I think Ashley expunged all her feelings for Bentley in episode 6 and once free of the B dead weight ,she was able to allow herself to fall deeply in love w JP with no guilt. We just have to wait until FRC to get answers on some nagging questions and no ,I do not agree the Bentley's ghost is hanging over JP/Ashley's love story. Ashley's love for JP far surpasses all the feelings she felt for Bad Boy Bentley.JP and AShley were meant to be together.

If the ghost of Bentley is hanging over the JP/Ash love story in some viewers' minds, it matters not. I'm quite sure it's not hanging over JP and Ash's real life love story, and that's all that matters to them.

I haven't seen where Bens has been put down. I did see some outrageous accusations made against JP. I think you are confusing info that points to Ben being f2 as put downs. It's not. If I see a tweet that indicates Ben is still in San Fran and post it in Bens thread, I should not be made to feel unwelcome. [/quote]

Pattycakes, I commented on your post about the tweet, as did some others, because the tweet was not presented correctly. The tweet did not say the lady had lunch with Ben in SF. I felt your post made conclusions not in evidence by the actual tweet.

I agree. I think she really did put Bentley firmly to rest as early as episode 3 ( when he left) but the show most likely wanted to put Bentley in his place since he claimed to have "played" them hence why they brought him back to HK on the pretense of it being Ashley that asked him back to put her feelings to rest. I agree. She was so vulnerable in episode 3. I think that brought out the protective manly instinct in JP. He knows what it feels like to have your heart broken. I also think it was a challenge for him because she wasn't entirely focused on him. He had to work for it. LOL I think JP was definitely on her radar from the M&G but I think she had a little crush on Bentley. The bad boy was a temptation hard to resist. I think JP had already made up his mind that he wanted her early on and after their 1 on 1 he acted like she was already his gf whether Ash realized it or not. I think he fell before she did.

I don't think Ben F could have carried the season in a supporting role the way Chris L and Reid did so I agree with ironcat there (I added Reid in there myself though). It's not because Ben F's not a funny, smart, attractive guy because I think he is. It's because when the cameras were around he seemed to live a little more in his own head space. There's nothing wrong with that except for TV purposes. The producers did take a couple moments where he showed his personality: with Dino at the boat race when they weren't taking the process seriously in a really hilarious way, and then with his family and in PIs when he got back home. Maybe Ben F got more open as the show went on since Ashley H did say she was expecting his family to be loud and goofy like he was and they didn't show us his whole costume bit. But we didn't get to see that because they wanted to show his sensitive side.

I don't just think it's that Ben F was low key either. Ames was low key in his own way and he moved slowly but he was probably the most interesting person on the show this season. He made really good TV. It's hard to say why some people "pop" on TV and others don't. I just don't think saying one person "popped" on TV and another didn't is an insult.

I've always liked Ben. Always said that in my posts, even though I keep tootin' he ain't final one. Kept promoting him for Next Bachelor until the Britt reveal (if it is true)... now I guess I have to back Rocketship Ryan. After all, who wants to be Final 1 when practically EVERY Final 2 winds up married or in a long-term relationship post show, while the lead splits with their pick anyway? (Hopefully not this season though. I flipped my coin and I've got good "vibes".) It is so funny how everybody takes the whole "he has to be final one" business so seriously when you know that position does not have a great track record on this series.

What I don't like... and I guess they did it too much with Chris L. too (looking back in hindsight)... is that there's too strong an emphasis on his father's death story. I understand the point of all of these "loss" stories (William's dad, Ames' dad and stepdad, West's wife, Mickey's mom, Jeff almost dying himself), since they play a part in Ashley's story... she will be discussing Joe with her family and perhaps this is where the Chrystie battle fits in. (JP resembles him in some way?) Yet, Ben's hometown was one of the most depressing I've ever watched... not because of Ben, but because of the editing. The photo session on the couch was nice, but that segment NEEDED the Sonny Bono costume DESPERATELY! Shawntel's hometown was highly enjoyable and that was at a funeral home!

Ben is a very funny guy, like Reid and Chris. That dragon boat race was hysterical. The market trip was equally funny. NOBODY here could resist the wrong-way scooter trip. If we see THAT Ben as a lead, I can see many warming to a season of him. He also will be a pleasant return to those heady days of Andrew Firestone.

She tweeted that she saw him having lunch. No mention about her having lunch there and no pic so maybe she did see him or maybe she was mistaken. The tweet back didn't confirm anything. That's all we're saying, Pattycakes.

Agree, Pattycake. I've seen venom and untruths (posted as fact) about JP plus name calling of him. I have seen no such thing about Ben, or very little. There were tons of posts that I believe were deleted that were character assassination on JP, as NativeNewYorker also posted, and many other things. My feeling is unless we know any of these contestants in real life, that's going over the line of a non-fan opinion. Never understood the hate for the lead and any her guys on this show and never will. JMO.
