Bachelor Australia - Matt Agnew - Season 7 - Episodes #2 - *Sleuthing Spoilers*

Episode 14, Part B

Next up we have Emma and I'm pleased to see they tone down her Clinger edit in the flashbacks and present her as OTT but the right side of crazy.  

We FINALLY get to see Emma's dogs and Matt pretends he's meeting them for this first time even though we know he met them night 1.  

There are SO many inconsistencies with Emma's dogs.  We have this from the promo:



Which matches this shirt she's wearing talking to camera:



But neither her nor Matt's outfits match what they are wearing at the dog park:  



Although they DO match what they're wearing in the car.



So clearly filmed different days IMO but WHHHYYY.

Later, Imma's bist frind Jen (who I assume is a Kiwi) tells us she jist wants Imma to find hippiness.  Her other friend Daniel is apparently a Michael Fassbender impersonator.

Jen asks Matt how he's feeling about Imma and Matt cleverly avoids the question by saying he's "very aware of where Emma's at" and he "can't say much more".

Emma is of course in falling in love with Matt and tells him so.  He doesn't even kiss her or if he did they cut it out.  He retreats into the shrubbery and is gone.



Helena's HTD is next and after weeks of giving them very little material to work with, TPTBs investment in the Mauritian is about to pay off BIGTIME.  Cue the drama.

To establish that Matt's One Great Guy the stylist slips him into a virginal white t-shirt and wholesome knitted cardigan.  How can he NOT be a great guy in that outfit.

Not to be outdone, Helena appears wearing head to toe tennis whites.  Wholesome AND fit.  As if that's not random enough, they then... don't play tennis, and drink Pimms instead.

Helena calls her Dad "Papa" and I immediately picture her in one of those straw hats Madeline wears in the cartoon of the same name.  Helena sees her family and falls to bits, bless her.

Helena proceeds to cry for the rest of the evening.  Her sister asks her how's it going, she cries.  Matt forgets that they spoke French on the red carpet, she cries. She can't.  She can't do this.

A lot of people will just see Helena as a Princess who's throwing a tantrum over not getting her own way and not being made to feel special enough but I think there's more to it than that.

Helena says she and her sister often find reasons to tell each other to end relationships.  It sounds like no one is ever good enough for the other and I wonder how productive that is.  

Helena's done and Matt is reduced to a disembodied pair of pants, alone in the darkness.



I agree with what was said upthread - Matt would be happy to leave it at that IMO but OH NO TPTB are not done yet.  There are still 17 minutes of this episode left and she's not getting off that easy.

Matt is sent back in to restore Helena in his harem.  It's not clear how long they were sitting on that couch but apparently long enough for Helena to have her makeup fixed and hair fully restyled.

She's back on board.  They kiss and it looks IMO far more real than when he kissed Abbie.  Then she changes her mind again.  And back again.    I think does like Matt but just can't handle the process.  

Rose ceremony and all four ducks are in a row.

I actually think it's good he didn't send Helena home at this RC.  She came back to Syd so deserves a little something for her troubles.  Either leave her in Perth or take her to the next stage, IMO.

Helena takes Matt aside to chat and Emma accuses her of hijacking to try and change his mind!  MEOW.  This is a new side to Emma we haven't seen before and it's not a good look.  

Emma goes.  She'll probably blame Helena but his mind was already made up IMO.

This weeks insider guide explains the inconsistencies in Emma and Matt's clothes on their date. They washed the dogs at the dog park and got saturated. They must have changed into their evening clothes after that, before they had the picnic. Edit to add: Matt ended up shirtless at the dog park.

On an aside... Chelsie and Matt discussing the books they brought into the house and Chelsie saying she is going to come out of the house dumber because she's just been watching youtube is really cute. You can see more of their dynamic with that conversation, they are very much on the same level, neither of them dominating. JMO of course.

A lot of people are slamming Helena for being upset at Matt for forgetting her French but I actually agree with her. Do we really think he wouldn't remember Chelsie's oxytocin thing? He 'made' Emma a wooden depiction of the soundwaves of her quote for crying out loud. If he really likes her it is odd that he wouldn't remember her 'thing.'

Totally agree with this @Vjeff if she was "the one" he would totally remember her red carpet thing

So disclaimer, totally shipping Chelsie here, but has anyone mentioned Matts nodding to Chelsie at the end of their hometown date? He's nodding away as she tries to say ILY. Clearly trying to let her know its ok. Said a lot to me. Also knowing what he knows about her previous relationships, and after the chat with Chelsie's sister he would not be encouraging her to open up like that if he was going to dump her. JMO!

On this note, does anyone else think it was a really cruel move convincing Helena to fly five hours back to Sydney when he knew he wasn't going to pick her in the end? He had seen how fragile she is. Unless he still really didn't know who he was going to pick - if I were Chelsie watching that it would make me more insecure than the Abbie thing.

@Vjeff I do think Helena was closer to being F1 than Abbie ever was but IMO the producers probably had more to do with her return to Sydney than Matt did.

I expect they reminded her of her contractual obligations and encouraged her to focus on other positives that could come out of the show, i.e. promotional opportunities.  

She's been criticised for approaching companies so quickly post-show but in context I can see why she was doing it - trying to make lemonade out of lemons IMO.

@bobette I agree. I suspect that tptb were completely behind her returning. Matt was quite willing to let her go. I agree too that they would have been in her ear about extending her opportunities. That said - for a wellness coach she’s not instilling any confidence in me to use her services at the moment

They just kept on concentrating on her past relationships!!

I've noticed when he kisses Chelsie he always has his hand up near her neck or the back of her head as if he wants to be as close as possible. I haven't noticed him doing it with anyone else? I will have to look back through all of his 100 kisses to be certain.
