Agree, Pattycake. I've seen venom and untruths (posted as fact) about JP plus name calling of him. I have seen no such thing about Ben, or very little. There were tons of posts that I believe were deleted that were character assassition, as NativeNewYorker also posted, and many other things. My feeling is unless we know any of these contestants in real life, , that's going over the line of a non-fan opinion. Never understood the hate for the lead and any her guys on this show and never will. JMO

I'm down here in the South as well, in fact, any further South and you're in Cuba... and having lunch with is not the same as seeing someone at lunch... but granted, apparently she did say she saw him.

Let's see. A woman tweeted she saw Ben having lunch. She seems very reliable from her twitter profile, so I do believe it. No reason she would just make up something so innocent. Obviously, she has no idea by tweeting it, because she was so happy to see Ben, that sleuthers, like Pattycake, figured out that meant Ben was still in SF, while we know JP and Ashely were in LA. Yet, Pattycake is ridiculed and some have the nerve to imply she made it all up. Absurd. I guess whatever floats your boat to not believe Ben was still in SF, go for it, but don't hate the messenger.

True, Rich, but we know Ashely was in LA no later than Thursday for GL, so she stayed, no way they would fly her back to Philly and back again this weekend. Also,I believe the tweet about seeing JP walking, and the tweet about him being at LAX. Checking the tweeters profiles, they all seemed legit. jmo

This reminds me so much of Emily after the Las Vegas episode when she had to justify that the producers did NOT abused her being at a nascar place and it was all good for her to turn the page etc...... First time I think that one of the contestant made an interview while she was still officially part of the show. .... after this Vegas episode we never heard of Ricky anymore..

Now I find interesting that the producers have this need to justify that NOTHING happened during this overnight.

IMO... since JP is F1.... it would not look so well in the public eyes to consider Ashley as a s**t.... There is a difference between imagining something might happen during the fantasy date and claiming before the HTD that she spend the night with one of the contestant. however this lead me that they spent an awfully lot of time during this date together. however, it was in my eyes a very normal 1:1 date with a fun moped trip (no possibility to talk much) and a nice dinner. Funny also that Ben did not mention that the date was hours away from the hotel and it was decided that they remained there


again the producers played the drama jealousy card. They know very well their contestant and who is in love or not..... what an opportunity to stir JP's insecurities by not telling him upfront? I am sure that if he had known that the reason of the overnight was the distance, he would have said: okay, no big deal, part of the show. Yet nothing was said.

Are we really have a semantics discussion on what "with" means? I don't think Pattycake92 meant to imply that this woman was necessarily part of Ben F's lunch party in SF. I see why people took it that way but now that it's been rehashed and rehashed it's pretty clear what she originally meant - right? For her "with" apparently means in the same building as. That isn't how I'd say it but now I understand exactly what she meant.

I don't think Ben F could have carried the season in a supporting role the way Chris L and Reid did so I agree with ironcat there (I added Reid in there myself though). It's not because Ben F's not a funny, smart, attractive guy because I think he is. It's because when the cameras were around he seemed to live a little more in his own head space. There's nothing wrong with that except for TV purposes. The producers did take a couple moments where he showed his personality: with Dino at the boat race when they weren't taking the process seriously in a really hilarious way, and then with his family and in PIs when he got back home. Maybe Ben F got more open as the show went on since Ashley H did say she was expecting his family to be loud and goofy like he was and they didn't show us his whole costume bit. But we didn't get to see that because they wanted to show his sensitive side.

I think they could have edited Ben differently if they wanted to make Ben "appealing" as the next lead. This is actually one of the reasons that make me feel he is in fact the F1. IMO, JP is getting the next Bach edit, because he will be suitably heart-broken and the viewers (witnessed by the overwhelming support for JP) have really been shown his raw emotions and anxiety on his journey through the show.

I'm saying this as somebody who's been waiting to start seeing Ben F get a viable F1 edit because I've spent this whole season waiting and waiting for a F1 switcheroo that has yet to come:

I think TPTB have run out of time to show us why anybody other than JP is a viable F1. If JP is not F1 then I think the most that can happen is the edit showing some dramatic event (like sister's disapproval) that resulted in him not being F1 with somebody else stepping into the F1 position by default.

They've showed too much of Ashley and JP's physical connection and they haven't left it there, they've also showed their emotional connection through the support they give each other. They've actually shown a multidimensional relationship between Ashley and JP which they have failed to show for any of the other F3. Ashley and Ben F are being shown as having flirtacious and friendly fun and Ashley and Dino are being shown as having respectful, friendly, and frank fun between 2 people who seem to find each other interesting.

I agreed with a lot of people when they said the edit starting with the HTDs is crucial. While I think you're right that dwelling on JP's past heartbreak is a possible set up for him to be the next Bachelor, Ben F's story of finally opening himself up after his father's death ranks equally as a possible set up to be the next Bachelor or at the very least a very sympathetic character. However both possible set ups are probably going to be trumped by Ryan's return next episode. But overall the HTDs sealed things in my mind because that was the time to really start showing the development of a relationship if that process hasn't started in earnest. We didn't really see Ashley and Ben F move forward together, we saw Ben F's emotional growth process on his own. And Ashley and JP's edit continued to move them forward together with Ashley asking JP if he had concerns about her (which would've been the perfect opportunity for editors to bring up jealousy issues again - but they didn't), him accepting he may get his heart broken at the end of this but he's willing to take the chance, and Ashley trying to reassure JP's mom with JP's mom accepting and seemingly reassured by Ashley's explanation.

^ All that is the edit in a vacuum. Add post show stuff to that and I'm genuinely not seeing a lot of room for anything other than a JP = F1 outcome. Not a lot of room doesn't mean no room, of course. I'm telling you there's still a chance ;)

I just hope that, once all is revealed, those whose guy isn't chosen don't become upset and start bashing the couple and insisting that they'll never last. We should all be gracious towards one another -- whether in victory, or in defeat.
