That being said, I'd much prefer to have Arie as an ABC/ESPN Olympics commentator.
If Matt Lauer , Al Roker and Savannah Guthrie can do it, he can do it.
Olympics are on NBC and all the announcers have been set in stone for a long time. Plus Arie knows cars so I don't think he would be good commentator about something he knows nothing about. Maybe soccer.

Recently, I had the opportunity to attend the Baltimore auditions for "The Bachelor" & "The Bachelorette" and interview some of the people who were auditioning for one of the shows. I asked them about their motivations for auditioning, their thoughts on the application process, including the types of questions asked; and their thoughts on the idea of finding love on a reality show. The responses I got were both interesting and amusing.

I know he knows cars, but they'll be having Savannah, Matt and Al doing lots of Olympic coverage too and none of them have been elite athletes. They do the behind the scenes stuff . They had Savannah trying to run hurdles on the Today show with an Olympian.
Maybe Arie can do that sort of story as well as Savannah or Al? I think he could handle the chit chat with athletes after they won a medal. ESPN did do some Olympics coverage in 2010 when NBC had the US network rights. But apparently not very well.

Ha - let him do it for some Dutch tv morning show! That would work.

Thanks!
LOL at the lady who said they asked her if she had a restraining order filed against her, and while she said no, she felt like they wanted her to say yes.

I'm not too sure why US Weekly is still running with the Roberto as the next Bachelor story but in a blurb where it claims Emily called Roberto to encourage him to become the next Bach because her own experience was so good, the mag claims Roberto wants to make sure he's well compensated because everything about the show (media and otherwise) has become so intense lately.

Wasn't US the ones that said he wasn't at first?

Chris Harrison: Roberto Martinez Would Be a Great Bachelor, But Rumors Are “Overblown”

Dang it. It really did sound too early for Roberto Martinez to be confirmed as the Season 17 Bachelor, but we were hopeful. Maybe it will still happen, but it sounds like the door is wide open for someone else to hand out roses next winter. Host Chris Harrison talked to Celebuzz Wednesday night at the ESPY Awards and he addressed the rumor that Roberto had been chosen as the next Bachelor.
"He'd be a great Bachelor,” Chris says of The Bachelorette Season 6 alum. “He's a friend of mine so, I mean, I think he' a great guy. Obviously women think he's handsome, he's got charisma, charm, and all that. Yeah, he's definitely on the radar, but the rumors that it's a done deal or he's our guy — definitely overblown. He's not. But I'm guessing he's on the list. I'd like him on the list. He's a golfing buddy so if I can have a golfing buddy on The Bachelor, why not?"
Eek. Chris was also asked if there’s any chance they’ll go back to casting “fresh faces” like so many of the deadly dull past Bachelors before they launched the current recycling trend.
"There's a heavy, heavy case to be made for using someone who has already been in the franchise,” Chris tells Celebuzz. “It's a great built-in story. You're already emotionally invested — and that’s one of the hardest things to do in launching a show, is to get you to care. [...] But, again, just like I push for live I'm always pushing to find just somebody out there. But you have to find the right person. You can't do it just for doing its sake. You have to find the right person. It has to make sense."
So if they can’t find “the right person” to be a fresh face for Season 17, expect either Roberto or someone from Emily Maynard’s current season of The Bachelorette, specifically Sean Lowe or whoever Emily rejects at the final rose ceremony.

I am not surprised by the Wetpaint article that includes Chris Harrison's comments. The negativity and loss of privacy that are associated with being a lead Bachelor isn't worth it. Fans had started making a mockery of Roberto's ethnicity. Just isn't worth it! Proud, proud, proud of Roberto.
Love him!
Roberto's tweet says it all:

Wow, so sad to hear that. While I am not his biggest fan, I think he is a stand up guy and see the attraction a lot of folks would have for him. My heart aches for about the bigotry we still have in this world.

Thank you! I sure will pass it on. It is better on me too that he turned down the offer. It would have made me crazy reading the negative comments. Can't get around the negative comments though. No one is excluded. Roberto will meet him a lovely woman one day. He is just a regular guy who is a hard worker, happy, and enjoying life. He certainly doesn't need Mike Fleiss picking out his future wife for him.

He's a lovely man inside and out. You can just see his sweet soul in that smile and by his thoughts.
I hate the commentary that he is being subjected to due to the rumors or the myopic perceptions of narrow minds.
