Cody Knapek & Danielle DeGroot - MAFS Season 5 - Discussion

Hi everyone!
I am super baffled that Season 5 has no spoilers yet. You'd think - if the weddings were filmed 11 months ago that some people would know something - heck, if you lived in the same apartment building you'd have to know! Especially in a city like Chicago. I'm sure that everyone who lives/works/interacts with the couple had to sign ironclad NDAs, but still, I'm a little surprised. Maybe it's not popular enough?

In regards to Cody and Danielle I've made a few observations based on social media behavior (yes, I realize that I probably need another hobby, LOL!)

- As someone mentioned, Cody and Danielle were together 100% at the Crab Pad on November 10, 2016. They both tagged a photo there and Cody used the hashtag #datenight. This favors them being together after Decision Day or at least remaining friends.

- On November 17 Danielle wrote the following on IG: "Do no harm, but take no sh**. Wisdom is realizing that not everything requires your opinion. Don't be the reason someone feels worse about themselves and don't let others take away your own happiness. Leave others better than you found them and hope that everything is working out for the best because in the end... it is. The universe has got this. Sorry for the lengthy post. I'm on one today." While she could be referring to other things it doesn't look good.

- On 11/23 Cody Instagrammed that celebrity athlete Lolo Jones followed him on Twitter and that she was his celeb crush and he was going to "slide in to her DMs" again, this could be a joke but just something to note.

- On 11/23 Cody and Danielle both wrote lengthy IG posts about gratitude. This doesn't really tell us much but just seemed interesting.

-11/30 Danielle posted an IG quote: "What is meant for you will reach you, even if it is beneath two mountains. And what isn't meant for you won't reach you, even if it is between your two lips" accompanying an image that stated, "If you have to force it, leave it. Relationships. Friendships. Yoga poses. Perfect pony tails. Let that s*** go." If she's not talking about her relationship she was certainly struggling with something else at the time.

- Danielle is 100% residing with her old roomies as of the holidays per her IG posts. On 12/4 she posted a tree picture. She later posted another Christmas tree picture on 12/24, besides her dogs there was also a little yorkie in the photo. Sheila asked whose dog the Yorkie was; Danielle replied that it was her roommate's dog and that he was "the man" of the house. Ouch.

- On 12/23 Danielle posted a "throwback" post from her holiday party at Carnivale (original post of the Xmas party was earlier in the month) - it appears she took her friend/roomie and used the hashtag #plusoneforever.

- Based on IG activity, Danielle spent NYE at GO Tavern and Liquors; Cody went with his friends to a formal party at the Westin. However, it should be noted that on 1/4/17, when Cody reposted a photo from NYE, he stated that he was living in Logan Square now in a reply to a friend. Danielle's place was in Logan Square. Not sure if this means anything but again, something to keep in mind. In Cody's post on 1/4, the kitchen cabinets in the background looked different from Danielle's - don't think it's the same place, but possible? Cody has also indicated on his Instagram that he works in Northbrook now in an office building, a Northern suburb. That is VERY far from Logan Square so it seems odd that he went in on a place in Danielle's neighborhood, but maybe they decided to stay married and called it quits around Christmas time?

- On 1/21 Danielle posted a selfie to Facebook (FB Name: "Danielle Anne") and a friend referred her to The Bachelor casting department. Again, this could be a joke and doesn't necessarily mean anything.

- The first week of February both Cody and Danielle IG photos from Big Star. It doesn't look like the plates of food were identical so they probably weren't together but I would assume they live close to one another.

- On 2/17 Cody IG a photo of the Boiler Room's pizza and posted about their special. Danielle commented that it was "the best deal in the city" and she was going to get it as well. On 2/19 she IG herself eating there.

- On 3/2 Danielle IG a quote about it "being ok to say no" and wrote next to it: " It's ok to say no to things not meant for us and not beat ourselves up for it. Self-love is not selfishness. This is what I'm telling myself, anyway."

- On 3/26 Cody IG a photo from a bedroom in Logan Square (presumably his place). This does not look like Danielle's place/layout.

- On 3/24 Danielle instagrammed a quote: "Even if you go for it and it doesn't work out you still win. You still had the guts enough to head into something that frightened you. That type of bravery will take you places." Rachel DeAlto, one of the relationship experts on the show, commented "Amen boo." Danielle responded back with a kissy face emoji. This is probably the most telling of all.

Towards the end of the month the MAFS cast was revealed so there are throwback posts from when they were together- I would disregard any of this as it's all promotional to build buzz for the show.

Also, one other item to note - it sounds like the couples don't REALLY sign leases on the places that they move in together. I'm sure everyone knows this already, but the housing is paid for by the production while they're filming. Hence, why they consider only fully furnished places.

And as others mentioned, Cody remains very active on FB "liking" posts from Danielle's family, friends, and relatives. My guess? They split sometime in November. It was amicable and they remained friends.

Well, I will put this out there since people are doing such a thorough job of sleuthing. I don't any physical proof of this, so take it for what it is worth. When I found out who had been casted on MAFS season 5, I went to Twitter and found Cody's account--this was his personal one that he had before and not the one with MAFS on it. He had retweeted a post in Either the latter part of November or in December about Dating and relationships being very hard, he posted about a new picture that Lolo Jones had posted saying "Looking good Bae" and then mentioning that Lolo is one of the few women that he'd want to date. I thought those statements were really bizarre for someone who is still married, but to be honest I still wanted to be hopeful for Danielle and Cody, so I tried to convince myself that I was reading into it wrong. I checked back on Twitter a couple of days after that--Cody's personal account had been deleted and his MAFS one had just gone up. Some of the other cast members had never been on Twitter before--Ashley commented that she was new to Twitter and Cody responded that he was, too. I know that production was behind this --they certainly didn't want anyone to question what Cody had been posting prior to the show. I have never posted this before because I wasn't sure how people would feel about it especially if they wanted to see Cody and Danielle together. I don't think that their split has been that amicable for as long as a lot of people think, either. I have also not been excited to watch Charlie and Angie's relationship this season either because of all of this. To be honest--it was hard for me to root for a relationship between his brother and her best friend/roommate when C and D's connection was so stressful. That has to be hurtful and a little awkward. I will be interested to see if Charlie and Angie are still in a relationship or continue to be in one after this is all over, either.

I have not got any positive vibe from these two indicating that they may have made it at the end.

Kudos to all the sleuthing upthread that seems to support my gut feel.

I do think they have been friends and supportive of each other post show and during the airing of the show but other than that I have no hope.

My first clue was the sheer distance between them on decision day on the sofa in the previews.

I think they may have said that they would stay together on decision day, but split not too long after. I have heard that production tries to persuade people to stay together, so their "success rate" is better--but after the show has been taped that they may not care quite as much what the couples do.

Interesting stuff you guys. I think these 2 are doomed. She's clearly stuck in the past and Cody is bending himself into a pretzel to be someone he's clearly not comfortable being.

They are so touchy feely. Always holding hands, kissing, and being sweet as far as body language. I don't understand, he certainly shows her affection as she does back to him.

@GuardianAngel They are touchy-freely. Do you think that is all them or influenced by production?
