Imagine Arie's mother having that little conversation in English in front of Emily. That would have been just as inappropriate. It should have been reserved for private time. And Arie should have responded in English, thereby cutting it off. If my potential MIL did that to me, I would be hurt and pissed. Sends a message of exclusion.

You know what I cannot believe?? That anyone believes those previews!!! I'd bet a million bucks all HTD's went very well!!!

And the Arie family Dutch convo, I'm going to wait and see it in its entirety...that bad edit thing and all that TPTB make a habit of.

I am also going to wait and see what transpires with Arie's family as I can see the TPTB having a hand in this (Sean's was such a set up, joke). We have heard before from previous individuals who have been on the show that TPTB do have major input into how the HTD should play out (activities, conversations etc).

They could just have not agreed to do it. Or just not done it, what are tptb going to do? Pack up and move out - that would be interesting and hard for them to explain to Emily.

For some you'd think Peter or Cassie had a gun to Arie and his parents heads making them do this. If Arie is this easily lead astray why would Em want him anyway? I know it works out in the end and all is peaches and cream,but I hope in hindsight that Arie and his parents know how they made Em feel and they refrain from doing that to the next girl he brings home hoping to marry. There's no doubt in my mind now why he was let go at F3... Should have been F4, but she knew Chris was a little on edge, is how I think I'll put it. ; )

And I'd like to say here I don't have ONE thing against Arie. I can't say that I like him because I don't know him, but I DON'T dislike him. I can say however, I don't think he is the lid that fits Em's kettle. It seems like if you aren't crazy in love with him that you're viewed as not liking him. Sheesh!!

Bad editing or not, the conversation in Dutch went on for longer than I thought it would. If it's a joke I don't think Emily found it at all funny - she looked very uncomfortable. Thought somebody said his father translated. All I heard him say was "They're talking about you".

which of course put her even more in a comfortable position.

Me in emily's shoes and no cameras around? If the conversation took more than 5 min, I would have stand up and spend 10-15 min in the toilet and come back. If the message was not understood, then I would have probably open my bag and just play whatever I had inside, maybe my phone or an agenda or whatever....

I can understand that someone like the persona of a guy (the fans never met the guy so they are in love with an edited person on the screen right?), but he is not jesus. He is not perfect. His role was to make his guest comfortable and welcome. he failed. plain and simple. Is he a bad guy. no. He was just insensitive at that moment. Nobody is perfect and it is not because a fan will recognize that fact that he is evil. he is just human, like all of us.

I can't see where they felt they HAD to do this. Veg, say you had a daughter in Em's place would you have wanted some family to do her this way and please take your liking Arie out of the equation here while thinking about this..

I'm quite sure that all of the htd's went well after the fact. I'm sure Arie's family came off as loving and kind by the time it was all over. I still don't think it was right to make a guest feel uncomfortable. I really wish now I wasn't going away tomorrow for 5 days because I would like to see this all play out. Perhaps there's an explanation that I would find understandable maybe even cute. I guess I'll find out on Thursday when I get home and can watch it. At the end of the day - it really doesn't make a huge difference to me at all. I'm not Emily, I don't know how she thinks/feels and I wasn't there.

The reason i believed Seans room was real , because when my son lived at home it was a booby trap i almost broke my neck every time i went in to his room , my son did not want me to clean his room

i did it once and he got upset because he said he couldn' find anything ,
