Bachelorette New Zealand - Season 1 - Dr Lesina Nakhid-Schuster - Lily McManus - Episodes - *Sleuthing Spoilers *

Ohh... tomorrow looks good. Marc is being a bit of a twat and gets his just desserts.

Lily...picks Jesse because he surprised her.

Lesina...picks Kurt...hmmm...not because his was the best. Off they go for some cake and hot chocolate. He likes cream on his drink. He is raving about her smile and she grills him why he was here. He says his 7 year relationship ended with her cheating. He needed time on his own. She says they talked about the same things...his weight loss and relationship. She thinks they don't have the banter she has with the other guys. Hmmm...

Lily and Jesse meanwhile are much more relaxed. She asks if he knew how to bake, but he says no he tried to copy a cake that his mom makes for him. They discuss desserts.

Lesina asks what is important for Kurt when dating...he wants someone to share things with. Attraction is important, but not just the physical. There needs to be more. He is clearly nervous. She says she always asks this kind of stuff when trying to figure out who to date. I hope she isn't always this in their face in real life.

Jesse got a rose, but Kurt didn't. Marc is full of himself because he has a rose and looks like he will be rubbing it in the guys faces. No RC. I do not like these to be continued episodes. I get enough of them on the US Bachelor.

The bolded is what I find frustrating about Lesina - almost like making a differential diagnosis - go down the check list until you get to the point where you eliminate suspect or think maybe there is still more to uncover. I know this is how the show works but she is so obvious! Granted I haven't yet watched the episode - just responding to Sprite. I am very curious how the 2 B'ettes are going to work out. Open minded - not anticipating it's going to take away anything from Lesina, who is a lovely person. But have to say I'm ready for some Lily fun!

I found it particularly jarring during these two dates. Lily was shown as very laid back with light banter with Jesse. Not much substance in their chat, while Lesina was right in Kurt's face and was all about substance. They were missing the banter, but I think that is more due to her because of the way she approached the topics she wanted to cover. Naturally it could be the editing and they are trying to emphasize the differences between the two bettes, but it could also just be her and how she approaches things. I know they don't usually get much time so she may want to get to the important bits, but I wish she would be a little more laid back. I swear I think she scared Kurt!

I am also not liking the format of switching back and forth between the bettes. I don't feel like I am getting much time with either one and it is hard to keep track of the conversations. They are going for the broad strokes and it's hard to notice the subtleties. I am finding it distracting and feel as if I am getting whiplash.

Back to the alpha male definition...he makes it seem as if he is more the father figure...but she still has reservations about the stupid alpha male thing. She gives him a rose. He says she is all over him.

Back at the mansion the guys are complaining about being date less and go wash the cars...shirtless, bikinis and sexy shimming....all very suggestive...until Marc comes back bragging that he was unsure how the date went but then after the kissing she gave him a rose.

Aaron wasn't too keen to hear all that. Some others weren't thrilled either...more about not getting any attention rather than jealousy.

Back to Lily and Terrence. She doesn't want to ask any hard hitting questions, just wants a more natural conversation. She asks how he got on the show...his sister signed him up. He wants to get his diver license and travel...she thinks they are similar.

His last girlfriend was about 5 years ago. He is so not at the same stage as Lesina. Lily gives him a rose and a little peck on the cheek. He thinks it was a dream date. I'm not sure about Lily.

                                 

Thank you "Sprite" for your posts.  It sure helps me understand better what is going on- I miss much because there are "no captions". Does anyone know how close to each other Aaron and Lesina live? He seems to have some of the qualities she said she was looking for but  they are both established in where they work. He as a teacher (?) and her a doctor. I have notice long distance relationships put a lot of pressure on new relationships. IMO it is not looking to good for Kurt and I thought he would be one of the last men standing- for Lesina. What about Logan, Tavita or Steve? They are closer to Lesina's age.

@just me I think Aaron lives and teaches in Hamilton, which is if I remember about 2 hours from Auckland where Lesina lives, so it could work.
I think Kurt will still make it far, just editing to make us feel for him.
As for Tavita and Steve, IMO neither. Steves IG looks like hes party boy, not career driven. Tavitas IG is all shots of him posing with shirt off, and being on TV before just makes me think he's in it for fame.

Re: the bold, I haven't watched this ep yet but from what she's said previously, IMO Lesina wants a man she can dominate or "mother".  She told Tavita she usually chooses submissive types and Kurt does seem very boyish.  Since I started following him he's posted IG stories of things like Pokemon badges and sneakers.  So if Kurt looked scared that might have been a turn on for her.  

@Jordan44  Thank you. I see that Logan and Kurt both live in Auckland where Lesina is. Aaron said in the beginning, if I heard right, that empathy was a quality he admired in a woman and she seemed really impressed by that. Also, Aaron said he was confident in himself which was something she wanted in a man. She liked Marc's boldness but his bragging could get old real fast and cause trouble. She said she wanted someone with the qualities of her father, right? Could not hear what those were.

Episode 5

Marc and Lesina's SD

Milking cows, feeding pigs and strolling with sheep - it doesn't get much more wholesome than this in the Bach world.  





Cheeky camera man - I see what you did there.  



Meanwhile Lily and Terence are mirroring each other's body language on at date at the speedboat course.  



Terence wants a kiss if he beats Lily's time.  I like these two together, but he'd be too high-energy for her IRL, IMO.



Back at the farm, Marc gets the first kiss of the season.  Lesina doesn't seem overly comfortable kissing on screen IMO.



Lesina asks Marc if he's an Alpha male, then challenges him about his definition of Alpha.  Hmmm, a bit condescending IMO.

Meanwhile the other boys are so bored they resort to washing Suzukis in their undies.  Gotta keep those sponsors happy.









Quinn has a segment which seems to have been shot later; possibly foreshadowing Quinn's storyline is about to kick off.

Defensive body language suggests to me he does not want to be giving this interview.  

Lily and Terence eat a fancy dinner.  She gets the impression he's "the kind of guy that could just pick up his sh!t and move to Puerto Rico tomorrow", and she likes it.



Lily is really good at this bit IMO and seems genuinely interested in hearing what Terence has to say.  He gets a rose but no kiss and she isn't attracted to him, IMO.

Baking Group Date

This date was clearly designed for Lesina to get Kurt alone, IMO.  Quinn's cake is pretty good but IMO it's his face Lily wants to eat.



Conor's cake is by far the best ...



... which must have really pissed TPTB off because that's not what they wrote in the script, but they just let Lesina pick Kurt anyway.



He speaks to camera and this also looks like it could have been shot much later IMO.  His whole face lights up as he talks about Lesina.



Lesina BOMBARDS him with questions.  Mmmmm yeah she would definitely wear the pants in this relationship.  I kinda feel for Kurt TBH.



Lily chooses Jesse and mentions the haematoma she got from her car accident so the filming schedule was exactly as we sleuthed it.  Good chat - he'll go far IMO.



Lesina speaks in front of a completely new background which doesn't look like Te hi hi or Argentina so could have been filmed post-FRC IMO.  I'll be watching for more of this one going forward.



Kurt talks about wanting to have kids and carry on his family name and, from the look on Lesina's face, this chat went way better than they want us to believe IMO.



He's still F1 for me.  



Preview for tonight shows Aaron in his kissing hat and suit combo from the season preview.



I suspect Lesina will be more relaxed about kissing him than she was about kissing Marc.

Cocktail party and the girls look fabulous - they must have upped the budget this season.

Ha ha - Glen is trying to get Lily’s attention and she ignores him a at first.

The background music while Lily and Glen are talking is killing me! Totally fits the tone of the conversation.
