I don't think Arie knows what he wants, and I don't think he's serious about being with one person for the rest of his life...I think Arie has a conflict between how he wants to present himself, and what kind of woman he thinks he should be with...He talked about how he hasn't been in love with women who are strong and independent... and then all of the sudden, he's on the show [and] he's like, 'I want a strong, independent woman who I'm an equal with. I don't think there's anything wrong with being like, 'Yeah, I want to be the dominant partner in the relationship.' Maybe that's not the popular thing to say, but I wish he would just be honest about that, because I don't really think that he wanted to be with a woman like me or with a woman like Sienne, women like us... who aren't going to let him get away with whatever he wants to get away with

I think she pretty much nails it in terms of Arie wanting to be that guy who wants an equal partner, but in reality, he wants to be the dominant one in the relationship. I can see that being the cause of the breakup, because I don't think Arie had ever been in a relationship with a Becca type before. Seeing how she didn't let her ex manipulate her, I can see Arie bolting when he realizes he picked someone who won't let him get away with his BS. IMO.

Wow! Baby Beks knows Arie better than Arie knows Arie. IMO.

ITA. Lauren leaving was one of my most probable theories for why Arie didn't pick her in the first place but all you say, and a few other things too, make that IMO close to impossible. After what I saw last night IMO don't see Lauren going anywhere. I am intrigued by what Arie said to Lauren the morning after their FD - "This is going to get harder before it gets easier." While I wonder what he meant by that, I have a feeling that Lauren knew exactly what he meant.

Another pet theory I had was that seeing Becca reject her ex's proposal convinced Arie that she was the one who really loved him and the best choice. But IMO Becca really didn't reject her ex because of Arie - she pretty much made it clear to me that she rejected her ex for the same reasons that he was an ex in the first place. I don't know how clear that might have been to Arie; he might have seen what we saw last night the same time we saw it. If anything I think the ex's "continuing interest" in Becca was a deterrent to Arie rather than a positive.

That kind of puts me back in front of my drawing board in trying to figure out what really happened but as always with problem solving, sometimes knowing what didn't / couldn't have happened can lead you closer to what did.

I am leaning more and more toward the idea that Arie's inability to come up with clearly defined reasons as to why he was so crazy about Lauren fed his insecurity about making a wrong decision and that messed more and more with his head. At some point apparently post-season he must have realized love -and, yes, genuine love can be inexplicable.

@docnash14 I agree. I think for the first time last night too, we saw him actually get a bit frustrated with Lauren. His face when she said she’s thought about leaving said it all. He even said something along the lines of “the thought of you leaving me scares the sh*t out of me.” In his ITM’s last night he was practically saying I’ve given her everything I’ve possibly been able to, but she still doesn’t believe me.

I think it’s obvious that there are genuine feelings there with Becca on his part. Last night he referred to her as “safe” and he “didn’t have any questions” with her. With everything we’ve been shown, especially last night, I can see why he would have picked Becca in the finale, but quickly realized that was a mistake.

What a hot mess, but it is what it is. All JMO.

And NO to Ross as bachelor. We already saw Jesse Palmer, Sean and Josh, please no more over grown, over muscled former jocks. Please. JMO.

Well, since he works in football and their season is from August to December, it might be safe to say he won't be TB. Unless he blows off his job with Stanford's football team which he would be a fool to do.

The other jocks we've seen were no longer actively involved in the sport. I think there is a reason we don't see current jocks as the lead. All the major sports (football, basketball, baseball, hockey) in the US are in season at some point when TB films.

Her "dress" is very similar to the nightie I wore on my wedding night a very long time ago. I still have it as a keepsake. I like it as a nightie. It was very sexy for 1979--a Chloe' given as an engagement gift.
