Its out. It is Brooke.

Channel 10 has named the next Bachelorette and not only will she be the first openly bisexual star of the show, she’ll also be the first Indigenous suitress.
26-year-old youth worker Brooke Blurton, who was a contestant on The Bachelor in 2018 and later appeared on Bachelor In Paradise, will grace our screens as Australia’s next Bachelorette.

Casting for the show is now open and given Brooke is bisexual, both men and women are being invited to apply.

So excited about Brooke! I know we talked about it a while ago the possibility of having her as bachette and having boys and girls dating her! I would love to see that! I wonder if they will? I hope so! Can't wait

Wonder if Renee turned it down, or if tptb really wanted to push the LGBT angle as well as the 'finally, a POC lead' thing. They're ticking a lot of boxes with Brooke! And I do think she's a genuinely good choice, it's not just token - but 10 have to know they're really on a winner with her. A popular choice with everyone, really. Even the US-based Reddit is full of praise for the choice.

Not a fan. Personally think it is a disaster in the making, but I guess we will wait and see.

I'm totally anticipating there being at least one couple forming among the contestants, and I'm 100% sure tptb are counting on it, to the point they'll manufacture or encourage it if it doesn't happen organically. It's what they're going to want, it's the perfect reality TV drama.

I am a bit the same.  I don't dislike Brooke, she is absolutely gorgeous, but her personality is not the most effervescent.  Hopefully her conversation skills have improved since the Badger's season.  It's not going to work ticking diversity boxes if the lead cannot carry the show imo.

I am of the same opinion. Brooke might be attractive but she is boring and I am calling it she will be a terrible lead. Also she said on radio she likes the brawny, physically attractive type so what will the selection of women be?

So far Ch10 has gone overboard with diversity. They pushed it too far. Masterchef Australia is an example. For some unknown reasons they picked contestants with Asian background. Even those that do not look Asian either have a grandmother or grandfather who is Asian.

Hopefully they dont overplayed this diversity issue. I am worried for Brooke. If she likes a 'white's man and not the other diverse bachelors, will the Twitter world turn on her?

@enough given 12% the population were born in Asia and the figure is closer to 20% when counting those of Asian descendant I dont think it is that strange. The contestants on these shows seem to always be almost 90% white when no one growing up in Australia has had that experience of the people around them.

Also given this is the first LGBTQI lead and the first Indigenous lead I can't see how that is overboard. If anything they were going way overboard with the continuous Caucasian leads no?

I think it’s about bloody time we have a bisexual lead...I am so surprised it hasn’t happened yet. Anyway looking forward to Brooke finding love and to finding out about these contestants! I believe she is filming in September-October correct?? Damn if i was 5yrs younger and free I would apply Lol
