DWTS Season 27 - Episodes - Discussions - *SPOILERS*

Yep, Joe is really up against a lot of what I consider "ringers" this season. He will probably always have the lowest score and there will be outrage if he lasts longer than some of the other contestants that don't have the voters he has. Honestly, I can see the judges start low balling his score in a week or 2 if he is still around just to get him out.

The PureDWTS webpage keeps harping on the fact that contestants with a large SM following do not always get the votes you would think. This season they even feel that Joe will be around a few more weeks just because of BN votes.

As for me, so far tonight my favorite dance was Evanna and Keo's. Joe did much better but unless someone falls down, he will have the lowest score since Bobby was who I felt might score in the teens like Joe but didn't.

@Doats ITA it's not fair at all. He looked like a professional.

Joe is safe for another week.

I'm so rooting for Joe. This show can't have it both ways. I get, that they'll need celebs with a mixture of dance experience. BUT if they cast total duds, like Joe, who really have no experience performing, dancing, anything at all, they can't compare them to the professional dancers they also cast. So, people will be upset, that Joe is sticking around. Tough. I like seeing him improve, open up, and learn. And he does that every week. The judges aren't fooling anyone, telling Joe that he's improving, but keeping the scores the same.

LOL It's always made me want to try/act like I could dance it, too. I love the moves in it and I think one of my fav one was Mel B's and Maks' dance of it, but then I love all there is about Maks. So glad Joe got through and I could tell he's improving. I can imagine how good it makes him feel when all those people stand up for him. He's never had people do that for him before. I loved seeing the part of him and his sweetie..

Well there's no doubt that Joe is one of the weaker dancers left this season now that Nancy is out, but he is adorable and giving it his all so I hope he hangs in there for a few more weeks. Watching Joe is like watching myself if I was ever on this show. No dance or "musicality" or even entertainer/performer experience but they offered the spot to him so treat him like the invited participant he is. Judging on pure dancing Nancy was a solid choice to go so no upset there. Mary Lou is over scored IMO. As Len said her hands are lovely but he neglected to mention her clumsy feet. She really lacks rhythm. There are a lot of ringers this season with too much dance and performing experience. Reminds me why I stopped watching this show.

The other thing that is so unfair in these later seasons is the amount of different dances being performed each week. How can you compare a VW to contemporary or samba or rumba or jive or waltz or Argentine Tango? In fact, how can any of the ballroom dances be compared to contemporary? There are not a lot of rules to follow as far as I know for a contemporary.

IMO, that is why Bobby got the higher scores last night. He had a contemporary. He hasn't fared that great in the actual ballroom dances he has done.

Now to next week's dances. Jordan (model Jordan) had an IG story last night where he announced he would be the trio partner for Joe next week. I honestly couldn't believe it but apparently it is true! Here is the list of contestants and partners with dance if noted (as published by www.puredwts.com)

DeMarcus & Lindsay: paso doble with Rashad Jennings
Alexis & Alan: no dance noted with Maddie Ziegler

Besides Jordan, Scarlett Byrne is another non DWTS participant. Evidently she is an actress from the Harry Potter series. And, Maddie Ziegler is a dancer from the show Dance Moms who has also not been on DWTS.

I'm actually looking forward to seeing DeMarcus & Rashad with Lindsay. John & Joey with Emma could be quite entertaining as well.

What - pairing Joe with Jordan from The Bachelorette? Guess they really want the fan vote! If TPTB thought Joe was a contender, they would have given him a very popular former contestant as a third partner!

Someone on reddit had an interesting observation about this pairing.  It does seem strange putting him with a non-DWTS person but it could very much work in his favor.  Who helped Joe open up on BIP? Jordan. Joe is so very relaxed around Jordan. And, who has more confidence than Jordan!  Jordan could very well bring out more confidence in Joe as well as keeping him calm.  Someone with more dance experience than Joe may just intimidate him whereas Jordan could actually help him.  

After posting this I read on reddit that they will be performing the salsa. PureDWTS does not have that information yet so not sure if it is true or not.  If it is the salsa, Joe is going to need to loosen up a lot!!!

I found this trio from the past that was a salsa (although it was 2 female, 1 male)


Hopefully Jenna can choreograph something fun for them.

Edited to add that I also read that TPTB for DWTS let the teams choose who to have as their third instead of assigning someone to them. That is why there are non-DWTS people performing. Evidently Joe wanted Jordan and Jordan is willing to do it.

They can be quite opinionated at times but it appears they do know a thing or 2 about professional dancing. FWIW, they are not fans of TB contestants being on the show at all.

The weekly numbers posts are very informative. This past week they predicted Nancy to go in that post from all their number crunching... And, right they were.

LoveDovez, please know that I was using the word "gliding" very loosely. Since I am scheduled for knee replacement surgery next week shuffling and hopping on one foot would be more descriptive of my movements.

I wouldn't be surprised if DWTS's isn't using Joe a bit for viewers and ratings, and bringing in Jordan is pure gold strategy.  I have no idea how the viewer rates have been for DWTS's as I stopped watching seasons ago but here I am watching now due to Joe and you can bet I will tune in for a Joe and Jordan team up!  I'm sure I'm not alone as BN seems to be on board this season too. Wonder if Jordan will whip out the gold shorts?

Maddie is very popular with the younger teen and young adult viewers. I actually thought it unfair when Maddie announced pre-vote that she would be in the Alexis trio if Alexis made it through to next week as it probably bumped up her voters. Also, Maddie's very dance experienced little sis is in DWTS Junior.
