Didn't they do this same thing when Andy Baldwin was going to be the Bachelor? If I remember correctly he was announced long before the season started.

I believe the women knew that Ben would be the next lead when they applied to be on the show as well.

They def. did with Andy, because I'm watching his season online now, and the women during the M&G are talking about how they have looked him up online and one knows that he is a doctor right out of the limo (and many are wearing flats with their dresses prob. because they knew he was a shorter guy too cute.)

I also remember on Jasons season, that one of the women named Shannon had looked him up online and was saying she wasn't a stalker

Yeah, I'd like to watch Andy's season because I think Tessa is the most beautiful bachelorette this show has ever had and I only watched their finale/atfr back when it aired.

I'm not sure ALL the guys on Emily's season knew she'd be the Bette when they applied, but surely they all knew it'd be her well before they left for filming. I'm thinking some of them may have applied last year for the Bette or Bachelor lead and they were filed away as a potential contestant and then offered a spot on Emily's season. That is what happened to Jason Mesnick, he's one of the few who admits he originally applied to be the lead but they put him on De's season first. (I think more do but they don't admit it.) It'd be great if every single one of them applied after they heard it would be Emily but that doesn't seem likely.

Correct, unlike Jen & Jason, even though Emily was announced ahead of time, she didn't have as much time for all the guys to apply solely to be on the show for her & go through all the pre-show weeding out. Emily took awhile to change her mind and finally sign on the dotted line and her season had an earlier filming/airing start. So, they most likely pulled some guys from the prior casting with Emily in mind for the season that ended up being Ashley's. Took a few of whatever new guys that applied when they found out the Bachelorette was Emily that they had time to screen. And the majority of the guys were guys that applied without knowing who the bachelorette was going to be. Once they signed Emily on the dotted line, or a little before, they probably threw her name out as a possibility to those guys and ruled out any guys that weren't into dating a single mother. The guys have had from the moment Emily was announced 'til they were due to report to Charlotte to research Emily online and even watch her on Brad's season.

Watching those seasons back then though.. i must say, Emily's group of guys are much much more good looking

Graham definitely wanted out .. But tptb weren't going to make it that easy and he was basically forced to return for the RC .. And he arrived very slovenly dressed

He also arrived with the letter in hand which indicates that he was leaving pre-decided. They made him attend the Rose Ceremony and let her reject him. They told her shortly before she entered the room. You can see it from the look on her face. She is angry even then.
He was dressed sloppily whereas he had always been a very natty, nicely dressed guy.
It was one of the most awesome ( in a bad way) RCs there has ever been. I don't think anybody who watched it has ever forgotten that one!
