I'm just watching tonight's episode now. I hope Paige gets some counseling.

Completely agree! There was a point toward the end of the episode where I thought she was wavering about ending it with him.

I am just blown away with how the "experts" chose Chris. Do they not do in depth background checks?

I don't understand Pastor Cal at all -- he should not have advocated for Chris and Paige to stay together for one minute. I am not particularly happy with the experts. JMO.

I felt Pastor Cal really was negligent in caring for Paige and don't understand why he left he with him. Just unconscionable in my opinion.

I came across an interview on YouTube that Pastor Cal gave before the start of the current season.  Most of the interview is about the show in general and past couples, but near the end (around 29.02) he says that he is very excited about the new season about to start, he says "It has everything a good movie has.  It has drama, comedy, suspense and horror." The interviewer said "Horror?" and he repeated "Horror!" He seemed quite happy about it.  He went on to say that he can say for certain that every person this season was there for the right reason, "they were all there to find love," but he didn't mention love or romance as part of his "good movie."

Considering what took place, the comments just seemed off to me.

Something else that I came across and thought was interesting was on the Altar Call Podcast, in their Feb. 4 review of episode 4

https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/altar-call-a-married-at-first-sight-podcast/id1522401890 (comments at beginning of podcast)

The two women who do the podcast said that they had received a message from Erik's groomsman, Jim. Apparently, in an earlier podcast they had commented on the toast he gave at Erik and Virginia's reception, and from this toast had concluded that Erik's mother would be trouble. If you recall, in the toast he gave a glowing tribute to Erik's father, and then said something like "his mother, Donna... well you'll just have to figure that out." In Jim's message to Altar Call, he said that toast was completely chopped up and edited to sound like the opposite of what he actually said. The nice words we heard him say about the father were actually what he said about the mother. The comment "you'll just have to figure that out," was actually said in a different part of the toast that had nothing to do with the parents. He said he felt terrible that the viewers were given the wrong impression about the mother, Donna, because she's one of the best people he has ever known and is like a 2nd mom to him.

I just thought that is was an interesting example of the creative editing they do, and it makes me wonder what else we are seeing that is manufactured.

VERY interesting post and thank you for the information. Guess they could be taking a "heck with love--let's go for drama" page out of The Bach/Bach'ette playbook.

It sounds like the focus is not on love at all anymore. That is disappointing to me.

So wow. What a change from last season. Just when I was getting used to really loving at least one couple! Wham!!

Chris and Paige. TRAIN WRECK. I mean, Chris is without a doubt the most vile human being I’ve encountered. Slick, sleezy, manipulative, inappropriate, gross, cruel, etc, etc. OMG. I can NOT STAND HIM. Skin crawl, creepy guy. BAD NEWS. How he got through any type of screening process is just BEYOND ME. Why didn’t anybody’s CREEP METER go off the rails? And poor Paige. But you know what? If he tosssed out the bait, I bet she’d go running right back! WHY?? Ugh!

Jacob & Haley - Another BAD match. I mean seriously? NOBODY NOTICED? Like after talking to this guy for 3 minutes that he is TOTALLY WEIRD? Come on “experts”! I’m sitting on my bed in Iowa listening to this guy talk feeling REALLY UNCOMFORTABLE, like, “OMG! Make it STOP!” And Hayley. I don’t know. Did she lie? It very well could have started off as going to be the girls. Maybe not. MAYBE she just wanted to get rid of the guy for a couple hours and didn’t want to hurt his feelings. But for him to go off like he did accusing her of having a boyfriend and the rest of his paranoid psycho babble, uh...no. I’d shut down and check out too. YUCK.

Clara & Ryan - Like them both. Normal, nice people. Looks like they have a good shot.

Brianna & Vincent - Like them both too. Normal, nice people. They’ll have a few bumps. But they can work through it, because they seem NORMAL.

Virginia & Eric - Hmm...I like them. Nice couple. But man...why did this chick want to get married when she wants to party all weekend with her single friends and crash on her single guy friend’s couch and expect her husband to be fine with it? She needs to get her priorities straight & back off the booze. Or she’s going to lose a really nice guy. I’m in a “wait & see” mode on this one.

Doats,
I have noticed the creative editing from almost the beginning of the show. They either toss out these “teasers” in the advertisements that turn out to be something else completely. Or like what you just described. They play out a situation with a bunch of patched together clips. We hear about it later through SM, Couple’s Cam or that show Jamie Otis does. I don’t get it. The draw for the show isn’t all the drama.
