I agree with this. I rewatched last night's episode a few times and what I got out of it with Laura and Matty was this. He realised that pushing Laura to say something he wanted to hear was wrong, was resigning himself to not hearing how she really feels before he had to make a final decision... and then went all out to show her, without telling her, that she's the one. There was at least 20 hours of work and then some in that drawing he did of her. Why on earth would he give her such an invested, personalised gift? His reaction, when she told him she was falling in love with him, was disbelieving joy which rendered him basically speechless. Why would he have such an extreme reaction if he wasn't in love with her? He didn't expect Elise to say it either and all she got was a smile and "I didn't know that".

If you just watch the interactions between all of them and disregard music, VO's etc... it is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO obvious.

I saw them really connecting on this last date emotionally. I didn't see that with Laura's date. No doubt Matty&Laura have chemistry but I think E has caught up in that dept.
I noticed on the train ride, he was staring at her before he went in for a kiss...and then his face really lingered on her after the kiss:

I noticed Matty kissed Laura's forehead on their date. That was such a loving gesture. He also kissed her hand and yes I saw him kiss Tara's hand too but it spoke volumes to me.

With Elise I feel he is going through the motions, kissing her but often with a firmly closed mouth.

Really don't think Elise stands a chance here.

If you watch the season preview he kisses Elise on the side of the head too.

IA. IMO there is definitely a difference in how he kisses the each of the girls. I'll always remember what Georgia Love said, in that sometimes she would kiss guys to stop them talking more about their feelings

Matty comes across to me as very affectionate, loving and tactile

I think his head wants Elise, not sure if his heart has caught up. But when Elise and he talk sometimes it seems to me like a job interview... Not that having a lot in common, especially good family values and respect for the feelings of others, is not a good foundation for a marriage, but, as he said to cobie, sometimes you can have all the right things but just be missing that spark....

I was thinking about whether matty was pulling back from Laura on their date.... Could be. But I'm kinda leaning to that he was following the script to keep the playing field more even, to conceal his emotions. Of course when I see laura get off the boat first that will shoot that theory to bits....

This season has been so odd it wouldn't surprise me if Laura gets off the boat first, Matty professes his love, then says "Hang 5 Laura, gotta go break someones heart"

Matty likes a comment about Laura being the one...
