This is the one I was thinking they'd do, whenever I saw Melissa reply to someone that they were doing something upbeat. I knew AT was out because of Tony's back, plus doing it the very next week it would lose it's wow factor impact, and those lifts were so difficult it's not worth the risk of possibly not doing them as well the second time.

The Samba is Melissa's favorite dance style to do. It's a crowd pleasing type of dance and since it was in week 3, it was done far enough away that it can feel fresh again, and this time they can try to improve on it and get a 30. I do worry about her neck too with that first move they did, but, it's possible they may change the choreo on that part too. I remember when Shawn and Mark repeated their Cha Cha in season 8 finals, they changed some of the choreo so I think that's allowed.

Great pics. Hope they are working on a kickass freestyle. Am sure Shawn and Derek's will be. Any thoughts on which dance they should repeat? Is it too soon for AT? I really liked their VW especially if their freestyle is fast. Anybody have thoughts on what they should pick. I still am not sure about that third dance. Is it on the spot choreography?

The Instant Dance isn't on the spot choreography. They started this theme I think in season 11, so you can find clips on Instant Dances on youtube. What they do is, they practice a routine and have a dance choreographed already, but they have no idea what music they are going to be dancing it to until the live show and like 20 minutes before they do it. In those 20 minutes, they go backstage and try to adapt anything they need to in the routine to fit it the best they can with the music. The show will usually have Brooke go back and interview them while they are trying to practice to the music, which I'm sure annoys the hell out of them all. :laughingoutlou

When I first heard of the Instant Dance I thought most would be trainwrecks, but surprisingly they usually end up pretty good. I think my favorite one has been Kyle Massey's Jive, which ended up fitting the song so well that it was hard to believe they didn't know the song until that night.

Thanks for exlanation. I don't watch that closely on nonMelissa seasons.It's going to be weird to see Tony dance with somebody else next season. Any chance he will start to get better partners or more of the clunkers he usually gets.

The poor guy will be back to clunkers again. After season 8 with Melissa he never saw one single 10 for 3 and a half years until paired with her again. I think he saw a few 9's with Audrina, but she had no personality and was booted about the halfway point. I think that is as far as he got. Rest of the time, early boot including last season where he was first out. is it any wonder he is SO happy this season and doesn't want it to end? Here is what he has to look forward to after this

Are they all doing their Week 3 iconic dances?

Any thoughts on What Tony and Melissa will come up with for their freestyle? Sounds like they can bring in other dancers. I remember being a little disappointed in their season 8 freestyle but pretty sure I will be wowed by this one.

No clue. The only thing I'm sure of is that it won't be another hip hop routine. Melissa did say in her celebriquarium interview that they get a chance to redeem themselves in freestyle, so I'm certain it'll be completely different. She tweeted that she loves their new one, so I'm looking forward to Tuesday when I can watch it.

Bottom line: I hope they knock it outta the park because I want them to WIN!!!!

Ava is too freakin' adorable. I think it's one of the first pictures where I've seen her resemblance to Melissa. Previously, all I've seen is Tye.
