IrishGal wrote:Aaargh! One of the things I have enjoyed the last few weeks is that "flood control" was turned off. I'm a lousy typist and I often post then immediately see I made a typo and try to correct it. I can't do that with flood control on. Why did it get turned back on? It's never been turned on in any of my other forumotion forums...never got why it was turned on here. Please turn it back off....
Seconded!

The flood control is turned off and has never been turned back on or adjusted by Admin.

Re: About Our Site - Announcements - Important Info
GA, I do like the view new posts tabs but it's a little dangerous for those staying unspoiled because it's hard not to see the contestant threads that are getting a lot of posts. I may give in and be spoiled but I know not everyone wants to so my suggestion for them is to be careful using it or skip it for now.
I hate flood control also so hope it's off.

^^bean, I had the same feeling. The View New Posts kept putting some guys on my radar so I felt those guys were either going far or at least played a significant part to the storyline.
I went ahead and spoiled myself yesterday, but not because of that. I saw so much activity in the screencap discussion thread that I decided I wanted to jump in. Bottom line, I'll now be posting in the spoiler threads for this season.

Support doesn't know why flood control is happening. There is a minimum of 10 seconds even if flood control is turned off.
I have deleted, and refreshed it. Log out and sign back in. Let me know if this worked.
Thanks

Re: About Our Site - Announcements - Important Info
It's very difficult to stay unspoiled, and only the person who wants to stay spoiled has that control.
The original question was to move the General Discussion threads into the Fan Forum of the couples who have Fan Categores. This is due to the General Discussion thread will have a new post icon, only to discover the new posts are always those couples who have a lot of activity and not the others.
Moving General Discussion threads into the Fan Forums will cause confusion and more unneccessary monitoring of posts that are in the wrong area.
Thanks

Re: About Our Site - Announcements - Important Info
The topic of guests appears to be discussed and I'd like to clarify it now.
Guests can view the board, but they cannot post. Forcing guests to register will only lead to a large number of registered users who do not post. We already have a large number of users who registered and never came back wasting space.
Some of you insist at one time guests weren't able to view the board. Perhaps that's why there are thousands of users who have never come back. I can't speak for when that was or what happen, all I know is when the board was transferred that's how it was set up, guests cannot post but can view. Weighing the options at the time when I reviewed that section of the board, IMO it made no difference. Forcing them to register is not going to encourage them to post. They are welcome to register anytime, and join in on the conversations.
In fact, I came across guest posts dated March 14th before the board was switched. In order to ensure guests are limited to viewing only, every category and every topic has to be reviewed individually. I was able to go to that topic, and check guests view only.
Guests visit to lurk, to get info, for enjoyment, or for whatever reason, when they visit.
Whether they are registered or not, they will be able to obtain information if they want. We know a lot of information is taken from this forum, whether they are registered or guests. Therefore, if those guests who purposely visit here just to obtain information are not going to stop just because they have to register.
Guests are scattered all over the board. They are not just sitting in the sleuthing sections.
There are an average of 300-400 users online at one time. More than half of those are guests. Compare that to 8500 registered users, I don't want anymore users registered that register only for the sake of lurking during the season, and never logged on again after the season is over. Some register and never log on, at all. If you haven't logged on in 1-2-3 years chances are you're not coming back, and I don't want the space wasted.
Registered users who log on frequently who do not post, are welcome to continue visiting.
If you just so happen to log on as a guest, and notice that you're able to post, please advise me so I can check the forum/category in question. There are hundreds of forums/categories, and as a guest, there will not be a reply box at the bottom of the page.
I hope this clarifies the issue of guests.

Thanks!
I personally am not a fan of forcing people to register in order to read, so I'm good with this.

So you are saying that we have a limited amount of space on Forumotion? Does it cost money to have members?
