Re: Doug Clerget - Bachelorette 8 Contestant - Thread #1
Doug had his 1st 1-1 in Bermuda, so this would have been his 2nd 1-1. If he did not want to kiss Emily, then their chemistry is off and he is not falling in love with her. By the 2nd 1-1 date feelings are supposed to be getting stronger and they are on the path to love. It is okay if Doug did not fall for Emily, but to say what he allegedly said leaves a bad taste for me. Not a very gallant and gentlemanly way to go about it. He allowed his hurt ego /pride get the best of him. Oh well....

He did not want to "make out" with her and she made a mistake. If he was not willing to "make out" with her by episode 7 then I don't blame her for sending him home. Next up is HTD and I would think he wasn't all that interested in me. I will be shocked if this is actually how it plays out, but if this is how it does go down then, as someone started above, he is not right for her.
@the bolded, that is indeed weird! lol
My interpretation of that quote was he thought Emily wanted him to make a move, like make out with her, but he did not and therefore was eliminated. I'm sure Emily had more reasons than just that to eliminate him though.

Okay, I see what you mean now. Thanks!

Now that makes sense! That wasn't the initial way I interpreted it, but makes perfect sense!

They do just keep happening to be at the right place at the right time, don't they?

if this is true then our most recent Bachelorettes really know how to play the game decently and respectfully: when the connection is not there, just push the buttons so the guys eliminate themselves thus the Bachelorettes do not have to do the breakup. Examples: Ashley pushing Mickey and Constantine to say things that needed to be said and then leave, and now Emily probably with Dough.

I agree...I think he wasn't making any kind of moves...being very slow in the opening up and she eliminated him.

Well at this point, they probably figured out which hotel the American film crew was using so they've just planted themselves in the lobby. So is Wetpaint following around Bachelor filming then, or are they being fed info...

I did not think Doug left on his own. From what I read I thought Emily eliminated Doug.

I like Emily as a lead, but i do not put her on a pedestal. The point is the connection is clearly not there, or why he didnot make out with her. That alone sends a certain signal, then buttons are pushed: he eliminated himself or her eliminating him=>same result. no love lost i think.
to be fair to Ashley, no love lost between her and Constantine or Mickey.
I think the show is more realistic that way: its about compatibility, not competition. So far Emily already had the model from Texas (what's his name) leaving on his own BUt you never know what you will see when the show is aired, they may not show guys leaving on their own to make Emily look bad. I suspect she will get a very nice edit.
In past seasons, there were contestants wanting to leave but not allowed to leave. They left without getting a rose.

I wouldn't be surprised if TP told all of these guys not to expect a lot of kissing and not to push it. Maybe he was trying to "respect" that, but when you get to a certain point in filming, you gotta kiss a little!

If Doug wasn't going to be F1 then I think it was best that Emily let him go before htd when families get involved. Think of the uproar if she took a single dad all the way to f2 and dumped him.
