Mr. Date and Dash – he came off smarmy and wanting to get to know Ashley… for about 2-3 months. Good God, she may as well, just pack it in and call it a day. Frankly, I hope she didn’t choose him.

Just rewatched the date. He seems like a really sweet guy and really into her. I loved when she said that she could not believe that he was single. I still don't know what to make of that date whether or not she is really into him. I am not sure I would take RS word on the F1. There is so much going on here it is way too confusing. It all seems to be falling into what tptb want. Anyway, JP is adorkable and the two look like such a nice pair.

I'm not sure where people were talking about JP and his lengthy singledom (read it earlier this morning somewhere on the board) so I'll just post my thoughts in his thread.

That made me pause too. I think he said he was single from 22 to 30 with a series of 2-3 month relationships in there. Then he dated a woman for 2.5 years and now he's 34. OK. Not ideal, but at 34 he might be itching to settle down, especially if he wants kids. He said in his intro video he's ready. I have single male friends who realize they're not getting any younger when they hit ~35. Anyway, it is what it is.

But it made me think this could be a big reason why Ashley holds back a bit this early, she's worried he'll spend a few months with her and check out. She'll need to spend more time with him to get a better read on his sincerity and how compatible they actually are. If I were the Bette it'd make me take a step back and consider whether he's in the game just to win or be the next Bachelor. Remember, he sorta fumbled a bit when she asked him why he was there.

I still adore the guy and I want him if Ashley chose someone else (hey why not, 2-3 months of him would be fun), but I can understand why his dating history gave her pause (if it did, and I think it did).

Unfortunately I find that a lot of guys are like JP - especially living in NYC. Why should they settle down until they are ready when they have NYC as their playground??? I have gone round and round with someone who is 34 years old, he is handsome, successful, charming - but just not ready to settle down quite yet. If he went on the Bachelorette - he would be saying the same things. Lots of short term relationships and dated many women in his 20s and had a few long term relationships mixed in there. Yet, I have no doubt that one day soon it will click for him and play time will be over and he'll want to settle down with someone and have a family. Maybe that has now clicked for JP.

Well said. I don't think it's weird he's been single for so long either. It would be weird if he played a bunch of women or had an 8 year long drama-filled on and off again thing but if he was just dating around and never fell in love? I think it's fine. He's either met his match on the show or now that he's everyone's favorite guy, he'll meet her soon.
