Garrett Yrigoyen - *Sleuthing Spoilers*

I think Becca is who she says she is. Someone who is apathetic and able to flip flop around, doesn’t post IG pics flipping of the pres, actively going to marches, holding signs advocating for woman’s reproductive rights, or tweeting support of the LGTB community. She did all of this, and kept all of this content up even after her involvement in The Bachelor. Most contestants whitewash their political opinions and beliefs and are presented as apolitical. She chose not to do that, so that represents some level of activism and passion within her to me. 

Whether she compromises that, changes her views and pulls a Catherine or whatever, idk. That’s future, and that’s on her.

Golly, some of those likes are disturbing. Becca's people interview makes it sound like she knows that is who Garrett is and she is OK with it. So maybe we all need to have an open mind and be OK with it too. ( What the heck?!)

I don't think she's apathetic and someone who flip flops, exactly...I just think she's the Danielle M brand of " IG feminist", someone who thinks it's cool and in-style to be a strong, independent liberal woman and to post funny IG pics and make snarky posters for marches. It doesn't really take much effort, it doesn't really have much impact, and most people expect celebrities to be liberals so as long as they keep it vague, they don't get much criticism for it. I would give her more credit if she ever got real pushback for her views and still kept at it, showed support for anything controversial (feminism and gay rights are definitely the more mainstream and fairly accepted liberal agendas) or if she went head to head with someone about her views, like Lauren B did about gun laws and the Muslim Ban or Rachel did about race relationships in this country or Jubilee did about transgender people in the military or Ashley Spivey does about, well, everything. And, I like Becca and I think that she's probably a kind, accepting person who isn't really filled with hate or a superiority complex. I also just don't think she cares too much. Any person who did would never, ever say what she did. Or have picked Garrett in the first place (even without knowing about the social media activity). IMO.

We don’t know what kind of discussion that Becca had with Garrett nor if her feelings for him have changed. I don’t see her as someone who wouldn’t at least try to see if they can work out their differences. It’s doubtful she’s going to share that at this point. I’m going to give her some space and continue to watch the show without judgment at this time. That stands for the other guys also. I’m trying not to let things I've heard influence me but that’s not always easy. I totally get why others don’t feel the same way.

I'm still watching and rooting for Becca. But my concerns about Garrett go far beyond, he's not my favorite. I've been tough on JP because of his hair for example, jeez. Compared to what I criticized other leads for, G is beyond the beyond.
I'm going so far as to say I hope Becca thinks long and hard and takes good counsel from her mom, sister, Uncle Gary and good friends back home. As Kasha always says, the producers are not your friend.
IMO, I feel as if Becca is caught up in the whirlwind of the show, she's in love with love. I can't understand how guys she seems so taken with have not been able to intrigue her as G has. I could get onboard with some that think he came on for followers or whatever. I have to wonder how this guy who does not like liberals etc. came for Becca....or maybe he didn't.
I just see a lot of hurt down the road with him. Again I say run, Becca, run. You have your whole life ahead of you. You have choices. Let your head clear of the fantasy and assess just what you have gotten in this bargain.

@Aria I get what you are saying, but that’s just not how I see it. I think this is a case of progressive girl meets alt right guy, in the bubble, on camera, where these issues aren’t discussed. There is more to these people then what they like/think socially and politically... and they fell in bubble love. Modern day Romeo and Juliet, right there     KIDDING.

But the point being, Becca and Garrett had eight weeks, a handful of dates, all mostly on camera. And whoops, they are engaged to someone that they really don’t know. Now Becca is in a place where she loves the guy, wants this to work for her, wants to think the best of him... and she’s just in a tough place all around. I don’t envy her at all. 

I just don’t see her as someone who isn’t passionate or aware of social issues, or someone who is a camelian about her views. Not with what she has presented about herself up to now. Not with who her best friends are. No way. 

If nothing else, they are an interesting Bachelor couple, and I’m curious to see how they play out. I don’t think this is going away. The deeper we get in the season, with Garrett the obvious front runner getting closer to the end, the more relevant this scandal becomes.

ITA with this. Garrett, find those big boy pants and do some sort of damage control soon - don't let your fiance take all the hits.

Does anyone else think the story is already dying down? The media storm of the last few days seems quieter to me today. Wondering if it will remain quiet for a while until later in the season.

...like @SeekAny posted last night....tptb probably recorded their conversation on this subject during their SHV last weekend and We will see how that plays out at the end of the season.  Unfortunately, that means Becca has to take the heat as G can't release any kind of statement right now, due to his bach contract.

Maybe since Garrett's original IG account has been deleted it's not possible to go back and see what other types of "double taps" he's done but I can't believe he's that one dimensional in his life. Did anyone tallied up his likes supporting positive themed posts? Charities? People overcoming adversity? Cute puppy pics? It's easy to target the bad and ugly about someone but I'm not going to grab my pitchfork and torch just yet. If Garrett is that full of intolerance and hate it will come out but I'm still withholding some judgement (some!) until he is given the chance to speak. I'm going to be giving him the side-eye the whole time but I am willing to wait and listen.

I’m not sure about double taps on puppies or charity posts but he definitely was tapping away on sexy pics of girls with guns, wearing tiny bikinis or girls opening bears with their teeth plus way more posts making fun of LGBT communities and pro wall memes.

Honestly, I don’t care if he likes million of cute puppy pics! It won’t make him less disgusting IMO

I took screen shots of his following list shortly before it went private/disabled - 141 files of SC followings with 11 per file, that's a lot.  From his followings IMO he definitely appears to like outdoor sporting: fishing, hunting, motorcycles, stand up boarding, skydiving.  He also has faith based followings:  jesus_my_bestfriend, everydaybible_verses, biblequote365, proverbsdaily.  Also follows gun/patriot sites.  In addition to the mericasupplyco site that the previously reported posts come from, he follows the4thamerican.  

Just looking at his 'likes' of posts from mericasupplyco, the4thamerican, and biblequotes365 since Jan 1 this year, he 'liked' 38 from mericasupplyco, 79 from the4thamerican, and 28 from biblequote365.  All of these sites often have multiple postings per day, and some days he liked some, but not all the posts that day.  One could say some 'likes' are accidental, but IMO they most surely can't all be.  I will say that I saw possibly offensive posts he DIDN'T like.  While I agree one can't know Garrett solely based on his followings or likes, I do believe that a person could get an idea for his stance on some important, potentially divisive, issues, based on the consistency of likes.  If Becca could go through his likes, I think she could compile a list of points for discussions between them on how do you truly feel about ....  Many of these topics I'm sure most people wouldn't think to ask about in the FS, but IMO could be important enough to discuss and be sure they are on the same page on, or are both really okay disagreeing on.  I think another important aspect of a relationship between two people, is the relationship they have with the other's family and friends.  Even if a couple disagree but are not passionate in their views, what if they have friends and family who are passionate and vocal?  Stating from personal experience, that's really difficult to navigate these days and can be tough on a relationship.

He did like 5 posts from biblequotes365 since filming ended, May 17 to 24, so he's not one-dimensional.   Becca got what she wanted, a guy with faith, who likes to fish and hunt.  Probably a great guy to his acquaintances, but IMO there is a LOT more to him than that for her to learn about.
