Oh, man. This is the best part about Arie getting picked. The pettiness from the current "stars", who realize they might become irrelevant as they have no connection to him!

 To put it in SM followings perspective. Yesterday while those of us were discussing MF's tweets and reckoning it was Arie, I checked his IG and he had around only 67K IG followers.

It's why I posted then that I thought it was refreshing that if for no other reason, they cast someone who was not SM campaigning at all this year to get the gig and not connected to any of the shows this year at all or any SM whatsoever. 

And if it was about SM followers only, Arie has the lowest SM followers for a lead in recent years and gets the gig. I like it

This is my thought as well., its mostly Peter or bust fans  I don't think most long-term fans are upset or not that I have seen.  It will blow over and Arie will do great!  I just hope they get him some good 28+ year old women to pick from.

It's mixed, of course a lot of Peter fans, but surprisingly a lot of people was expecting Eric to be TB and they're mad too. Many don't know him, or think he's irrelevant. So many reasons for people not being happy with the choice.

For the most part TPTB are pretty quiet, and while most are happy on these boards with Arie, it looks like the backlash is fierce and was unexpected.

I'm guessing the teeny boppers are disappointed. They were hoping for a younger Bachelor and instead they got an older one. I just hope they don't choose 20 year-old girls for Arie. He needs a woman closer to his age, 36 correct?

I think the lead was Peter's and he turned it down. Since so many of the "relevant" possibilities from past season's were such duds/drama kings, they offered it to Arie. I am happy it's Arie. I'm surprised so many people don't know who he is - must not be long time viewers. Hopefully they will have age appropriate women. I think he's sincere and look forward to watching this season.

Arie's birthday is Sep 18, 1981, so he will be 36 in a couple of weeks.

I think they offered it to Peter but didn't go too far to try to get him. I don't think they wanted him nearly as bad as they wanted Emily. MF would literally do ANYTHING and practically did to make her say yes.

I think Arie may bring back some of the long time fans that have left the last couple years.

Peter fans on here are happy.  I was torn anyway because I knew it would be a snark extravaganza.  Now I can really enjoy a season.  Bring on the lovelies.

As he is younger than Nick and they didn't focus on his age, I hope they don't for Arie either. I like a more mature Bachelor vs someone like Dean who is clearly no where near close to being ready to settle down. I think Arie would settle down tomorrow if he found the right person.

Now if they'll please please cast good contestants, lower the immaturity and drama level, and have exciting locations!

So so happy that it's Arie! I have been a fan of this franchise from the start and pretty much watched every season. I was ready to look for other Monday night viewing options because this show has really turned into a platform to get contestants SM following up.

Emily Maynard's season was crazy good and Arie was as sincere, charming, sexy and all-around good guy as they come.

Yes, there is some dirt out there about him but I believe we will get a far more authentic season out of him than we would for anyone else they were considering (and I actually like Peter).

Go Arie! I am back baby. And, I have to say, it's great fun to see so many members from years back come out to say that they will be back for Arie's season.
