exciting group dates that I went on. I mean it's something that I will remember for the rest of life.

Note: This is a significant date for Ashley. Since Ben is prominent in both her and Chris Harrison's blogs and JP only casually mentioned in the second, one COULD consider this a very PRO Ben sign. However, caution is needed here. Episode #5 Iceland was a major turning point for Ali last year and Roberto was hardly mentioned at all that particular week. Sometimes, it is better to be "under the radar"...

And then I will say an overall statement without pinpointing a specific date in that we had a lot of cultural dates, dates where we went through marketplaces and I thought I learned a lot about different cultures, and I think to go through that with some of the guys, they are traveling to these places for the first time as well. It was educational and romantic at the same time.

Pro Ben: received a marketplace date in Chaing Muy. Personally, I think this is a weak case for F1.

I always get this question. It's so funny. Actually, the day I got back from filming The Bachelorette, I colored my color back to my natural [color] and that’s what you saw. And it had been that way for a few months. So, it was new to everyone else, but not so much to me and my friends.

Pro Ben: he mentions a preference for brunettes. Also comments on her hair out of the limo (ep #1).

Gina Carbone: On the past few seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, Ali and Brad, they both said they fell for their partner pretty early in the season. Did you have a front- runner early on? Or did that change along the way?
Ashley Hebert: How do I answer this without obviously saying too much? I have to say that there were points in time where I thought that I had front-runner and things change quickly. I will tell you that, I mean, they go up and down and back and forth. Yes that’s I guess that’s all I am going to say.

This can go either way. Ben was not a frontrunner from what we saw initially, but Jordan definitely was. Both William and Bentley did become frontrunners for a short time: the former on his 1 on 1 date when she claimed she fell for him, the latter at least around the time of the comedy roast date and his sudden departure caused serious problems. This could also raise the possibility of her affections mushrooming for Ben in the final week.

No problem. Another possibility could be that she just wasn't into Ben at first and there was nothing much to show. It looks to me that she started becoming interested in him on the orphanage date and it went on from there. I still think Ashley's initial F4 were supposed to be Bentley, Ryan, William and JP. It all changed when Bentley left, William roasted her and Ryan became too desperate, so only JP stayed in the F4. After Bentley left, we see more interaction with Ben and some of the other guys. I think Constantine is only in the F4 for an easy elimination. I can't explain Ames at all. If I hadn't been spoiled, I would've thought Lucas would be in the F4.
