Bachelorette 16 - Clare Crawley & Tayshia Adams - Dec 8 - *Sleuthing Spoilers*

I only watched about half to two-thirds of the show last night, so I'll comment on what I did see. (Note to self -- if I fire up my gas fireplace, the toasty warmth *will* send me to dreamland. )

The 2-on-1: Noah was not wrong that Bennett thinks himself above others. He also made a valid observation that if Bennett is that way with him, he could also potentially be that way with Tayshia. But having said that, Noah is still the house tattle, and if it were up to me, I would have sent him home instead. My favorite line of the night was when Tayshia came back after sending Bennett home, and told Noah sternly, "*Don't* smile."

Ben's 1-on-1: First, can I just say that was the perfect date? I loved everything about it from the scooters, to the jaunt in the fountain, to the pinatas. It goes to show that a date doesn't need to be fancy to be fun. As for Ben, what a sweetie pie. It's easy to see why he went so far in the season. I'm not sure if he has a strong enough personality to be a potential lead, but I love everything about him.

The group date: The lie detector test was too funny. Yes, there was absolutely nothing authentic about it, and the producers were hitting the green, orange, and red lights.

The discussion of hometowns in "the house" -- I noticed that both Zac and Brendan looked distinctly uncomfortable at the mention of a parental meet and greet. I understand that Tayshia later had an awesome conversation with Zac, but I didn't see it. I did see the expression on his face at the thought of progressing things further when he was with the other guys. IMO at least for those few moments, he wasn't feeling it, and neither was Brendan.

You missed the best part, the awesome conversation with Zac, she told him unfaithfulness was a deal-breaker for her then he explained the lie detector answer saying he was unfaithful to a 6th grade girlfriend, then Tayshia told Zac she loved him!!!

I had goosebumps reading this. I bow down to you for supporting your son through those darkest days. And what joy you have now! Life is beautiful. Humbled by the love you have in your life.

I so enjoyed last night's episode, after the Bennett-Noah part was over. Seeing Zac so emotional was touching. He is where he is today due to his family's love for him. The date with Ben was cute - I'd like a date like that! Hearing his story was sad - a family, IMO, should be where you are accepted as you are, with lots of love to make improvements when you come up short. To be raised in a family where perfection was the goal - hmmm. Red flag to me. This show is going to do wonders for Ben's self-esteem. It's all out there, he can go forward an live an authentic and hopefully happy life.

The lie detector test was fun. But what triggers! Laughed so hard at Zac's 6th grade cheating story! His admission that he wanted a more intimate setting share how he felt about her shows how self-aware he is. And that kiss at the end of their one-on-one - wowza! Game over for the other guys.

Tayshia was so great with Riley. It's go to be so therapeutic for them to share their secrets. I always say "let the sun shine in". He is going to go home fully prepared to find his person. Open, honest and very loving. Hope we can hear how he's doing post-show.

Bennett ... for all his talk about emotional intelligence and it's four pillars, it's Tayshia that shows she has it in spades. She should become a therapist - the men trust her so much with their deepest feelings, not feeling judged but accepted for whom they are. That is a gift she's giving them. They'll be talking about Tayshia for a long, long time - she's that good of a bachelorette.

Funny moments - Noah eating a handful of breath mints right after Bennett being walked out. No doubt, in his mind, to have a nice big smooch with Tayshia. And she puts him in his place! And then the bookend moment to that when Bennett tries to kiss her after his 'surprise' return, and she tells him "Not so fast". This is exactly the type of woman Bennett needs in his life - just not Tayshia!

Ratings:

ABC (3.900 million viewers, #4; adults 18-49: 0.9, #2) had to settle for second with its duo of "The Bachelorette" (4.122 million viewers, #6; adults 18-49: 1.1, #2) and "Big Sky" (3.456 million viewers, #7; adults 18-49: 0.5, #T6).
